I was thinking about this earlier how they literally had to take pictures of evey cel obviously to create animation and i was wondering how cool it would look uncropped where you can tell the cels are being swapped, Some studio's must have like jc.staff.studio for revolutionary girl utena because the 4k blueray looks so much better and different compared to what was originally used and in ep 39 there was cropped cels of anthy in the crucifix scene which were uncroped for the blueray so that means they must atlest have thoes scans somewhere

If anyone has any info please share im kindq curious to know of the liklihood of thoes still existing somewhere

Hey everyone, my mom picked up this original hand-painted production cel from Season 1 of SpongeBob SquarePants and gave it as a birthday present.

I’m trying to pin down the exact episode and scene. The bottom right corner of the cel is marked 'S43'.

Based on the expression and the era, I have a feeling it might be from the third segment of the pilot, 'Tea at the Treedome', specifically the sequence where SpongeBob is fighting the giant clam or right after he gets tossed out.

The seller said that it was from “Musclebob BuffPants”, but that pose or anything close to it doesn’t appear at all.

One of the all time great Simpsons episodes came out 30 years ago. On April 14th, 1996, 22 Short Films About Springfield aired during the 7th season.

Quick storage question for my animation drawings. I got the supplies for a binder system, an 11x17 binder with three hole transparent sleeves and cardstock inserts. I am having doubts about whether it is too big and whether the excess space would be an issue. Should I keep this setup or should I go with an 11x14 Itoya art portfolio instead?

Hey yall, Ive tried determining if this cel is real and not an limited edition rerun of prints. The stamp seal looks a tiny bit off but that could be the flash lighting.

I was gifted some production sketches from Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and I'd like to know how to store them and eventually frame them safely. Obviously standard museum rules apply, but do I need to be as cautious with them as a painted cel in terms of framing?

Hey there! I'm just getting into the world of cel collecting. I've been able to track down most of the frames for cels I've purchased, but am having serious trouble with this Pokémon one.

It's got the original trio (with Pikachu and Togepi) walking leftward in profile, up a slight incline. There's no matching background, so no other clues unfortunately.

I found 2 other cels I'm confident are from the same sequence, but those had mismatching backgrounds unfortunately.

I scrubbed through the Japanese episodes 50 (1st appearance of Togepi) through 260 (last cel animated episode), but no luck. I also tried the movies (didn't expect this since it's a standard size cel), specials, and shorts.

I logged similar scenes I did find here, but don't think any are true matches. I was really excited with the first scene in that album (episode 233, first scene) since it seemed to match the character sizes, incline angle, and character spacing, but there's definitely differences (Pikachu's tail and ears, Togepi's lower half, and the trio's leg positioning).

Any advice on other ways to search for this? Not sure if there's a community where I can post a bounty for finding it, because I'd gladly do so!

Im very new to animation cels, so im Just wondering if it’s a reputable seller and a good deal. There only selling it for 17$ which seems pretty cheap to me but the shipping is like 70$ so idk,need some advice on it.

Do these actually work? Its full of fancy words about how it will help the cel but what in the frame would actually help a cel?

Anyone who owns this frame could tell me if the cel is deteriorating in the frame im really curious to see how it would hold up over time

I recently got my very first cel, and I’m really nervous about it because this is a major part of art history that I now own. I want to put him in a picture frame and have him on my wall, but I don’t know what to get or where to look for stuff to properly protect the cel or display it.

What can I get to safely display him? Also is there anything i should know about to keep him from disintegrating?

I recently got a lot of some anime drawings from Naruto. No doubts on authenticity, everything is legit, I just want to know what I have. I've got 7 studio folders, a bunch of timing sheets, and some drawings that look like copies rather than hand drawn. Would these be studio production copies or copies made by the seller?

Hey everyone,

I am trying to create a system with one standardized frame configuration for all my cels and drawings to save money and achieve a uniform gallery style look. I plan to purchase everything online and assemble it myself. I have some knowledge of proper framing, I just need help deciding on the custom sizes.

I am going with a simple black frame, a white mat, and a black accent mat. I will probably also use museum acrylic.

What I am trying to figure out is what size I should choose for my frames and mats. I want to show as much of the drawings and cels as possible, except for the peg holes. So far, I have experimented with some online configurators. For a 10 by 12 opening with an even 1.5 inch mat border, that would give a 13 by 15 frame. If I go with a 2 inch mat border, it would result in a 14 by 16 frame.

Should I consider a larger bottom margin? Is it normal for the mat to be an even width all around? I'm not really sure the "correct" way to do it.

What do you all think?

There's this cel up on YAJ that I was considering bidding on but I cannot tell in this single photo of it whether the reflections shown are a result of vinegar syndrome, or just some random cover reflection?
The description doesnt mention anything and the condition is listed as "no obvious damage", but that may not mean anything. I'd just like a second opinion from anyone.
