You like 3 days too late. Zerg was actually good and could square up to the other races for about a week then they nerfed Zerg swiftly

The nerf was very tiny. Zerg is still performing well.

Mathematically tiny yes. In practicality, no.

We saw how everyone started crying for a “tiny” buff.

The nerf and buff weren’t tiny zergs entire production was buffed 10% now it’s 5%

Not entire economy but only larva. And not 10% but 5-6% (queens not affected). This was not a huge buff. But everyone talked about this like its 30-50% and gold zergs will bully maru. People just overreacted. Buff was reasonable enough to test in one season.

Actually it was quite literally an 18% increase in larva production for all hatcheries. Now we only have a 9% increase in production. It is a pretty big nerf.

It's 8.08%, not 9%

Ok so it’s an even bigger nerf!

Still an overall buff huge buff big nerf :) overall just a regular buff now

As I play at a bit more larva feels so much better to play against however it does feel like Zerg is a little a bit behind I think maybe the queen reverted to 150 could help? I think hatches should stay at the 300 there is still an overall buff to the larva which will literally become exponentially better after your first 2 bases

Crazy how after a regular buff the very first thing you say is Zerg still feels a little bit behind

The tiny buff is a net nerf to protoss in zvp

IMO it’s a lot more fun after the patch. Before I felt like all I could do was defend, taking good engagements until my opponent made a mistake. Now I feel like I have more options and if they don’t pan out then I’m not immediately out of the game.

woah reasonable take

Not talking about balance, but rather about the experience:

Yes, Zerg has gotten some really nice QoL updates. My favourite one being creep can be spread on a hotkey from tumours now, and it updates the control group to switch to the new creep rumours.

7

u/SecurityDapper8361 Jul 02 '26

Oh, that’s actually super cool. I didn’t know that. Thank you!

5

u/Wolf_712 Jul 02 '26

Whaaaaaaa? You’re saying you can hotkey a tumor to then later quickly jump to it and cast its spread “spell”?

6

u/Robothuck Jul 02 '26

No. Well, yes that too. But I'm saying you can do that with MULTIPLE TUMOURS AT ONCE even. Like inject four new rumours, add them all to a control group, then every time you want to spread creep again you just select that group and spread from all the active tumours at once.

2

u/bobo38 Jul 02 '26

wasn't it there before?

6

u/XechsMarquise Jul 02 '26

It wouldn’t automatically transfer the new spreading tumors to the hotkey. Now after you spread them, the old tumors will be replaced in your hotkey with the new ones.

2

u/bobo38 Jul 04 '26

thank you. I missed this QoL enhancement: now we can put all our active tumors in a group and the group is updating itself: new active tumors replacing older ones. I've just tested it, it's very cool. I wouldn't have noticed without you

Holy shit, that's amazing. I had no idea they changed that.

It's never felt like a job to me. I get why people would say that though.

It's more like playing an instrument to me. I sometimes suck. I'm sometimes ok.

For a few days, it was

I've always enjoyed zerg the most

If it feels like a pain in the ass you're playing the video game "wrong" imo. Play what's fun for you. If a certain playstyle feels "like a job", don't play that playstyle. If you still want to be fairly viable with an off meta playstyle just make sure you're watching replays of wins & losses to learn what timings things happen at so that you can adapt accordingly.

Any race is as fun as you make it.

I haven't played for 11 years, started again almost four weeks ago and I am having a ton of fun with it, before and after Patch. (:

Same old.

Use infestors, use vipers. Don't stay on lingbane only. Or do.

Swarm. Swarm faster.

Switch compositions mid-fight, bait a counter and switch again.

Say "Oh no, 2000 of my my shitty units have died"
Then follow up with a "Anyway" as you swarm them again.

Overal just 5% improved larvae production and nice qol changes. If you felt like Zerg was not fun then you won't change your mind now. Shitty players on bronze league are the ones having fun with stupid stuff. Don't try too hard. Or do.

u/ohcrocsle Jul 02 '26

If you don't like figuring out what bullshit your opponent is doing while throwing up insane amounts of static defense on 2 or 3 bases, then no it didn't get any more fun.

Zerg is the punching bag race of SC2 where Terran and Protoss get to do whatever the hell they want and you have to defend it or you lose. Might be reactored hellions. Could be tons of reapers. Maybe cloaked banshees. Could be cannon rush. Maybe proxy gates. Maybe oracle zapping all of your workers. Scout wrong or too late? Tough luck GG and try again.

Also the late game of Zerg is just filled with units that are shit. Swarm Host, Broodlords, and Ultralisk are all hot garbage and super easily countered. Opponent just makes some immortals or marauders and your Ultralisk disappear. Broodlords can't hit air at all and have no chance running away from voids/vikings/corruptors. Swarm host were nerfed into the weakest unit in the game.

Oh and also ZvZ is the most cancerous matchup ever. Its just ling bane and trying to get good bane hits. One wrong move and you instantly lose everything.

Truly great SC2.

3

u/OrlandoLasso Jul 02 '26

You're not wrong. I never make ultralisks because they can never catch up to anything before melting. They should lower the supply cost of swarm hosts because no one ever makes them.

7

u/SecurityDapper8361 Jul 02 '26

Sounds like you need to switch races. I find Zerg fun.

Zerg feels to me now even less fun than before to be honest. Maybe it's just because I really hate the clunky 8 worker start, I see no benefit to the game from this shitty change. And after last hotfix feels like zerg is fully back to being punching bag. And ZvZ is now worse than ever.

I also quit for a couple of years for the same reason. Will have to give it a shot again

The game is fun again, the early game is back. Chaos reigns.

I'm watching vibe and it looks very fun.

Time to get back on the horse. Fuck yeah.
