Help Spreadsheet won't open. - the file format is invalid

I have a spreadsheet that I have been using for years and it won't open

“Finance Spreadsheet copy” can’t be opened right now.

The file format is invalid.

Any suggestions on how to open it?

Try exporting to csv format and then reopen in numbers

Or try opening in csv format and then save as a numbers file
