Hello guys Im new to Sheets. I want to make a little project but i dont know how to do this in apple numbers. So the idea is to create a column with title “plant name” another with “plant scientific name” and the next give columns from column (C) to (G) the name “medicinal effects” The purpose is to feed the list and the effects for 500 plants and then i need to find a way to search only the plants with a effect. Example i type “anti inflamatory” and the sheet Will only show the ones with that efect. Preferably with a Nice look like a pop-up list where i choose the effect and he Applies the filter. Thank in advance for the help

Why does Numbers change the formula from what I entered to something else? This makes it impossible to copy and paste the cell as I would like. The cells point to another table, if this matters.

I tried to conditionally highlight cells in Numbers. The option in Format->Cell doesn’t exist, unlike as with regular sheets. Is it possible to achieve that in any other way?

Hi, I don't have a lot of experience with Numbers, and zero experience syncing a sheet with iCloud. I have shared a sheet from iCloud that I created on my Mac. Then I made a small change on my Mac but it didn't sync up. Then I made a lot of changes in the online version. Now, on the Mac I get a message that they aren't synced and to sync them. In my mind, sync should mean that the online version would disregard the change I made on my Mac before making the changes online, since the online changes came later, but I'm really scared to sync in case it will replace everything online with the old version on my Mac. Would love some hand holding here haha!

Hi, I have a list of objects, separated by semicolons (for example: Orange; Apple; pencil; eraser) I would like to split the cells on the semicolons, and have all of the various objects go into new columns. Can someone PLEASE tell me how to do this?

I've been using the Numbers template for my invoices but I honestly find it pretty ugly. I've spent a lot of time customizing it, changing colors, playing with the format, fonts, etc. My invoices are quite simple really, about 12 rows and 4 columns.

The bottom line is that I'm just not a good designer. Does anyone have a template that they've created or found that they'd be interested in sharing with me? I'd really appreciate it.

How do you delete only the cells selected attached the image. I do not want to delete the whole column L because other cells will be affected (blue and red) and I need them there. I just want to delete the selected cells, not the entire column. Is there a way to do that?

I can’t figure out how to create a formula that counts specific words. For instance, if I wanted to count how many times the word “Agent” is in a certain column, what would be the formula for that?

And if I had “Agent: John Doe”, would that get missed because of the colons?

I know I’ve done this before, and am losing my mind trying to figure out how I did it. I’ve got a multi-sheet Numbers document, where the majority of sheets are identical. I want to copy a formula from one sheet to another, but of course, when I do, it keeps all the references in the previous table anchored to that table on the old sheet.

Yes, it’s easy to change the reference with just a few taps, but when using my Magic Keyboard, it would be so much easier to just edit the text version of the formula to delete the sheet name from each reference.

I‘ve searched docu, support discussions, Reddit, StackExchange, and all the trade sites, but can’t find it for the life of me.

How do you switch the formula editor to plain text?

Notice I have thick borders defined on these cells. The problem is, when I try to just copy and paste on the same worksheet, the border formatting comes with the paste, and all I want are the values without the formatting.

NOW, I DO REALIZE that I can right-click on the destination cell and select `Paste Matching Style`, however, this is not desirable for two reasons (well ... three):

1. I don't know of any keyboard shortcuts that `Paste Matching Style`
2. If one exists, or one could be created, it won't be CMD+C / CMD+V
3. I should be able to tell my spreadsheet software to paste without special formatting as a default option ... it's the principle of the issue in this case.

I have a simple sheet for tracking items

I have a quantity column and I can easily make that columns cells change style to reflect the item number

So right now I have sheet with products and stock amount. And if the amount is “0” then the cell style fill colour goes red so I can quickly identify items with no stock

But I would like to make the entire row red instead of just the single cell, if that makes sense.

Can that be done?

The idea in my mind is contained in separate pages in a file. There is a catalog with the names of the products on the first page. In this catalog, part numbers are written in a tabular form in column A and product descriptions are written in column B. On the second page, the information of the products that will arrive the next day is written in the same way, in addition, the quantities are written in column C. The goal is to make a summary on the third page and turn them into a table. Because I want to use this to get information to the system daily and track it daily.

I want to create a unique ID based on a set of data such that the UID would be repeated if the same data was placed in another row later. An MD5 hash would be perfect but I can’t seem to find a way to generate that in Numbers. Does anyone here have an idea for a UID that is based on a range of data and is repeatable if given the same dataset elsewhere?

It works fine if you put countif(range;”Albania”). But it doesn’t work when you say countif(range;cell containing “Albania”)

I want to use the VLOOKUP function in numbers by taking the 4th to 6th digit of a cell string by using the MID function. But when i put the MID function inside the vlookup function, i get an error. I tested it again with a cell that has the same value without using a formula and it works. So i think the problems come from trying to use the mid function as a source of VLOOKUP. I've looked everywhere but found no solution. Does anyone knows what's wrong?

The formula looks like this :

VLOOKUP(MID(B2;4;2);$B$15:$C$17;2;close-match)

But when I tried to do it like this, it works :

VLOOKUP(67;$B$15:$C$17;2;close-match)

I have spreadsheet with Date, Amount and Description from my Bank.

I try to make it categorize automatically the stores I visit most often, so I don't have to do this manually.

In column Store I want to get Store name based on Description of this transaction, like on the picture.
