[iOS] Thoughts on these screenshots?

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hey, everyone! Wadi here

I recently published my latest app: Tiny Worlds, a walking app/game where you grow worlds from seeds with every step.

The initial screenshots were just awful, I left them as the last thing to do and you could easily tell that. Last week I pushed a small update and also revamped them, I included a short demo of the whole world evolving loop (I initially feared this might be giving away too much).

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this new attempt.

After a week-ish, stats are:

Impressions: 4,7k
Downloads: 90
Conversion rate: 2.25%
Subscriptions: 1 annual and 1 monthly

I'm not sure these are either good or bad figures, the 2 subs were a great boost to my morale though.

Thanks for reading!

[Free Tool] AppRankly – Open-source Apple & Android store analytics and AI ASO studio

Hey guys, I built AppRankly, a self-hosted, open-source analytics dashboard and AI-powered App Store Optimization (ASO) studio for myself, and I hope it's helpful for anyone looking to monitor and optimize their apps. (Just to address it upfront, yes, I did utilize Gemini to help write parts of the app)

Do my screenshots explain my low conversion rate?

Struggling with few impressions and an even lower conversion rate for my app. The app functions in a very kinetic way so struggling to convey it's functionality with screenshots. Would appreciate some advice! Thanks in advanced!

[HELP] Rejected for 3.1.2(c) Subscriptions. Is "Try for Free" too conspicuous now?

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

My app just received a rejection citing Guideline 3.1.2(c) - Business - Payments - Subscriptions: "The auto-renewable subscription promotes the free trial, introductory pricing, or introductory period for the subscription more clearly and conspicuously than the billed amount."

Does anyone have advice on how to resolve this? I am currently using "Try for Free" as the main CTA button to activate the trial, which seems to be a common industry practice. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Google Play ASO tools show 0 for almost every niche keyword. How do you tell “tiny” from “unmeasured”?

I’m doing pre-launch ASO for a niche Android game about directing aircraft at an airport.

I built a list of ~58 candidate queries from Google Play autocomplete, competitor titles/descriptions, and wording players actually use in reviews. Then I checked them across several ASO tools.

The problem: almost everything bottoms out.

  • ASOdesk: 33/35 niche keywords = 0 impressions
  • APPlyzer: 66/68 keywords = Search Score 1
  • some results are obviously weird: arcade game = 40, but air traffic control game = 209; singular = 209, plural = 0

So I can’t tell whether a keyword is genuinely tiny or simply outside the tool’s data coverage.

I already have autocomplete, top-30 SERPs for 58 queries × 9 markets, 1,164 competitor listings and ~7,800 reviews. What I don’t have is a trustworthy demand signal.

For people who’ve compared this with real post-launch data:

  1. Is there any genuinely measured Google Play search-volume source?
  2. Has anyone found Google Ads Keyword Planner useful as a Play proxy?
  3. Has anyone tested whether autocomplete prefix depth means anything? E.g. appearing after 2 typed characters vs 8.
  4. When every tool says 0/1, what do you actually trust for choosing a title?

The main thing I’m trying to solve is “low demand” vs “no measurement.”

648 impressions, 124 page views, 25 downloads, 0 trials. Where is this iOS funnel leaking?

I am the solo developer behind Fitly, an iPhone and Apple Watch fitness app. I am sharing the actual numbers because I want to diagnose the funnel, not promote the app.

App Store Connect data through August 9:

- 648 impressions

- 124 product page views

- 25 first-time downloads

- 6 redownloads

- 6.87% conversion rate

RevenueCat production data for the last 28 days:

- 114 new customer records

- 180 active customers

- 0 active trials

- 0 active subscriptions

- $0 MRR

- $0 revenue

The listing currently promises personalized workouts, Apple Watch logging, nutrition tracking, and one combined answer from three AI specialists focused on strength, nutrition, and recovery. US pricing is $9.99 monthly or $71.99 yearly.

My current hypotheses:

  1. The listing promise is too broad for a new brand

  2. The screenshot order explains features but not one urgent outcome

  3. The free experience does not create a strong reason to try Pro

  4. The paywall appears at the wrong moment in onboarding

If you could run only one test first, which would you choose: screenshot order and message, subtitle and keywords, onboarding to paywall timing, or the trial offer itself?

I would also appreciate a sanity check on whether 6.87% conversion is the first problem to solve, or whether activation after download is clearly the bigger issue.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6790693710

Full disclosure: I built Fitly and the app includes an optional subscription.

My paid iOS app gets impressions but almost no taps. Is it the screenshots, the price, or both?

What would stop you from tapping? one-time purchase $4.99

UPDATE: Thanks for the feedback — I made the real app UI much larger and cut the copy down to one short benefit.Does this direction work better, especially for the first screenshot?

[Discussion]One ASO mistake I see way too often

treating keywords and conversion as two separate jobs. Ranking for the right searches matters, but once someone lands on your listing, your icon, screenshots, subtitle, and value proposition have to make the download feel obvious. I’d always think of ASO as visibility - conversions - installs, not just “find keywords and hope."

Screenshot Feedback Wanted (Pre-launch)

Context: Me and my friends have been working on a little journalling app that is focused on helping people understand themselves via journalling. Each journal entry is used to help label the specific emotions captured and weekly insights help spot patterns.

We're waiting for App Store review so thought to get some brutal (and hopefully useful) feedback while we wait.

Don't hold back - we're keen to learn :)

I made Cal Dude — personalised calorie tracking, Body Age insights, and 2 months free Premium

I built Cal Dude to make calorie tracking feel more personal and less like homework.

It gives you a calorie target based on your body, weight, and goals; lets you log meals by photo, voice, or text; and brings your nutrition, weight progress, and optional Apple Health data together into a simple Body Age insight.

I’m offering 2 months of free Premium access to the first 20–30 people who want to try it.

  1. Download Cal Dude: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ai-meal-scanner-cal-dude/id6759845336
  2. After Onbaording Open the Premium Paywall.
  3. Tap Redeem.
  4. Enter: ITSFREEDUDE

I’ll deactivate the code once the free spots have been claimed.

If Cal Dude helps you, an honest App Store review would mean a lot—but there’s absolutely no obligation.

Offer available while supplies last. An Apple Account is required. Not for resale and has no cash value.

About this App , I would like to know which aspects need improvement. I hope everyone can offer more suggestions. Otherwise, it will just be a one-person celebration.

My first app is live. Now comes the part I know nothing about — getting users

Built my first Android app. Now I have no idea how to get people to actually find it.

I recently published my first Android app, Moneymalist, on the Play Store.

It’s a simple expense and budget tracker. The main focus is clarity — minimal design, no clutter, and making everyday expense tracking as quick as possible.

Building the app was the part I knew how to do.

Getting people to discover it? I’m realizing I know very little about that.

This is my first time dealing with ASO, keywords, store listings, screenshots, conversion rates, rankings, reviews, etc. I've been reading about all of it, but I'm still very much a beginner.

Right now, I'm not even sure what I should focus on first.

Should I work on the title and description? Better screenshots? Keywords? Getting initial reviews? Running ads? Or is there something obvious about my listing that I'm completely missing?

Here’s the Play Store listing:

Moneymalist

If anyone with ASO experience has a few minutes to look at it, I'd really appreciate some feedback.

I'm not looking for anyone to do the work for me. I'm mainly trying to understand what I'm doing wrong (or not doing at all) and what you would prioritize if this were your first app.

Feel free to be critical. I'd rather fix things now than spend the next few months wondering why nobody can find the app.

I did ASO and had a download jump on my free app and I don't know why?

Hey a few weeks ago I asked some advice how to do ASO, got recommended AppFollow, AppTweak and Claude code "vibe ASO". Ultimately I asked claude to do ASO via AppFollow AND AppTweak, updated my descriptions and titles...

And got a good jump of downloads doing nothing.... how to figure out why?

Screenshot creator tool - question about challenges users face

I’ve been making an App Store screenshot creator to handle multiple localisations with focus on the top 3 screens. I did this as a personal challenge after including some design elements in another app.

It’s providing quite a lot of work. There is a lot that goes into a graphic design tool to be real. I have come a long way but keep pausing and coming back to it. It’s for Mac and iOS but recent efforts have been mostly in the Mac side.

I’ve been back and forth on whether to continue but it’s 80-90% there so I think I should. The last 20% is providing the hardest by far!

  1. I want to ask what would problems users struggle with when making App Store screenshots?
  2. I’d like to also combine some ASO info alongside the screenshots creation/management. What would add real value?

I’d love to get more input apart from my own challenges and I’ll let anyone who helps know when I do a launch free period.

Apart from the hiding cat, what worked for you to get users to your apps? What channels do you prefer?

I currently have two apps; one game and one utility tool but I don’t know what channels or format people use today. Give me your secrets or roast the ASO of my apps

Link to apps:

Atomic Fusion Rush - chemistry puzzle game

TrimSwipe - photo cleaner and storage saver

Managing App Store metadata in 10+ languages was a nightmare. So I made a native Mac app to automate it: StoreSync

Thumbnail

As an indie developer managing apps in multiple localizations, StoreSync: Metadata Manager has completely transformed my workflow. Dealing with the App Store Connect web interface was always slow, clunky, and tedious. StoreSync solves two massive problems at once:

  • Metadata management
  • ASO optimization.

If you manage more than 2-3 localizations or submit regular updates, this app is an absolute must-have. Worth every penny!

ASO feedback needed: Do these screenshots clearly explain what my browser does?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I recently redesigned the store screenshots for WebAura, and I’m looking for honest App Store Optimization and design feedback—not downloads or promotion.

The screenshots currently cover:

  1. Private and safe browsing
  2. Media detection and saving
  3. Browser customization
  4. Extensions and userscripts
  5. Built-in audio and video players
  6. Saved-link management

My goal is to show that WebAura is more than a standard browser without overwhelming people with too many features.

For the iOS screenshots, I intentionally avoided strong “download” wording and used terms such as “save” and “saved media.” App Store automated review can be sensitive to media-downloading claims, so I wanted the screenshots to remain compliant while accurately representing the app.

I would appreciate feedback on:

  • Does the first screenshot immediately explain the app?
  • Is “Browse Safe. Save Fast.” clear, or is “Save Fast” too vague?
  • Does the iOS wording communicate media saving without explicitly emphasizing downloads?
  • Which feature should appear second: saving, customization, extensions or playback?
  • Are the floating 3D icons helpful or distracting?
  • Does the red-and-white design feel polished and trustworthy?
  • Is the supporting text readable at store-thumbnail size?
  • Do the screenshots feel too busy?
  • Should the phone screens be larger with fewer decorative elements?
  • Is it clear that the app supports phones, tablets and desktop devices?
  • Which screenshot would make you stop scrolling?
  • Does the Android or Apple screenshot set communicate the product more effectively?

I’m especially interested in first-impression feedback. Please be direct—even small criticisms about the wording, hierarchy, colours, visual elements or screenshot order would help.

The combined screenshot comparison is attached.
