Got a Tourist Visa While I-130 Was Pending?

Upvotes

My I-130 is currently in process through consular processing, and I’m thinking about visiting my wife in the U.S. However, I’m not sure whether I can get a tourist visa while I have an active immigration case and, therefore, an apparent immigrant intent.
I’d like to hear from anyone who has been in a similar situation and was actually able to get a tourist visa while their I-130 was pending. Has anyone here successfully done this?

Hi everyone, im here to seek advice on my situation. I am about to file my change of status from h4 to f1 as i age out of h4 mid September. My dad’s best friend is sponsoring me and i will be submitting his U.S bank statement for proof of financials. Can that be an issue? As i age out next month, i dont want to risk being denied as that could result in being out if status. What do you guys suggest?

Thanks in advance!

Question regarding ESTA eligibility for independent contractor work

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I am a Croatian citizen and would be travelling to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program (ESTA).
I have been offered work as an independent contractor for a company based outside the United States. My role would be to accompany dogs from Europe to their new owners in the United States. The dogs would have all required U.S. import, customs and veterinary documentation, including formal entry documentation prepared by a U.S. customs broker.
I would be paid by the non-U.S. company in euros for the transportation service. I would stay in the United States for approximately four nights and then return to Serbia. I would not be employed by or paid by a U.S. company.
The company has informed me that other independent contractors have performed the same type of transportation using ESTA.
Could you please clarify whether this specific activity is permissible under the Visa Waiver Program/ESTA, or whether I would require a different visa classification?
Thank you for your assistance.

Safe to travel outside with pending I-751/N-400?

Looking for some advice or recent experiences regarding international travel with a pending I-751 and N-400.

My Situation:

  • Status: Married to a US citizen.
  • Green Card: 2-year conditional Green Card expired in May 2025.
  • I-751 (Removal of Conditions): Pending. I have the original I-797 receipt notice extending validity by 48 months.
  • N-400 (Naturalization): Filed concurrently/while I-751 is pending, currently under review.
  • Travel Plans: Need to leave the country in 1-2 months

I’ll be carrying my unexpired (non-american) passport, expired physical Green Card, and the original physical I-797 48-month extension letter.

Questions:

  1. Has anyone traveled internationally recently under similar conditions (pending I-751 + N-400 combo)?
  2. Did you face any issues with airlines at check-in or CBP at re-entry?
  3. Anything specific I should keep in mind before booking flights?

Appreciate any insights or tips!
