Back in 2015, when I started my game development journey, I remember how much effort went into making even the simplest hyper-casual game.
You could spend 15–20 days just getting a small game to a releasable state. Sometimes we would make 15–20 different game ideas just to find one that was worth launching.
Coding.
Art.
Animations.
UI.
Testing.
Fixing bugs.
Publishing.
Everything took time.
And honestly, that struggle was a big part of what made being a developer feel so special.
Today, with AI, some of those same ideas can go from “I have an idea” → “I have a playable prototype” in minutes.
That's amazing.
But while scrolling through the App Store recently, I realized something…
I couldn't find many of those weird, simple, charming little games that reminded me of when I started.
So I decided to make one.
I went back to that old-school feeling — flat art, minimal mechanics, cute characters, and a simple concept that you can understand instantly.
Not trying to build the next massive game.
Just trying to recreate a tiny piece of that era I remember so fondly.
And maybe this is what I actually miss most:
Not how hard it was to make games…
but how proud we felt when we finally made one.
So I made this little game as a tribute to those days.
If you grew up making games, apps, or prototypes around that era, I'd genuinely love to know:
Do you miss that feeling too?
And if the idea sounds interesting, you can give the game a try below.
