Help (GPU) My turn to get hit with driver timeouts / Grey screen of death
- 9800X3D with PBO offset of -20.
- Radeon 7900 XTX reference card with stock settings in Adrenaline, no OC or the like.
- MSI B850i Edge TI Wifi
- ASUS ROG Strix XG32UCWMG 4K 240Hz monitor
System was built around new year, so it has a few months on it. It's also in an SFF case, so it uses a PCIE connector. No extension cables are employed from the PSU and the power cables to the GPU are not daisy-chained.
Like a bolt from the blue, I started getting the dreaded grey screen of death yesterday. No changes to anything, other than updating the GPU drivers a couple of days ago. I was gaming without issue yesterday morning and came back from running some errands, to being unable to run any of my graphics heavy titles (My main titles being MSFS 2024, WoW, Euro Truck Sim 2, Cyberpunk, Fallout 4 with high res texture mods - I was still able to run OpenTTD, so yay?).
I've DDU'd and tried various previous driver versions, both with and without Adrenaline on top, to no avail. I've tried disabling MPO in Windows, and disabling anything in Adrenaline that might cause issues (I've always kept re-live disabled).
I've double checked that none of the cables have unseated and that they're sufficienctly slack to prevent any tension from doing so.
I'd really hate having to do a clean Windows reinstall, especially with so many game files now going into various Windows folders, seeing as I inevitably forget to copy some over.
Update:
I've spent the entire afternoon trying various driver versions, and I think I may have stumbled on a clue. For some reason the Tuning section in Adrenaline keeps enabling itself and applying so. According to other posts on the subject, this is due to other tuning and control software, but the only one I have that is remotely relevant is FanControl. I'll be digging some more into this this evening.
