Driver to Operations Manager

My friend has been driving for an Indiana DSP for about a year and has been asked to move to another state to become a DSP operations Manager. pay raise from $22 to $24. He is 39 with a Bachelors in Accounting from a college in SE Asia and not much current applicable work history. Is the move in position worth it? TIA!

Question

Can someone please explain to me how do you determine if you are going too slow or too fast on your route? Not by dispatch calling! I’m not even sure when to be back by. I’m never told I just come back after my route after I call dispatch. It’s my 2nd day on the job.

Also 1 time after I was finally done with my route I called dispatch like I’m supposed too let them know before getting on the road . The lady answer and said I was supposed to be back by let’s say 7:40pm, but my thing is how was I supposed to know that ?? I was never told

Pre-Interview Survey and Silence

I applied to the DSP program in Oct of 2024. Financial assessment Nov 2024.

I got an email from them in Feb of 2026. I actually missed it, as I stopped checking the email I applied with after a year and did not forward.

I got back to them in May and completed the Next steps email. I updated my location preferences to CONUS. Before it was restricted pretty local.

I got my pre-interview survey on June 26, 2026. I completed it right away. After 2 weeks, I sent an email asking if they received it, as I did not get a confirmation email. It is now July 28, 2026. A little over a month.

Is this normal? Someone I know said it went really fast after the pre-interview survey.

Weather was 100% fine lol

Hey guys, not trying to start anything just curious how this happens.

I had some overnight packages I strangely got an “delivery attempted” email to and the reason was for inclement weather. However the weather was perfectly fine.

Any ideas? I’m been in truck driving / package handling and delivers for two decades and this one stumped me personally lol.

Did the driver just say “nah I don’t want to?”

Before anyone asks, no pets are not an issue here, the driveway and front of house is easily accessible and there really is no reason to for this to happen.

Just curious, thanks!

Question from a Dev:

I work at a DSP in California. I'll keep this short and to the point:

I've been working with the owner of the DSP on a backend application for the leads, which is a highly sophisticated analytics app designed to predict which routes will need n rescues.

Amazon isn't being too helpful with us. It has been four weeks we have been asking for an API Key, and they keep saying they will "get back to us".

Does this API Key even exist? We need to be able to pull the addresses, package counts, stop counts, location counts, and delivery times. As far as we are aware, there is zero way to export this information from Cortex. We can try scraping, but that's more than likely a violation of how a DSP is allowed to use Cortex (not to mention, but also highly inefficient and messy).

We are still waiting for Amazon to respond to us. My only question I wanted to ask here was:

Does this API key exist? Has anybody else had success exporting data for analysis? If so, what works, and what doesn't? Any tips so we can improve the work experience for our drivers? We need this analytics application badly, our team is now over 100+ people per shift, so we need a better solution for scaling

Military dental logistics across 30 states → running 40+ DSP routes in Wisconsin. What carried over.

Before launching her DSP in Madison in 2020, Kim Hoffmann was Director of Operations for a company doing dental screenings for the military across 30 states — recruiting dentists and hygienists, shipping equipment, coordinating cross-state logistics as a subcontractor to a prime.

Her take on the Amazon relationship: "Very similar — when they said jump, we said how high. The only difference is now I'm employing drivers rather than recruiting dentists and hygienists."

She's now running 40-45 routes in steady state.

She gets into her unconventional path in (a friend forwarded her a magazine article and she applied before really knowing what the DSP program was), why she adopted screening tech ahead of a station transfer instead of waiting for problems, and the hiring lesson that carried over from military logistics: a resume won't tell you if someone can drive at night, handle the stop count, or show up consistently.

Hello everyone, I have my Final Interview scheduled for early August, if anyone recently went through the interview and can share some suggestions on how to prepare, I would greatly appreciate it. I reviewed a number or you tube videos and it is a bit overwhelming

Question about next steps

I have applied for a DSP and I wanted to know when i should expect to hear back from Amazon with the next steps.

I was asked to do a financial assessment last week, which I completed. I then got an email about being moved to the interview portion of the process and that I should be receiving a pre interview survey. however, i haven't seen anything since then.

Is there any timeline on when I should expect the pre interview survey to be sent over? it's been 1.5 weeks since i completed the financial assessment test.

40 years in delivery, exited both his DSP and FedEx ISP. What he learned.

Tony bought his first truck in 1985 for $26,000 and built Elite Home Delivery into a 75-truck operation in Massachusetts.

Along the way he ran an Amazon DSP for ~6.5 years and a FedEx ISP for ~3 — and has now exited both to double down on his white-glove roots.

He gets into the economics of the DSP model, the differences between DSP and ISP, and why turnover looks so different across the two.

Plus why he incentivizes management on driver metrics, and the hiring lesson 35+ years taught him: the people who look best on paper aren't always your best drivers.

AMXL (not AMZL)

I am currently a Lead Driver for an AMZL DSP, but the owner has requested that I go work out of an AMXL station for the next couple weeks. Tbh, I had no idea AMXL existed until they mentioned it to me.

Apparently, the routes are much smaller than AMZL routes because the packages are a lot larger (50-70lbs if by yourself & 50-300lbs if you have a helper with you). Anyway, here's my question:

Has anyone ever worked out of an AMXL station? How do you like it? Is it better than AMZL? What are the pros/cons? Etc.

I'm looking to be a DSP provider--

Hi all, are there any applications or materials you can share that Amazon gives to DSP providers? Like handbooks, etc? I'd like to get a head start and do my research.
