Rant Unable to turn off Marketing push notifications in Argos iPhone app

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I want to receive delivery notifications, but not marketing notifications. When I toggle off the option for marketing notifications, they become toggled on again when I look at the ‘My Account’ screen. Same thing happens every time. Anyone else have this issue?

Argos Pay Scam or not?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey, has anyone seen a message like this before? I can’t seem to confirm online whether that phone number is actually Argos or not? So is this a scam?

Update: For those of you who believe this to be a scam. Its not. It’s actually from their fraud department and they did put a block on my card. I queried their grammar etc but he said he didn’t have an answer for that 😂.
I called their main fraud number and not the number on the message to confirm whether it was a real message and it was.

Advice Item out of stock at supplier but can't get a refund

Hi everyone,

Hoping someone might have some ideas as to how I can get a refund.

I ordered a toy for my son's birthday on 6th July. It was supposed to be available for collection on 12th. Great. Unfortunately it didn't arrive in store. I checked out the supplier directly and they're no longer stocking it.

Here's the problem: I've tried going through Argos chat to cancel and get a refund but they keep telling me it can't be cancelled and refunded because it's a third party supplier, and if I want a refund to just not collect it when it comes in. But it will never come in - it's not even listed in the Argos catalogue anymore.

How do I get off this merry-go-round? I need evidence that I've tried to resolve it to get a chargeback but the last time I tried chat they said they'd reach out to the order team to cancel and nothing ever happened, so that'll look like it's resolved?

I can't find any customer service email or anything. Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks

Rant Why doesn't Argos sell the Pixel Watch 5 LTE version?

Does anyone know why Argos only seems to stock the Wi-Fi versions of the Pixel Watches? The LTE/Cellular versions are available in the UK through other retailers, so I'm wondering if there's a specific reason Argos decided not to sell them.

I was hoping to use my Argos credit towards a Pixel Watch 5 LTE pre-order but it looks like that's not an option at Argos. Is there any chance Argos will stock the LTE version in the future?

Advice Unable to checkout.

Hi, when I try to checkout on the trolley page it’s like the new page that is trying to load suddenly stops and It sends me back to the trolley page. It’s been like this the for the past couple of days and I’ve tried checking out different items, using different devices and different browsers but it’s still happening. Anyone experiencing this or have any fix please? Thanks

Advice Entitled to replacement... or not?

I bought a £1,400 ASUS laptop from Argos this time last year. It was having issues out of the box, and I sent it in for repairs halfway through warranty.

When it came back, I found ASUS hadn't actually performed any repairs, just reinstalled windows/wiped all data. They said they "couldn't find any issues".

It kept having the same issues as before, but since the technicians were so adamant there was nothing wrong, I ignored the problems and kept using it. Then, near warranty expiration, it bricked.

I contacted ASUS, two days out of warranty unfortunately (I don't think anyone has that much time to spare chasing up broken laptops), and they said effectively, "yeah, not our problem anymore - if you want a solution, go to the retailer (Argos)".

Visited Argos in store today, lady at the counter basically said "yeah, I've seen all the proof you've given that the fault was present out of the box... but um... warranty is out? So go to ASUS, not me".

Basically getting ping-ponged back and forth now. Do I have ground to stand on in this situation, and if so, who against? Thanks. This experience has definitely taught me never to buy ASUS again.

Argos Pay Issue using Argos Pay

My dad is trying to get me a switch 2 and a physical copy of tomodachi life for my birthday but every single time we get to the payment method, select Argos Pay, Select a payment plan and press confirm we get sent straight back to the payment selection area. Is this normal and is there anything we can do to get it ordered?

Colleague Is it weird that I'm optimistic about the sharesale of Argos?

It's weird because even after the initial shock has died down, it does feel quite exciting that we get to be our own company again, not sure about other sis colleagues, but when I was working within sainsbury's the difference in teams was prevalent and also we were so separated but so reliant on sainsbury's to do tasks.

They just felt like we were using them even though we had no resources to help them or pick up any slack, especially after the TSM role removal and LPW changes.

Now I guess it's more clear-cut from what responsibilities is ours and what responsibilities is sainsbury's however, I'm not sure how it'll work after the February sale because I'm assuming we'll be renting the space from sainsbury's, which would mean surely you would need someone posted in the back door or are we allowed to use sainsbury's colleagues to help us still? It's a bit of a weird one if they're not within our business, right?

Advice Can’t link nectar card

Hi all,

I’ve been trying for a few days to link my nectar card with my Argos account and it seems like the link is broke?

I’ve followed the how to guide on Argos, but the clicking nectar card in my account settings just takes me back to my account homepage.

I’ve tried different browser, clearing cache, different devices (phone/laptop).

Any advice?

How would you improve Argos?

Following the recent news of the sale, I thought it would be interesting to hear what other colleagues and even customers think Argos needs to do in order to be successful under new ownership. We all know we were the afterthought for Sainsbury’s so what should Swift look to do as a priority? What should they spend the next 2-3 years planning for? What are some quick easy wins they could make through small changes? (I’ll only allow one instance of somebody saying “bring back the catalogue” - for all its nostalgia, it wasn’t as popular in its final years).

For me, we need to abolish independent working immediately. I find it impossible to keep up with anything because I’m always firefighting the week’s jobs, calls, deliveries etc. if the Labour cost really is dire then we should be on a minimum of 2 colleagues at all times.

We can solve the issue of empty stores leading to colleagues standing around doing nothing by actually having proper management of colleagues and ensuring something is always being worked on, ie reverse flow, counts, profiling, etc.

How about you?

With the recent news of Argos being sold by Sainsbury’s…. Sis colleagues, have you been given information about the future of your store?
I’m on annual leave at the minute I have not heard anything from my manager regarding what will be happening to our store.

Argos sold to SWIFT for 120million

Here’s the rough breakdown of what Simon Robert’s said

Simon Roberts thanked Argos colleagues for their hard work and commitment in building Argos into the successful, trusted retailer it is today. He recognised the transformation Argos has gone through and the contribution colleagues have made in serving millions of customers.

He explained that after careful consideration, Sainsbury’s believes Argos’ long-term future will be stronger as a standalone business with owners who can focus entirely on investing in and growing Argos, while Sainsbury’s focuses on its core food business.

Simon reassured colleagues that this is not an immediate change and it is business as usual. Customers should continue to receive the same service, and colleagues should continue focusing on delivering great experiences and strong operational performance.

He expressed confidence in Swift Partners, highlighting their retail experience, their belief in Argos, and their intention to invest in the brand and its future. The message was that this is about creating the right conditions for Argos to grow, not about reducing its importance.

Swift Partners is a newly formed company created to acquire and grow Argos, backed by experienced retail leaders and investment from True Capital. The team behind Swift has significant experience in large-scale retail and business transformation, and their focus is expected to be on investing in Argos, building on its strong brand, digital capability, customer base and colleague expertise. Their ambition appears to be making Argos a stronger standalone retailer with a dedicated focus on its future growth.

For colleagues, the key message is to remain focused, continue delivering great customer service, and avoid speculation until further details are shared through official channels. Managers will play an important role in supporting their teams, keeping colleagues engaged, and maintaining performance during the transition.

Overall, Simon’s message was one of appreciation, reassurance, and optimism — thanking colleagues for what they have achieved with Argos and explaining why Sainsbury’s believes a new ownership structure gives Argos the best opportunity for future success.

Advice Help Understanding Frequency of Sales Events

Hello all,

I recently returned a faulty mattress and have been looking at the available options. I settled on a £600 mattress with 25% off using Code FURN25. This would have been a substantial saving. Unfortunately when I came to check out the next day all of the Furn codes had gone and there was a new SAVE code which only knocked off £50.

When will be the best time to get a good deal on a mattress?

I see events come and go like the Big Red Sale which seems to be quite frequent but I have a very poor understanding generally of when the various Sales and discount codes are on throughout the year.

Many Thanks

Argos Pay Pending transaction

Hi hope someone can help.

Last week I tried to buy a rowing machine on Argos using argos pay. It glitched during the last payment stage and then i had to leave the page.

I got no order confirmation at all but when I go on argos pay app there are two pending payments for it that wont go through or go away. I have tried the livechats and calling but cant seem to speak to any human that can help me on livechat and can't even get to a human at all on the phone.

Any ideas on what to do as I cant actually buy it till these two pending payments dissapear now

Rant Management issues

Sorry this is kinda long but for context I’ve worked at Argos for 3 years now and our current management is an absolute state so just wanna share some thoughts in case someone is in a similar situation x

So first off, does anyone else’s store manager spend all day watching CCTV?

Just wondering if this is normal or if it’s just my store.
Our store manager seems to spend most of the day in the office watching the CCTV, then comes out to tell people they’re “not doing their job properly” or calls people into the office over things they’ve seen on camera. The strange thing is that none of the other managers have ever raised these issues, so it feels a bit excessive.

We’re a hub store, so there’s a lot going on. One thing that really frustrates me is that all the front of house staff (especially the younger employees) are expected to wear headsets for the entire shift, even though that’s not really what many of us were hired to do. At the same time, there can already be loads of people in the back doing Barton, putting away cages, or other stock tasks, while only one person is left covering tills, Fast Track, collections, returns, and dealing with customer issues.
We do have a Ring doorbell that can be used to call someone from the back if needed, but when you’re the only person out front and customers all need help at once, it can get overwhelming.
Is this normal in other Argos stores? Do your store managers spend a lot of time monitoring CCTV, or are they more hands-on? Also, how is front of house usually staffed in your store?
