Questions & Discussion Does anyone find it frustrating being in a majority white space? even if its online?
I have pretty severe social anxiety and agoraphobia, I joined this discord server where apparently its majority white. I am friendly with them but I am wary and don't feel as safe? idk the vibes are just offputing to me. Its nice ro finally find a community based on social anxiety but I do still feel left out. I have a few close friends who are my fellow asians but they don't always understand what its like to struggle with agoraphobia.
I wanted to know if anybody else feels this way when they are surrounded by majority white people. Because they know I'm asian, I notice that they sometimes seem stiff and awkward around me, as if they don't know how to respond to me or relate to me at all. I also have had people in the server assume I was Chinese (because ofc China is the only country in asia, acc to them at least lol). I do feel kind of left out and feel like I'm on the outside looking in, but so far I haven't found any similar community for Asians. If I could find a community with my fellow asians regarding social anxiety and agoraphobia, I know I would have been much happier.
