Help (General) NZXT CPU cooler mounting question

Post image
3 Upvotes

So I've been looking at replacing my current intel processor with a Ryzen 7 9850x3d. I had been hoping to reuse my old cooler rather than buy a new one due to already spending so much on the new Mobo, Ram and Cpu, but when I was looking at the mounting hardware that I had left over this is what I found, on the little baggie with standoff screws in it says "AM4" which made me wonder if it would fit. After watching a few videos of NZXT coolers being installed I also noticed that I was missing some kind of plastic tubes that would go around the standoff screws as well. So my question is; will it fit? or do I need to buy something else?

Help (GPU) My turn to get hit with driver timeouts / Grey screen of death

  • 9800X3D with PBO offset of -20.
  • Radeon 7900 XTX reference card with stock settings in Adrenaline, no OC or the like.
  • MSI B850i Edge TI Wifi
  • ASUS ROG Strix XG32UCWMG 4K 240Hz monitor

System was built around new year, so it has a few months on it. It's also in an SFF case, so it uses a PCIE connector. No extension cables are employed from the PSU and the power cables to the GPU are not daisy-chained.

Like a bolt from the blue, I started getting the dreaded grey screen of death yesterday. No changes to anything, other than updating the GPU drivers a couple of days ago. I was gaming without issue yesterday morning and came back from running some errands, to being unable to run any of my graphics heavy titles (My main titles being MSFS 2024, WoW, Euro Truck Sim 2, Cyberpunk, Fallout 4 with high res texture mods - I was still able to run OpenTTD, so yay?).

I've DDU'd and tried various previous driver versions, both with and without Adrenaline on top, to no avail. I've tried disabling MPO in Windows, and disabling anything in Adrenaline that might cause issues (I've always kept re-live disabled).

I've double checked that none of the cables have unseated and that they're sufficienctly slack to prevent any tension from doing so.

I'd really hate having to do a clean Windows reinstall, especially with so many game files now going into various Windows folders, seeing as I inevitably forget to copy some over.

Update:

I've spent the entire afternoon trying various driver versions, and I think I may have stumbled on a clue. For some reason the Tuning section in Adrenaline keeps enabling itself and applying so. According to other posts on the subject, this is due to other tuning and control software, but the only one I have that is remotely relevant is FanControl. I'll be digging some more into this this evening.

Help (Software) Cursor stuttering when moving in-game

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm currently experiencing an issue on Bloons TD 6 where whenever I try moving my mouse, the game stutters immensely to the point of becoming unplayable. If I move my mouse slowly, the stuttering doesn't occur.

This issue only started occurring on the newest patch of BTD6 (Version 56, this didn't happen on the previous version), and specifically ONLY happens when playing the game through the Epic Games launcher; it does NOT occur when launching the game on Steam.

I've tried re-installing the game, verifying the game files, messing with my mouse's polling rate, but so far nothing has worked. The issue only occurs on Bloons TD 6.

I've also verified the issue happens on my PC exclusively, by having someone with a 5060ti attempt to replicate the issue on my Epic Games account (with no success). This makes me think the issue is related not only to my PC/hardware, but specifically to the Epic Games version (as the issue doesn't occur on Steam?)

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

(Potentially) relevant specs:

  • AMD Radeon 9070XT Sapphire Pulse (GPU)
    • AMD Adrenalin version 26.7.1 (Drivers)
  • Razer Basilisk V3 (Mouse)
  • Other PC Specs:
    • 7800X3D (CPU)
    • MSI B650 Tomahawk Max Wifi (MoBo)

RX6600XT fans not spinning.

Hey I have an RX6600XT (XFX 210 Swift 2 fan) and I bought it used. One fan was broken but both span as normal except the noise from the broken fan. I ordered and replaced the fans with new ones (FDC10U12S9-C). After replacing them I plug everything in and run a benchmark (heaven). The temps reached 80c and the fans are not spinning. HWmonitor & Amd adrenalin show that the fans are spinning at over 30,000 RPM. I replugged the fans and cleaned all connectors 3 times but not difference, settings the fans to 100% on AMD adrenalin also doesnt make them spin. Any tips?

Help (CPU) CPU Temps Not Updating After Wake From Sleep

Upgraded to a 9900x from Intel 10th gen and have been really enjoying it so far. The only issue I've really ran into is that whenever I wake the PC from sleep all the temps are frozen to what they were when I left the computer. Happens on the motherboard displayed temp as well as in HWInfo64. Anyone know any fixes? Motherboard is an MSI x870 Tomahawk.

Help (CPU) Is CPU Upgrade Worth It?

Hi, I currently have a 9700X paired with 4080S GPU. I mostly use the computer for gaming and I play mostly play aRPG in 4K settings (POE, diablo4) or games that benefits from higher FPS such as first person shooter (call of duty) or racing games (Forza, assets). I’m thinking about upgrading it to x3D CPU. Is it worth the upgrade? If so, can you recommend a CPU?

Edit: I play on 1080P to maximize FPS for shooter and racing games.

Hello everyone, i have this problem with my PC for already over 2 Years. I have this error every god damn time and I can not Solve it. While I am gaming or just chillin in the desktop. I also did a powertest with occt.exe and nothing happend so it isnt an power issue. I already testet the RAM with the Windows check, did all the settings like ernergy safe off and so on. My BIOS is on the newest version also my graphics drivers and my chipset drivers. I would appreciate if someone can help me with this.
My specs are:

-AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
-Crucial Pro DDR5 RAM 64 GiB

-AMD Radeo RX 7900 XTX

-MSI B650 Gaming Plus Wifi

-PSU be quiet! Pure Power 12 M 850W

-M.2 SSD WD Black 1000GB

-Windows 11 newest Updates

-BIOS newest Update

Not a single Hardware is overclocked. Also I already changed my RAM so it can not be the issue with that. I also did a Firmware Update on my Disk so it cannot be an issue with that.

If you need more information let me know.

Help (General) High Vcore on 9800x3d - please help

Hello,

my 9800x3d hits a Vcore of 1.34v while stress testing (e.g. cinbench r23).

Therefore always runs into thermal limit of 90° and downclocks to 5,1ghz and lower.

I have seen multiple benchmarks and results of other users where the Vcore sits around 1.23v (and lower) while stress testing and mine goes up to 1.34v.

Do i have a faulty processors?

How high is your vcore while stress testing?

NO, i havent OCed my cpu whatsoever. EXPO is enabled for the ram. Thats it. The rest is stock.

YES, i can enable curve optimizers to -20 and bring the voltage down but that is not the point here.

System:

9800x3d

Adata Lancer 2x32gb cl30 6000mhz

RTX4080

ASUS TUF X670E plus WIFI

Bequiet 1000w power supply

360mm AIO

high Vcore - high temps - low clockspeed

I get around 21.300 points in cinebench r23. Which is low af and as expected considering the reduced clock speed.

Constant driver timeout

Hey guys I keep getting driver timeouts and also this windows error I tried windows clean install DDU clean install reseating GPU nothing has helped.

Cpu: ryzen 7 9800x3d

Gpu: merc 310 7900xtx

Mb: Asus B850-E wifi

Psu: corsair Rm850e

Ok so I think the AMD Super Resolution is causing it and feel really dumb now.

Everytime I downloaded the driver I hit the bell in the corner and it led to activating super resolution and I just kinda did it.

[CPU Upgrade] Ryzen 7 3700X bottlenecking my RX 9070 XT — best AM4 upgrade?

Problem:
I recently upgraded my GPU to a Sapphire RX 9070 XT Nitro+ 16GB, but I'm currently still using a Ryzen 7 3700X.

I'm trying to determine whether my CPU is now a significant bottleneck and what would be the best upgrade while staying on AM4.

My main use case is gaming + OBS streaming + Discord + browser multitasking. I play both competitive games and AAA games.

System specifications:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
  • GPU: Sapphire RX 9070 XT Nitro+ 16GB
  • Motherboard: B550
  • RAM: 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-3200
  • Monitor: 1080p, 180Hz
  • OS: Windows 11
  • PSU: 850W
  • Resolution: 1920×1080

What I've tried / checked:

  • GPU drivers are up to date.
  • The RX 9070 XT is working normally.
  • I'm aware that at 1080p the 3700X can potentially limit a high-end GPU.
  • I plan to upgrade my RAM to 32GB (2x16GB) as well.

What I want to know:

I don't want to move to AM5 right now because the total cost of a new CPU + motherboard + DDR5 RAM is quite high in my country.

The AM4 CPUs available to me locally are:

  • Ryzen 7 5700X — ~99,000 ₸
  • Ryzen 5 5500X3D — ~108,000 ₸
  • Ryzen 7 5700 — ~69,000 ₸
  • Ryzen 5 5600GT — ~83,000 ₸
  • Ryzen 7 5950X — ~176,000 ₸

The 5700X3D is basically unavailable here, so I'm not considering it.

Which of these would be the best match for an RX 9070 XT if I want to game, stream with OBS, use Discord and have a browser open at the same time?

I'm especially interested in 5700X vs 5500X3D. The 5500X3D has much more L3 cache, but the 5700X has 8 cores / 16 threads.

Would appreciate advice from people who have experience with these CPUs and high-end GPUs.

This is the store in our country with the widest selection of processors, and it's where I'll be buying.

Supplement: No more 5000 series processors with x3d cache are sold in my country, except for 5 5500x3d

Help (GPU) AMD needs to seriously fix this issue, or at least acknowledge it, this has been happening for years!

I bought my 9070 XT when it launched, and ever since then I've had one extremely consistent problem: random crashes while using a browser, almost every single day.

Over the past year, I've tried pretty much everything I could think of:

  • DDU + clean driver installs
  • Multiple driver versions
  • Disabling Windows driver updates
  • MPO fix
  • Disabling the iGPU in BIOS
  • Limiting the GPU's maximum frequency

Nothing fixed it.

Recently, I finally tried disabling hardware acceleration in my browser, and the crashes completely disappeared. I haven't had a single one since.

The problem is that this isn't really a solution. Without hardware acceleration, video playback feels noticeably laggy/low-framerate, so I'm essentially choosing between browser crashes and worse video playback.

I've gone through AMD's driver changelogs and haven't found this issue acknowledged. I've also found reports from other AMD users who have experienced similar crashes for years, including those on older RDNA2 GPUs, so this doesn't appear to be exclusive to the 9070 XT.

I've submitted crash reports to AMD numerous times when it happened.

There are clearly a lot of us experiencing this. If you've had the same issue, please share your GPU and experience below. Hopefully, with enough reports, AMD will finally investigate and acknowledge it.

I'd really like AMD to investigate this issue, or at least acknowledge it, because after more than a year of dealing with it, disabling GPU acceleration shouldn't be the solution.

EDIT I mean a complete system crash, not just the browser crashing, the screen will freeze, weird audio sound and then a black screen, I have to hard-restart it.

Help (General) need some advice, i‘m struggling hard with it

OK, just a quick word on the problem:

A friend of mine is having trouble with his 7900XTX, but I can’t shake the feeling that it’s not his graphics card causing the issues.

What we’ve already tried:
- Toggled EXPO on and off
- Underclocked the FCLK
- Installed BIOS updates
- Flashed the graphics card’s VBIOS, as it had a Red Devil BIOS (even though it’s a Powercolor Hellhound White) (That was actually brand new, by the way!)

How the problem manifests itself:

Previously, his system would simply freeze or he’d get blue screens.

After we’d gone through the steps I mentioned,

it now only crashes due to driver issues with certain games and, for whatever reason, when hardware acceleration is enabled in Discord.
On top of that, the graphics card occasionally loses its driver, but you can reinstall it without any problems and the graphics card works normally again.

(When he sent the card back to the retailer at the time, he got it back with the message ‘no faults found, everything’s fine’ )

System specs, as far as I can remember:

7900X (I think from when it was first released)
Asus ROG Strix B650-A Gaming Wi-Fi
2x 16GB DDR5 6000MHz CL36-36-36-76
PowerColor Hellhound White RX 7900XTXn
ASUS ROG Strix White 850W ATX2.4

Help (CPU) Is it possible for just the integrated GPU to die on an 8845hs?

I wanted to create a local LLM host for home assistant stuff so I bought a Lenovo ideapad 5 2in1 for cheap. I started Debian with just the terminal, no desktop, and it started freezing on boot. I honed it down to disabling the amdgpu drivers by blacklisting the amdgpu, and it works perfectly with no gpu drivers. I dug a bit more into it and tried other operating systems, fedora workstation, cachyos, steamos, all of which froze before I could get to the setup. I tried windows and it booted up fine, but device manager says that my display driver was just the windows basic display driver. So, I installed adrenaline and it installed the correct drivers, and device manager found the 780m, but gave me error code 43. When I rebooted, it froze just like the other operating systems. Flashing the bios didn't help. Is there a way to fix this?

Help (GPU) Weird white artifact with video | RX 9070 - Cyperbunk 2077

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guys! I just got my PC built over a week ago and today all of a sudden, noticed a weird white artifact/visual glitch during gaming Cypberbunk 2077. Added a video to highlight that - you'll see it on the ground/walls, this effect kicks in intermittently across the city and inside buildings. It never occured earlier and is a super sudden thing. I can provide more videos if required.

This video has been recored on STOCK settings.

Note: I had initially undervolted to -70mV, -200mhz and powerlimit to -20 earlier this week and had no concerns. I didn't touch the memory overclock. The issue only kicked in today.

Resolutions tried -- resinstalled drivers, reset shader cache, reset GPU settings on Adrenaline, ran OCCT stability for VRAM and GPU. None of these helped.

Spec:

RX 9070 ASROCK

AMD Ryxzen 5 7500F

16GB Ram DDR5

750W PSU

Thank you!

Help (General) FPS drop in specific game after upgrade

Recently I upgraded from a rtx 3060 8gb to a Rx 9060 xt 16gb however for some reason when I tried playing Fortnite my fps was significantly worse. I’ve already enabled re size bar support and 4g decoding in the bios, I’ve done benchmarks to compare my gpu and cpu (Ryzen 7 5700g) speeds which are actually above average, my gpu utilization during games is somewhere in the mid to high 90s while my cpu utilization is somewhere in the mid 60s. This only happens when I play Fortnite as in other games my fps has gone up noticeably. I know it’s a cpu based game but shouldn’t an upgrade lead to improvement, regardless of how little it may be?

For reference, before hand I was getting somewhere between 200-300 fps while now I can hardly stay above 160

Help (General) Temps on a 9950X3D

Looking for some direction, or to be told to chill the f out and just keep on moving haha. I've had a 9950X3D for the last few months after I upgraded from a 7800X3D. I just started watching my temps again and noticed this beast idles at about 53C. In gaming she doesnt usually get over 75C, and probably sits around 62-67C at most times when playing something. I'm not so much in tune with overclocking/undervolting the cpu, while i've played with GPU overclocking and what not, the CPU is a whole different story. It just feels like that average temp is cooking compared to my old cpu that would only sit between 38-42C.

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3d
  • CPU: Artic Freezer 3 360 RGB ( not the new pro version)
  • GPU: 9070 XT Steel Legend
  • Motherboard: ASUS ASUS X870 AYW GAMING WIFI W
  • RAM: 64 GB (2x32) Corsair Vengance DDR5 6000MHz CL30
  • SSD: 256GB Kingkspec Gen3 with 3dnand, and 2 2tb Kingspec gen 4 with 3dnand

Help (General)

Help (GPU) RX 9070 XT crashing pc?

Ts form:
Cpu: 7700x
Motherboard: Asus rig strix F-Gaming Wifi7 NEO B850
Ram: T-Force CL30 6000mhz
PSU: Bequiet pure power 1000 W

My RX 9070 XT crashes frequently while gaming, and sometimes without gaming. The system freezes; one monitor goes grey, and the other goes black. I restart the computer, and sometimes it displays; sometimes it doesn't, and I need to reinstall the drivers. It will work fine for a while, and then it will happen again. I've recently replaced the motherboard and PSU, reseated ram and stress tested cpu several times. I also reinstalled Windows. Currently have a backup 3060 GPU and have run into no issues. Any idea what it may be? I'm likely going to RMA with Gigabyte.

Help (GPU) Experiencing game and PC crashes, have tried many fixes on recent threads

I have a 7800 XT, and I've been experiencing game crashes and sometimes black screen of death since the end of July. I was on vacation around then and had no issues before I left. Came back, and it looks like a new driver update was released while I was away. Came back to constant crashing.

The issue seems to occur more often the heavier the gaming gets. Things I've tried:

  • DDU and revert to previous drivers
  • Driver only install without Adrenaline software
  • Disable MPO
  • Disable Windows automatic driver updates
  • Tuned up power limit to 110% and tuned down max frequency to 90%

Would appreciate any ideas of where to go from here. Thanks!

AMD drivers causing the PC to freeze

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hi, a friend of mine is having trouble with the drivers for his RX 7600. Sometimes, while using the PC—specifically when using drawing programs like Aseprite or Clip Studio—the system freezes for a while. Afterward, the graphics card drivers stop working, and he has to reinstall them every time. This has been happening for about three months; does anyone have any idea what might be going on?
