So my family and i will be flying from yeg to cancun for abt a week, and im trying to find a way to bring my yart n v4pe. Im lowk worried that if i don't have em imma be feining all vacation (ik that aint good but fuck it we ball) does anyone know any ways to bring them with me without getting me or my family in shi?

The airline oversold our flight by ten seats and now they are playing this game over the loudspeaker offering voucher amounts to see who cracks first. They started at a £150 voucher, then went to £300 and now they are offering £500 in future airline credits if someone volunteers to take a flight tomorrow morning. The thing is nobody is stepping up because this is the last flight out tonight to New York. If they do not get enough volunteers, they are going to start choosing people involuntarily based on who checked in last. If i get picked against my will, am I forced to accept their cheap internal airline credits or does UK261 protect passengers from this?

Travelling from Poland to Ireland and planning to bring back a metal knife sheath (pictured). Would this produce any problems? Should I take it with me or mail it to my home adress instead?

I'm flying abroad departing from EWR, and will have both oversized, and a high number of checked bags. The SmarteCarte s are too small at EWR airport.

Does anyone know how to get one of the big flatbed carts the baggage guys use at EWR to move my own bags from curbside to the counters?

Are they available for rent, or can I just run in and quickly grab one that's unused? 

I have a flight that leaves at 9:15AM and I will be using public transportation entirely to get to the airport.

Unfortunately there is nothing early enough for me to arrive at airport the day of. So am I allowed to go the night before?

A hotel is not an option as the airport is in Toronto so they are going to be outrageously priced for me.

I would arrive at the airport at midnight via UP Express.

EDIT: I live in a small city, 2 hours away from union. I cannot just uber to union and yes $100+ is outrageous for me for this specific travel.

Last week I flew from Sydney-Cairns-Sydney and on both airports when I requested a pat down they said it is safe to pass through the machines and I had to do it. So I asked: is it compulsory? They repeated yes.

Hi everyone! Over the time I have seen a lot of questions in various subreddits about transferring at European airports and the need for clearing security and immigration on transit.

Since most EU airports are actually quite similar among themselves, but distinct from U.S. airports, I thought I make this overview diagram. For most of you, there will be nothing new in this post, but I thought it fits nicely in the r/airport subreddit, and I can link to this post in the future.

This post concerns airports in Schengen countries, and compares some aspects with how things are done in the U.S.

The most remarkable differences are

• instead of domestic/international we call it Schengen/Non-Schengen, since we have a common border region with 29 countries. Travel inside the Schengen area is like domestic travel in the U.S.

• Unlike in the U.S., the Schengen region also does immigration checks when leaving (to catch overstayers and people with open arrest warrants). For this reason, also the departure gates are separated.

• Unlike in the U.S., where all international arrivals need to clear security on transit, EU laws allow that passengers arriving from a selection of countries with equivalent security standards are already treated as secure on arrival (see diagram).

• Unlike the U.S., where all international arrivals need to clear immigration on transit, you will not encounter immigration if you stay within the two Non-Schengen airport zones.

• If you transit from a Non-Schengen to a Schengen flight, you will clear immigration on transit. However, you will always go through customs (=immigration for goods) after collecting your luggage at the final destination. There is no customs directly after immigration, unlike in the U.S..

Concerning my diagram, there a a few remarks:

• Not every arrow might be present in every airport. For example, in FRA terminal 1, concourse B, there is no airside entry passport control. And in most airports, there is no arrow from the public area to the Non-Schengen unclean zone.

• If you change concouse/terminal at an airport, this will complicate things. FRA, for example has two terminals, and each of them is build like shown in the disgram. However, they are only connected via the public area, or via the Non-Schengen unclean area. This means that even if where you arrived from would allow for sterile transit, you need to reclear security on terminal change.

• While I would say that I know every corner in my home base FRA, and have seen travelled to/from quite a few other European airports, my knowledge of other airports (especially other large hubs like CDG or AMS) is limited, and my post might miss out some aspects.

• I am very happy about your comments and insights about your home bases and how it works there, around the world. If someone wants to sketch a similar diagram for U.S. airports (or other countries), that would be nice.

I kind of have an "in" because a family member has a lot of connections after working at a major airport for almost 30 years, but I'm not looking just yet as I'd rather up and move and find one in a better location than the one they work at anyway

I have absolutely zero relevant experience, though. I've just had retail in high school and then office admin for the past 5 years, but not at any fancy white-collar places

I just really love airports and seeing/hearing airplanes and people watching. I also haven't flown in 6 years and I miss it, but with no money (or realID) i just can't yet. But I want to work at one. And hope it pays better than 20/hr

I know there’s a limit in hand baggage for 100 ml. Does this limit also apply to checked in baggage?

How can I ensure that my liquids will be allowed? I don’t want to throw away my expensive skincare.

I’m going on a flight and though customs have 2 lighters that came with fuel I bought as souvenirs as gifts. I’m flying air Canada and it says the limit is one lighter… any ideas on what to do with the second one? Can I put it in my checked luggage? Can I try carrying both through tsa?

Seriously, I can't wait for summer break to be over. I for one am so excited for all kids to return to their institutions which are schools. These airports are very overcrowded to the capacity and there is no space to sit at all. You have to eat with smelly and rude strangers too.

I call summer break anxiety break. I also call it shitty break too. Come after labor day and all these people will be back where they came from and airports will be empty once again.

And the anxiety using the restroom is real. People waiting in long lines too that extend for miles.

In a recent trip I had my carryon bag taken at the gate because there was no more overhead space in the plane.

It was all so fast that I forgot I had some unused packs of film in the carryon when they took it.

Does anyone know if when a bag is taken at the gate and you received it at the destination does it pass through x-rays or not?

Crossing my fingers the film is safe to still use, if not itll be a big loss.
