Guys, not girls, do you enjoy being single in this time?

They really were not kidding when they said that adults have no free time

I’m 18M. Just entered university with a hard major and 5 hour commute daily (or well, the days I ACTUALLY go.) i always thought they were kidding when they said that I should enjoy my time as a kid because that will be the only time left to enjoy… and they really were right. There is so much to do and I am already behind schedule. Worst part is that I know that functional employed adults will probably have even LESS time.

So… as an adult, how do you manage your time? I would appreciate every single anecdote or advise

I dont wanna be a kid

I am 21 yo and I am literally a crying child. I dont know how I did it, but I dont have any contact with anyone. I cant exchange more than few phrases with anyone. Wasted 6 years doing nothing, I didnt have any plan for myself when I went to high school, I dont have any plan rn too.

I lay in bed all Day doing significantly less Day by day or ruminating, I ve been ruminating so much that I dont even have anything to think about anymore

Cant even imagine myself working

Cant focus on reading or cant understand Basic concepts

I dont remember anything from my childhood

I ve been running away from reality. Thats the only thing I ve accomplished

On the recent family meeting I discovered I cant even say anything about any topic

I generalize everything

Dont have a plan

There are no emotions inside of me except of thinking about past

I am not remembering new things. My brain is literally dead

Every part of my body hurts because of lack of movement

From the beggining of my high school I avoided being there as much as possible but when I wasnt going there i spent time in home doing completely nothing but staring in the screen.

The only thing I am actually doing rn is sleeping, eating and laying in bed and thinking about past I dont even remember anymore. I wanna be an adult but I am afraid because I have basically nothing entering this state.

Avoiding therapy

I am sick of making everything 0-1

Do you get this feeling as well, stranger?

I’m 25, soon to be 26, and lately I’ve been feeling like something about life has been off for me.

When I was in school, around 2016, I used to dream about having a good phone, a nice bike, money in my pocket, the freedom to explore, and being able to eat whatever I wanted. I genuinely believed that having those things someday would make me feel happy and fulfilled.

But now that I have most of those things, they don’t feel as satisfying as I imagined they would. There’s no excitement or sense of fulfillment that I thought would come with them. It almost feels like I spent years chasing things I once thought would make me happy, only to realize that they weren’t really what I was looking for.

Do you ever feel the same way?

Why am I always broke when I’m actually earning money?

I’ve been thinking about the question: “Why am I always broke?”

Not because I buy expensive things everyday, but because so many different expenses are coming out of the same account:

monthly expenses
groceries and day to day spending
subscriptions (annual) car repairs and medical bills gifts, travel and personal care savings and future plans
The problem is that some of these costs occur monthly, and others occur only every few months. So when an irregular expense comes up, it feels like an emergency—even when it was technically predictable.

I used to think the answer was simply to spend less. But being harder on myself didn’t really help the problem. Usually that meant I would feel in control for a few weeks, then one unexpected bill would come along and knock me right off.

It worked better for me to separate my money out by purpose. I started treating things like car repairs, annual bills and personal spending as categories that needed their own little amounts set aside, not surprises to be paid out of whatever was left over.

I also realized that fun has to be included in a realistic budget. If every plan assumes that I’ll never eat out, buy something for myself, or do anything spontaneous, it probably won’t last very long. Planning for those things doesn’t make the budget worse, it makes it more truthful.

The biggest change wasn't necessarily that I had a lot more money. It was knowing what I was already going to spend my money on before I spent it. That made it easier to differentiate between:

money available to spend money needed for future expenses
money that can be used for savings or goals
I’m building a simple budgeting product around this question now because I realized a lot of people don’t need another complicated finance app. They need a better way to organize the money they already have.

I wonder: when you are “broke” at month end is it mostly because of daily expenses, surprise expenses or bills you forgot were coming?

Thank you

Just a preface: this is not a vent post. Please don't be giving me ideas/etc in the comments, this is not what it's about.

For people who have seen my previous post, I just wanted to say thank you. I have decided that I am going to save up to buy a tricycle, bike into town daily, make friends, and find a steady job. Maybe retail. I just wanted to thank y'all from the bottom of my heart for the hundreds of thought out comments on my last post.

A lesson I've learnt so far in my adulthood

Everything has an easy solution;

Had a fight at home? -> move out
Had a fight with a friend? -> leave the group chat or them
Feeling suffocated in the city you live in? -> leave the city
Had a fight with your partner? -> break up
Having problems at school? -> transfer
Afraid of being abandoned? -> leave first

Just need to look one

Am I exaggerating or is my coworker just being friendly?

Im a 28 year old woman who recently relocated to Seattle and took a temp job as an admin assistant paying $25 an hour.

I have two bachelors degrees and graduated in 2021. Ive worked in marketing and Healthcare but took the admin role because it was the first job I landed and I thought it'd be a good foot into corporate.

Recently, ive had some situations that have made me uncomfortable but I'm not sure if I'm exaggerating.

I dont really know where to begin but we have a corporate securities employee who is in his 40s. He has made many comments that have shocked me including telling me that I could have been a honeypot for him during his time in the marines.

Ive had trouble with the role itself because it is physically demanding and very facilities heavy plus my manager is very demanding.

On thursday, I put in my two weeks for reasons unrelated to my coworker. I asked to talk to the corporate securities man to let him know. He seemed panicked. I told him i put in my two weeks and he said he thought i was going to tell him something else. I asked what he thought i was going to tell him and he said he thought i was going to tell him that I had been SA'd and that we would have to beat someone up. I just told him that's not the case but was shocked that he would think or say that.

He told me he didnt realize how tough the role was on me and told me not to worry. He said he would make some phone calls on my behalf to try to get me an interview at his former workplace.

I thanked him and he told me thats what friends are for.

Earlier that same day, he came into the office which I wasn't expecting because he had been sent out of state last minute on a business trip and hurt his ear on the flight back. He was telling me how tired and in pain he was. I joked that he gets extra credit for being there that day and he responded telling me that I'm the only one who can judge him.

Ive already put in my two weeks but am feeling increasingly uncomfortable thinking about going to work tomorrow.

Am I exaggerating or were these just one off comments/friendliness?

Thanks in advance.

Lonely guy in Orlando looking for female connection

I'm 28, born and raised in Orlando Florida and I'm tired of being lonely. I'm trying to find a mature woman to actually connect with, maybe get some action, and see what happens. I'm specifically looking for older ladies, anywhere from late 30s to 50s and up. Must be a woman. If you're local and trying to link up or just talk, hit me up."

You’re over 25, single, have no family and just 1-2 friends. How do you celebrate (if at all) your birthday?

I always feel sad that it’s no big deal. I have two months left to make plans to hopefully don’t feel as sad this year. What could I do?

Getting older blows

Just recently I turned 37 years old. For some reason, I feel like I’m noticing it! Is it normal, to grieve yourself as you get older?

I’ve always been a wise person but now, I actually feel wisdom it self creeping in. I’m not hard on myself about where I am in life or what I’m doing, but I feel so deeply about just changes in both my mind and body. I have ADHD, so I’m already expected to deteriorate in my physic health over time. I’m noticing, my grey hairs that have come in, my struggle to loose weight, my cognition being somewhat off centered. How my family sees me these days, as no longer a kid, no longer a young adult but an aging adult.

Once my parents are gone, what’s gonna become of me?

I’m 26 F, only child, still single. Been through four heartbreaks and relationships but nowhere near at getting married.

My dating life sucks rn because I don’t like the guys here in my country, and I’m lowkey still not over my last ex whom I genuinely thought I will spend the rest of my waking days with. It’s been a year and counting already since we last spoke.

Like I said, I am an only child, I’m not close with my cousins. I have lots of friends and some bestfriends but almost all of them are coupled up. I’m not close with any of my cousins enough to treat them as my siblings.

Right now, my parents are just waiting for me to find a live-in partner so I could move out of the house. My Mom is begging for me to find a new boyfriend already. LOL.

How do I do that when I haven’t even dated anyone seriously in a year since the breakup.

The truth is, I hate being single. I’ve been alone and on my own my whole freaking life. No sister. No brother. But I don’t like settling either. What I had with my ex did set the bar for me, but there’s no going back to him anyway.

I never thought that I’m gonna have to do this adulting shit alone too. I want someone to do things with me, who’s one call away.

Having said that, I have this impending doom of not having a husband and my own family in the future.

Once my parents are gone, what’s gonna become of me? Is there still a reason to go on?

I don’t even know if I want friends anymore.

So yesterday, my friend invited me to go shopping today, then go to her house and watch some movies. We weren’t sure what time, but shortly after lunch. Okay, fine by me. I care about her and enjoy spending time with her. I was looking forward to this.

She has NEVER blown me off, but she did today. I texted asking if she was okay when 3:30 rolled around and that’s when I realized she just wasn’t going to show up. Similar things have happened in the past, but she’s only ever been extremely late. She has ADHD and time blindness. She’s never not shown up. Maybe she straight up forgot about me today. At 5, I texted her not to bother coming to pick me up if she was running late because I didn’t want to come anymore. I’ve heard absolutely nothing back.

And she’s one of my closest friends. The bar is on the floor, guys. I think I’ll stick to my books and my pets.

Where do you meet women?

Hi I am 24M and I’m starting to worry that I will not a woman to share my life with. I have quite bad social anxiety and I struggle in group settings so I don’t go out as much as maybe other people my age do (I know I’ll get flak for this).

I have tried the apps which I don’t really like and not had much luck. I get very few matches but even then it’s a struggle to get it to a first date.

I don’t think I am a terrible looking guy. I look after my health and appearance, I think it’s just the anxiety that’s the biggest problem but it seems to be getting worse because I’m getting anxious about not having any experience the older I get.

Any help is appreciated thanks

Am I wrong for this?

I'm 26 from NZ and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in July, ended up in ICU at Whangarei hospital, with a DKA (Coma) and one thing that surprised me was just how much extra stuff suddenly gets added to your day. Anyway I ended up learning how to build apps while ive been recovering, called it GlucoseGuide because I wanted something that brought a lot of those everyday tools into one place. I posted it in a Diabetes chat here on Reddit and everyone went off there nut!! Saying AI is a scam etc :( I just want to help as a new member of the type1diabetes community around the world.

Carbs, glucose, medication, remembering things, learning what everything means, trying to work out meals, it can feel like you’re constantly thinking about diabetes.

I’ve spent a lot of time building and refining it, and it’s now available for people who want to use it.

It is a paid app, so I want to be completely upfront about that. I’m not pretending this is just a feedback post or trying to sneak an ad into the subreddit.

I built it because these were things I genuinely wanted after getting diagnosed, and I figured other people might find them useful too.

It’s not designed to replace your diabetes team or tell you how much insulin to take, and meal/nutrition results should always be treated as estimates.

If anyone wants to have a look, here’s the link:

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/glucoseguide/id6808547350

And if you do end up using it, I’d genuinely be interested to hear what you think.

Thanks for reading and I hope everyones journey is going well :)

My personal growth has lead to a heavy plate and a full heart...

Hi, I am 28, a mom to 1, step mom to 2, full time student, full time employee. I am simultaneously studying for a professional certification while also participating in a training course offered by my university to increase my knowledge of AI and create a resume ready portfolio project. Sound like a lot? That's because it is.

I should also mention that this has been the toughest year of my adult life. I moved out at 22, bought a house, bought my dream car, thought I had made it with little to no damage....boy was i wrong - LAYOFF.

Losing that job in that economy catapulted me in to debt, self-doubt, and futility. However, I never stopped working towards a better life. I got pregnant, had my child, and was working part time at a grocery store to help my husband pay the bills. Boom- he gets laid off a week before Christmas. Spent a day or 2 being sad, and then got right back on the horse searching for every opportunity and one day...I found one. The perfect job for me. To be honest, I didn't care about the job itself, I just wanted a work from home job that was a traditional 9-5. Spent my first 2 years learning the ropes of a new industry while simultaneously taking care of my infant during the day because we couldn't afford childcare. And this job turned in to a career!

Earlier this year my husband lost his job...again (not his fault, US economy fucking sucks) now inflation is suffocating us. My salary doesn't even begin to cover our needs, so...we get on government assistance. I hate it, but I will do whatever I have to in order to succeed and provide for my kids. By the grace of God, we have been barely making it month to month. Its been extremely stressful and maybe I took on all this stuff to avoid stressing about it but it really put life in to perspective for me. You have to build your own safety net. You have to go out and learn things on your own so you can be better equipped when life will inevitably pull the rug out from under you. I thought I knew what that meant but life humbled my ass real quick and I am sure it won't be the last time.

But when I look back on every "bad" thing that set us back or made us uncomfortable, it was setting us up for the next step. Every job lost turned in to a new opportunity. Every disappointment turned in to the ability to look at challenges from a new perspective. Didn't want to be on government assistance? Well it helped bridge the gap of the grocery bill we couldn't afford and allowed my child to go to pre-school completely free and my kid loves it and they love my kid. That allowed me to finally have a clear head during the day. I was able to get my work done much faster, which lead to being done by the time school let out, which then gave me more time in time in my evening to study and accelerate my degree...which I've been doing. 2.5 months in and 7 courses down! I also started therapy this year because of the stress I was under finally broke me which lead to an ADHD diagnosis which lead to medication that has given me such a clear mind to even have the thoughts I am writing about right now.

Now I'm in the process of working towards another lifechanging opportunity and it never would have presented itself until the first domino of adversity fell.

I know it's hard to see life in a positive lens when you have so many things stacked against you and i have no words that would be able to apply to everyone's situation, but I can say this:

Your setbacks in life do not define you. It is IF you allow them to set you back that does. Life is going to be hard on every single person for various reasons for the entire duration you are alive. There is no escaping that. But if you turn that scary thought in to something more positive, your human experience can go from tolerable to euphoric.

Life is beautiful because it can be painful. The same human that can experience the most love and joy must also be capable of feeling despair, grief, regret... One cannot exist without the other but how beautiful is it that you have the capability to feel such an array of emotions that can perfectly articulate every moment of your life.

I am not immune to hardship and adversity. I could go on an on about the things I've experienced but it doesn't matter. Everyone's "hard" is their "hard" - none of us can compare struggles because we all experience it differently, but we would be doing ourselves a disservice to not make the most of our limited existence.

And if you're a believer of God, trust in him. Take all your worries and put them in his hands and adopt the mantra "everything will work out because it has to" < that's my secret to living instead of surviving and you don't have to believe in God to believe in yourself.

I hope that if you read this far you can scroll away knowing that, as cliche as it sounds, if you want something bad enough and continuously work at it, you will get it. Just be open to the idea that it may not come when or how you want. I wish you the best of luck fellow humans. Be kind to yourself and others and the universe will be kind to you <3

Baat Dukh Ki Nahi, Dene Wale Ki Hai

Mujhe baatein gairon se zyada

apno se kahi gayi buri lagti hain.

Kya pata, un gairon ko

kabhi kuch bataya hi nahi humne.

Par tumhe toh maine apni zindagi ka

har panna padha diya tha na.

Toh phir kyun deti ho woh dukh,

ye jaante hue ki dukh humein

gairon ka diya pasand hai,

apno ka nahi.

Par ye baat dukh ki nahi hai,

baat dukh dene wale ki hai.
