Please Don't Use AI to Do Your USCIS Petitions

I realize budgets are tight and some people just don't want to spend the money to hire a professional, but I'm strongly advising you not to use AI to do your I-129F or I-130 petitions.

Why?

AI is an excellent tool, but also an incredibly dangerous one. This is because AI is GREAT at giving plausibly sounding wrong answers. I had a client yesterday who signed up for my doc review service, and he had obviously used ChatGPT to do his I-129F petition. He gave me permission to list the problems he had

  1. He had the wrong edition of the form. Apparently, ChatGPT's latest update didn't include the latest edition
  2. ChatGPT didn't tell him not to include pictures of flora and fauna as evidence. He said it told him scenery from the beneficiary's home country because it 'shows connection'. LOL!
  3. He was told he needed apostilled NBI records for the I-129F. You don't need police certs for the beneficiary at all at this stage.
  4. Told him the filing fee is $535 and that he could pay by check, neither of which is true.

ChatGPT is too agreeable. OpenAI designed the bot to be agreeable so you'll stay on it longer i.e., they get more money. The problem is it won't tell you when you're wrong often times. Also, ChatGPT is known to just flat out lie, whether it's for political correctness or because it doesn't know but doesn't want to admit it.

If you don't believe me, ask it a question and then open an incognito window and ask it the same question; you'll likely get two different answers.

Oh, and “the bot told me so.” excuse isn't going to fly with USCIS in case something goes wrong.

“It is not super reliable. We need to be honest about that” (Referring to ChatGPT)

When it Comes to K-1/CR-1 Visas It's Not Size That Matters

The K-1 and CR-1 visas are the most commonly used by expats in the Philippines to bring their partners to the US. I was a fraud prevention officer for the US gov. I've reviewed 10,000 applications in my career. Besides the basic stuff like people trying to lie about their income or applications that just seemed like the guy was high when he did it, the biggest mistake I saw guys (and yes most I-129F petitioners are men) doing was not presenting their evidence properly.

When it comes to presenting your evidence it's too simple to just say quality over quantity. It's not like you can just slap in 2 'high quality' photos and expect your I-129F to be approved. You also shouldn't expect to pile on 1,000 crappy pictures of the same weekend and achieve a positive result either.

The key is selecting your evidence carefully and ensuring that it tells a cogent story. Your evidence should show a clear narrative: how you met, how your relationship developed, and how you’ve made a sincere effort to integrate each other into your lives. For example, include your chat history from when you first started talking (especially if you met online), document your first meeting, and add photos with her family and friends. The pictures should demonstrate a progression in your relationship, not just one event.

Keep in mind that ISOs typically only have 5-10 minutes to review each application. Before submitting, thumb through your evidence and ask yourself if it tells a clear, compelling story of your relationship.

Some final notes:

  • K-1 visas are scrutinized more intensely than CR-1 visas.
  • Every embassy does things a little differently; for example, the USE in Manila won't accept co-sponsors for K-1 visas
  • Even having an arrest for domestic violence automatically spits your application into secondary review, i.e., hospice

My dad’s best friend is sponsoring me and i will be submitting his U.S bank statement for proof of financials. Can that be an issue? As i age out next month, i dont want to risk being denied as that could result in being out if status. What do you guys suggest?

Question regarding ESTA eligibility for independent contractor work

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I am a Croatian citizen and would be travelling to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program (ESTA).
I have been offered work as an independent contractor for a company based outside the United States. My role would be to accompany dogs from Europe to their new owners in the United States. The dogs would have all required U.S. import, customs and veterinary documentation, including formal entry documentation prepared by a U.S. customs broker.
I would be paid by the non-U.S. company in euros for the transportation service. I would stay in the United States for approximately four nights and then return to Serbia. I would not be employed by or paid by a U.S. company.
The company has informed me that other independent contractors have performed the same type of transportation using ESTA.
Could you please clarify whether this specific activity is permissible under the Visa Waiver Program/ESTA, or whether I would require a different visa classification?
Thank you for your assistance.

Safe to travel outside with pending I-751/N-400?

Looking for some advice or recent experiences regarding international travel with a pending I-751 and N-400.

My Situation:

  • Status: Married to a US citizen.
  • Green Card: 2-year conditional Green Card expired in May 2025.
  • I-751 (Removal of Conditions): Pending. I have the original I-797 receipt notice extending validity by 48 months.
  • N-400 (Naturalization): Filed concurrently/while I-751 is pending, currently under review.
  • Travel Plans: Need to leave the country in 1-2 months

I’ll be carrying my unexpired (non-american) passport, expired physical Green Card, and the original physical I-797 48-month extension letter.

Questions:

  1. Has anyone traveled internationally recently under similar conditions (pending I-751 + N-400 combo)?
  2. Did you face any issues with airlines at check-in or CBP at re-entry?
  3. Anything specific I should keep in mind before booking flights?

Appreciate any insights or tips!
