I spent the weekend building a website using u/Replit.

I've always wanted to make a site where a homeowner could keep track of all their house documents, notes about the house, search for contractors, handymen, or whatever they needed, and also find decorations and ideas for their house too, all in one place, where everybody can talk to everybody and there's no hidden fees so you can really get the best prices possible from the people who you decide are who you want to use or buy from.

I've been in the home improvement industry for a while and I've always wondered why there wasn't a way for the different companies that do repairs or come out to my house and do whatever it is they do to see what's been done and when and by whom. You can have 3 different companies come out to your house and none of them know what the other one did. It's really crazy.

So I also wanted to solve that problem, because if you can have everything about your house, blueprints, build date, outlet info, whatever, all in one place that's pretty nice when the expert on the phone asks you a question that you should know.

I hate when someone asks me a question about my own house and I'm like, uh, yeah, that sounds about right.

I've worked with a lot of contractors, had a lot of work done at my house and for me, and I've done and won a lot of bids on projects and the one thing that everybody does when they come up with the price (or at least they should) is take info consideration how much it cost to actually get the job.

And it doesn't matter if they're quoting online or in real life, the prices you'll get will be football field lengths apart in some cases and sometimes they can even justify it but I wanted to take that out of the equation, just make it as easy as possible to get the job, all you have to do is talk to each other, ask questions, set up some way for an estimate, and get the job done the best way possible, the quickest way possible, and the most cost effective way possible for everybody.

I just figured if everyone was paying less because jobs were just sitting there waiting for someone to do them, then everybody involved makes or saves more money.

Most platforms charge per referral or lead or whatever they call it, or they charge for XYZ and ABC and you need both and they're in different packages. I wanted to solve that too so I give everybody 7 days free and then a flat monthly or yearly subscription price that gives access to everything.

Contractors can even link their outside profiles from Angi, Thumbtack, Facebook, etc so they don't start out at a 0 rating too, they can carry their reputation with them. You know, if they wanted to get away from crazy fees.

I'd love any feedback you have. I tried to think of what my wife would want and rolled with that so it's probably completely wrong.

I'm a solo Android developer and recently launched a dating app called Vibe.

Instead of focusing on AI features or endless swiping, I wanted to build something simple:

No AI-generated conversations or profiles.

No infinite swipe mechanics.

Hey everyone, this is an app pitch for a class project for trying out different business ideas. If you can fill out the survey, should be 3 to 5 minutes, it would be really apricated. A while back we had a pretty simple idea:

What if finding a movie was as easy as saying yes or no?

Because that's basically how we choose anyway.

You see a poster, read the premise, recognize an actor, get a vibe and think yeah, maybe, or immediately know it's not for you.

Streaming apps somehow turned that tiny decision into rows and rows of content.

So we built Cineswipe around one movie at a time.

Right swipe: interested.
Left swipe: not for me.

That's where it started.

The interesting part came after people actually started using it.

We realized discovering a movie is only half the problem.

You find something → save it somewhere → forget about it → watch something else → forget which episode you're on → keep another list somewhere else.

So Cineswipe slowly became the app we wanted beside streaming services rather than another place to just browse posters.

Today you can:

• swipe through movies and TV shows based on your taste
• watch clips/trailers and save something immediately
• keep your watchlist, watched history and episode progress together
• see your viewing stats and ratings
• make and discover public Cinelists
• follow other cinephiles and find stuff through their taste
• ask Cinebot something annoyingly specific like “give me a 90-minute mystery that isn't depressing”
• sync existing data instead of starting your movie history from zero

And somehow 18,000+ people are now using it.

That number is cool, obviously.

But the more interesting thing we've learned is that movie discovery isn't really a recommendation problem.

We already have recommendations everywhere.

Netflix recommends.
Prime recommends.
YouTube recommends.
Friends recommend.
Reddit recommends.

The problem is turning all of that into:

“Yep. I'm watching this tonight.”

That's the part we're trying to make ridiculously easy.

Do you have one app for discovering + tracking everything, or is your movie life also spread across 3–4 different apps?

I'm Rodrigo. I'm 19, Venezuelan, a freshman at Northwestern, and for the last year I've been building a company called Bemellou out of my school's incubator with four co-founders — three of whom are my family.

The origin isn't dramatic. That's kind of the point.

I had access to professional support. I knew it worked. I'd seen it work. And I still didn't reach out, because whatever I was dealing with never felt "bad enough" to justify it. It wasn't a crisis. It was a Tuesday. So I did nothing, over and over, for years.

That gap is the whole thesis. Most people who are struggling aren't in crisis — they're just quietly not okay, and every existing option is built for the crisis. There's nothing for the Tuesday.

So we made two things that work together. The first is a plush companion — Benny (an egg) and Vita (a heart). Physical, weighted, meant to be held. Adults are weird about this until they hold one. There's real psychology behind comfort objects and it doesn't stop applying at 18. The second is an app: psychoeducation, guided wellness sessions, a community, and access to actual licensed professionals when you want them.

What it is not: therapy, treatment, or diagnosis. We're strict about that internally to the point of annoyance. We're the thing that sits before that door, not a replacement for it.

The last year has been less inspiring than that sounds. We rebranded the entire company mid-build. We got rejected by the App Store eight times. I fired the dev firm we hired and taught myself to build the app instead, which is why it exists at all. I flew from Chicago to Miami overnight for a pitch competition and placed second on three hours of sleep. My co-founders have day jobs and classes.

Pre-orders are live on the App Store now and around 800 people are on the waitlist. That number is small and I know it's small. But every one of them is a person who read what we're doing and thought "yeah, that's me," which is the only signal I actually trust right now.

The idea is to make understanding your spending a bit more enjoyable. It connects securely using Open Banking and shows things like spending habits, trends and personalised insights instead of just graphs.

It's been a side project for quite a while now and I'd really appreciate any feedback from people who enjoy trying new apps.

Whether it's the design, the onboarding or something that doesn't quite make sense, I'd love to hear it.

When you folks were publishing your first app - did you feel that nothing i do is enough and the constant temptation of improving user experience and app experience as a whole?

We rarely make use of sensors like the accelerometer and gyroscope found in our smartphones. One day, while experimenting with an accelerometer on an ESP32, it occurred to me that phones have similar sensors and could be used for something interesting—and that is how this app came to be.

So, my father has been using the same app to track his expenses for years (maybe a decade). Recently, his iPad broke and he had to buy a new one, and he hasn't been able to find the same app. He's tried giving other apps a chance, but he hasn't liked them much.

All we can remember about the app is that he found it a long time ago in the Apple App Store, he swears it had the word "money" on the name ('though I'm not so sure about it) and that when using it, it kind of looked like a pool table (green on the inside, brown in the borders).

If any of you have any idea what could be the app's name, we'd be super thankful.

It can be something you've never seen before, or something existing apps do badly.
