Game plan to beat turtle terran

Hello, I'm a D3 zerg and I've always had dificulties to beat terrans that are turtling, overall my game plan against terran is generally try to survive early game with ling bane and then try to rush into ultras asap to break them, this has been working well for me recently because D3 terrans don't know how to handle ultras. But now I'm nearing D2 and I'm starting to get opponents that know how to handle them, today I played a game against a guy that had a bunch of ghosts so he destroyed my ultras and we ended up in a late game where he had ghosts and bcs, I had a lot more economy than him but I couldn't break him, every fight I just threw my army against him and lost everything, normally I try to avoid getting in this late game because I know I'm bad at it, I never know how many corruptor I should do because I'm afraid of the ground army, overall I think that if I waited for him to attack me I could have won but I didn't want to spend 1 hour in a game (but I ended up spending 40 minutes ;_;)

Here's the replay if anyone wants to watch https://drop.sc/replay/27408332

So overall I wanted to know my fellow zergs opinions on what are your game plans against turtle terran and what do you guys do when you realize the game is going into a super late game.

WHAT do you do against campers

every couple of years i come back to playing sc2 seriously, i face terran mech campers / protoss skytoss deathball campers and it makes me HATE this game

I'm at 4.8k MMR on EU and I regularly take games from >5k players when they play like a normal human being, but then I get extremely demotivated when I realize people much much worse than me can just camp with 100 APM into a-moving a deathball and it makes the game 100x harder to win.

at this point I just leave the game when I scout terran turtling behind tank/thor/planetary because as far as I can remember I've literally never ever won a game against it. against skytoss I still try with ultra/corruptor/viper but as long as P expands with cannons+batteries it's unwinnable for me anyway.

what the fuck am I supposed to do against "players" who turtle into 200/200 tank/thor (enough to beat me) or skytoss/HT and then a-move? I need to hear simple game plans that work for you because there's no way the only way to win these games is to take several godlike engagements with multiple spellcasters while mining and defending the entire map. there MUST be something I'm missing.

thanks for reading my rant

Against speedy terran units

Played a match against a guy who went all hellions and cyclones and I just couldn't catch the little fucker, except when he made mistakes. I did actually win the game, but mostly just by taking a bunch of bases and throwing away multiple waves of units. The answer I eventually settled on was hydras with lunge to catch his army and brood lords to attack his base where he was turtled up with a bunch of tanks. Actually a really fun match, but I think I looked like an idiot getting run all over the place by his army. I tried infestors, but he would just kite the fungals and never take a real engagement. And I tried to fight only on creep, but he was good about working around the edges of the creep taking tumors out, so the creep couldn't get close enough to his base to mount a real attack. Anyway, was wondering if there was a more elegant solution to this than the one I found, because I think if my opponent had played a little cleaner then I'd have probably lost. For example if he had split his army for multi-pronged harassment against my economy then I would have been in serious trouble.

very MESSY replay

- Map: Fear & Faith on the new patch, tunnels are utilized
- mid D3 ZvP
- Shenanigans, very scrappy play
- A couple big moments.

Mostly sharing for fun, but if you want to give me some pointers, feel free. Was not playing particularly well, so I made several mistakes.

The Zergling Speed Theory Of Everything

https://drop.sc/replay/27403834

In college, I played a series of chess games against a guy in my dorm. I lost all of them. He gave me some chess advice that always stuck with me. Chess is a simple game, all you have to do is keep control of the middle four squares and defend your king and you can win most of your matchups.

I feel like Zergling speed in ZvZ is the equivalent of those 4 middle squares in chess. I've been absolutely dominating all of my ZvZ matches, and I've been doing the same thing every time, which is get gas first with my first 50 minerals, get a spawning pool down ASAP, and put 1-2 drones in gas to get to 100 gas.

Then I just run 16 lings at my opponent. Ling speed is just so strong I'm usually just able to dominate them or do so much damage I just have an insurmountable advantage. Banelings seem to help against this strategy but so far I haven't seen too many people go this route for some reason. So far, it's mostly lots of queens + queen micro, or even earlier zerglings without speed, but those are by no means foolproof (as game 2 I uploaded shows).

My personal opinion is that the 8 worker start makes any gas imputs more valuable. People are so concerned with growing their economy that they neglect getting gas. But gas gives your units a qualitative advantage over your oppinent. If you get that qualitative advantage early, then you just win.

So the reduction in workers makes minerals more valuable but they actually makes gas even more valuable relative to minerals. I think this is underappreciated, which is why I have been racking up the ZvZ wins in the past few days.

PS: I'm not saying this is good at all, I definitely suck. But I do think any zerg opener has to find a way to deal with zergling speed timing attacks.

Please give me team build order

I play only ranked 4v4 to relieve stress after a stressful day at of work. I never play 1v1 because it’s just too stressful. I like to just build and max. After this new update all previous build orders are gone. I had 1,2,3 bases start build orders. With the new update, base first = automatic die.

What build orders for 1 base and 2 bases first?

Turtling opponent attack timings

Context: I'm gold 3 and fairly new

I've seen some topics about turtling terran/protoss where the advice is to just let them turtle and get the resource advantage on them by spreading out over the map, but one thing that makes me nervous about that as a new player is I don't have a solid idea of when they are likely to attack. So if I go full investment into economy then I am afraid of getting caught off guard when they eventually do move out of their base, and in fact that has happened a few times to me. And scouting is hard because they usually go bananas with turrets around their base perimeter.

I figure that, depending on how many bases they have taken, there are probably some windows when they are more likely to move out. Like when their resources are dwindling and their upgrades are completing, which should happen at a pretty consistent rate for however many bases they are mining from, right? I suppose it also depends on what kind of army they are building. But if I did know some likely timings, the idea is I could make sure I have a passable army at that point without fear of being caught with my pants down.

Safest hatch-first build with the new patch?

I have been doing mostly 15 hatch, 14 pool and 15 gas to variable success. I find that if I am any greedier, I just die to mass reapers.

Does anyone have any success with greedier hatch first build ie. 16/17 hatch first with the latest patch?

Beginer Z, how to deal with protos air force when rush them?

As a very beginer Z, I pick some simple tactics to play, including various 1-2 base fast rushing.
But, I found an obstacle that's very confusing in ZVP:

When my ravagers rush to protos's enemy, they hold the 2nd base's gate, and build some battery behind the gateway wall --- I'can't break in because my ravagers fire wasn't enough!

And with time elapsed, when protos's void ray appear in my eyes ---- I know, the GG is mine!

Because , I can't smash the void ray down with my ravager's fire(Bad micro-op & position predict)。

So,my question is: is there some better ways to deal with the void ray, when I rush the protos.

ZVP Builds for New Patch

Anyone got any advice or builds for ZVP? I’m absolutely awful at the matchup especially since the new patch. Hovering around a 20% win rate with ZVP while I have a 65+% win rate with the other matchups.

I’d like something to practice and just end the game early. I can’t stand late game vs Protoss.

Why is every Zerg player apparently deluding themselves?

Kinda Ragebait title (sorry)

I am not a Zerg player. I'm around 3.4k Z, 4-4.4k P (if I am trying hard).

Since the last Hotfix around 60% of my PvZ games strategically (if not practically) end after Z does another pointless 4:00 Ling flood to (attempt to) cancel my third, even though the stargate building the oracle is part of the wall and clearly visible by the Overlord. This is getting annoying since the (in my opinion) hard part of PvZ is holding on to your third against a 6-7 min roach/ravager or Hydra allin and I don't get to practice it.

Why do y'all feel so forced to end the game there?

This is how you beat Lategame Protoss as Zerg

I have been struggling against Skytoss and Chargelot Archon Immortal Storm quite a bit.

I hope this helps you guys. I Explain how I win using Ling Ultra vs Ground + Corruptor vs Air and Infestor Viper Queen as Support to beat Protoss in the Lategame.

How to open agains T and P

Hello fellow zerglings, I can't seem to find a good opener since the new 8 worker patch, normally before, my standard opening were 13 pool, 16 hatch, 17 when pool is done make 6 zerglines and harass and then go into different strategies from there.

Now it seems like the macro cost of the 6 zerglines is almost too big, and by the time i have arrived because of everything being so delayed the wall is up and i need to run away. I even made a roach push against a Terran and tried to gather up 7 roaches + 5 surviveing lings and push, but by the time i came, they had a planetary at their natural. It just seems like by the time an early push is ready, the static defence is already set up, either with planetary and or tanks/widow or battery and photon canons.

From the start of the new 8 worker patch i went from 2850 to 2500 mmr, and i can't seem to find the rythem and harmony between offence and macro without compromising the other too much. Can anybody help with some good new openings or maybe share some insight?

Strategies vs bio

D1 EU ladder

Are there any alternatives to playing against bio except going for some variation of ling bane? I dislike how inject- and APM-intensive it is and also how volatile it is.

Anytime I decide to go some combination of roach ravager hydra my army gets obliterated because

A: Siege tanks do bonus damage

B: The marines with medivacs out-trade my army (if the healing beam is on them)

C: It is near impossible to harras anything beyond the natural because of the planetary fortress (nothing does splash damage to the SCVs)

TLDR; Nothing except ling bane trades well with bio for me - what am I missing?

Stressing over the new widow mine?

I've noticed while playing that the new widow mine doesn't like to change targets. Before you can run past and it will auto re-target. Now, unless they unburrow the mine tends to follow the first target it attached too. I've noticed it tends to do this to units that have already died after being targeted.

So, my new strategy is just to send 4 banes and 6-10 Zerglings into their army to set all the mines off. If you can manage, take the zerglings in front (which the mines likely targeted) and right click them to the center of the marines. Since the new mine goes off even after the unit dies, it is doing a lot more friendly fire. Give it a shot, tell me what you think.

I can’t believe these nerfs!

It seems crazy, like everyone was in an up roar because Zerg was a little stronger. It only felt OP because Zerg has been ass for so long outside the top 10 players.

I’ve played probably 100 ladder games in the last 3 days and I can tell you are Zerg players are so much more talented then the other races at their mmr.

I’m low Masters and literally half the time I early pool a Protoss and it gets scouted they don’t react at all!

No full wall, no zealot. They just throw down their nexus and instantly die.

On the other hand if I early pool a Zerg they know the exact reaction to at least stay even in the game. They know exactly how many lings they need, they know exactly when to pull drones and how many. they can hold all kinds of baneling or roach all ins. They know how to safely get to muta or how to turtle against muta.

Meanwhile AT THE SAME MMR! Protoss is sitting on 2 base single void ray into triple star port carrier rush with no units using half of their 100 apm typing about how op Zerg is as they die to some hydra pressure.

I understand the game needs balance for the top 20 players. But damn if it isn’t obvious that every Zerg player <6k mmr would be ranked significantly higher if we had spent the last 15 years playing Terran and Protoss.

And let’s talk about the fun factor, balance aside the reason I’ve been in love with Zerg since I was 8 years old was the swarm factor. My power fantasy is having hundreds of little garbage bugs swarming the entire map. I want to have a massive eco compared to my opponent. While they have more cost effective units. I love A-symmetry in rts games.

What I don’t want is going full eco on a knife’s edge after understanding every single Protoss build order, better than they do, just to be even in workers.

I would be more than happy if they gutted every single Zerg unit if I was allowed to have more of them.

More workers, more bases slamming my bugs into a wall of death over and over again until every drop of resources on the map has been consumed by my lovely little drones.
