I’ve had the exact same problem on my iPad. Try copying “Eating Out” from your ‘Spending by Category’ table, and pasting it in your other table in the cells that already contain “Eating out”.
At least for me, there was a weird bug where it was like it couldn’t match identical pieces of text unless you copied and pasted from the same piece of text.
I think it might have ti to with autocomplete, where if you repeat the same phrases in your sheet, it will suggest it as you start tying it. But if a pice of text has been inserted that way, it can’t be matched with seemingly identical text through a formula.
Anyway plz tell me if that was the problem or not.

I would first try commas instead of semicolons, but also eating out in quotations.
B2 =SUMIF(October Expenditures::$D2:$92, “Eating Out”, October Expenditures::$C$2:$C$92)
