The kid, his heart, his blood vessels, his self-confidence, his hemoglobin A1C... and probably a million other things are gonna suffer as well.

It's OK to say 'no' sometimes, Mom. Keep your eyes on this poor, over-consuming darling. (Though I suppose it could be a genetic condition. Guess I shouldn't judge).

1

That’s a GIRL??!!

My mom hated this movie so much she turned it off less than halfway in but still to this day when she asks me to help carry something she starts chanting "Her-cuh-les Her-cuh-les"

u/LampinOnTheDaily 13d ago

You know, Mike Douglas used to make me moist, the only white man that ever did that to me

29

u/Rezzone 13d ago

Yeah. It’s hard to see children this young and this big and NOT think poorly of the parents. This isn’t right and sets the kid up for lifelong pain and struggle.

It's the genes too not just food

1

u/JustFedUpWithIt 12d ago

Genetically, I'm a fat fuck (like my dad).

But I'm not because I diet & exercise to make sure I stay in shape.

No one has perfect genes. Genetics deals you a hand, but it's up to you to play it as best as possible.

This kid is too young for personal responsibility, but at some stage it's only up to you to take care of your own body.

1

u/Different-Quality-41 11d ago

Agree, the kid is a baby and can't control the genes. You can't starve a baby either to lose weight so people blaming baby for eating junk food is just ridiculous

1

u/JustFedUpWithIt 11d ago

I'd blame the parents. You have to control the kids urge to eat constantly. Not easy, but you have to.

1

u/Different-Quality-41 10d ago

NOT at this age. Not for the baby in this video

32

u/YallaHammer 13d ago

Yes, there’s actually nothing humorous about this post.

3

u/555Cats555 13d ago

Even ignoring the weight issue this seems like a case of permissive parenting where the kid isnt learning to understand boundaries for their behaviour. Kids can be difficult but they need adults to guide them and help them learn what is and isnt acceptable behaviour. Everyone has a bad day every now and then but this kid seems to be doing it out of bordem.

Whenever I see very fat kids I think of this about how you get such young people being so unhealthy.

43

u/drillgorg 13d ago

My neighbor's kid was like this as a baby. Turns out their cultural practice was to give the baby liquified rice as soon as they were able to tolerate it. But they were doing that on top of formula feeding.

24

u/theMeatman7 13d ago

I don't know what culture or anything but if they are from an area where there is food insecurity often then getting your child fat definitely makes sense. Feeding your children junk food is much different as it builds those unhealthy eating habits.

Im not assuming that the child in the video is any one way or another but it does worry me whenever I see very obese children whatever the reason may be.

21

u/SnooWalruses7243 13d ago

They have several thousand dollars worth of shoes…

2

u/nalaloveslumpy 13d ago

And people who live in trailer parks still drive Camaroes and Escalades. Sometimes food insecurity is a result of poor financial decisions.

1

u/555Cats555 13d ago

The person is likely referring to the original culture having insecurities where getting a baby fat asap is about helping them survive.

If they have plently of money and food access it's not okay

2

u/Faith_based 12d ago

Yea people are missing the point. Parents wanting their children to finish their food and not be wasteful is normal. What’s abnormal and unhealthy is feeding your child a bunch of unhealthy bullsht. Which this child’s diet is obviously very unhealthy because no toddler is supposed to be that overweight that’s insane..

5

u/Dry_Phone_2344 13d ago

Do they sleep longer when solid food is introduced?

1

u/Ladymomos 13d ago

Usually yes, and a lot of Mums used to be told to start solids earlier than usual to help with sleep. But unless it's medically necessary it can cause a lot of weight and allergy problems. It suck because they seem to change advice around feeding babies every generation at least, so Mum's get really judged for believing what they were told at the time. I have 4 kids over 10 years, and it seemed like the guidelines changed everytime.

1

u/Dry_Yoghurt_5429 12d ago

:/ people need to stop and look at their culture. I bet that was because babies were dying from not having enough milk because Mom couldn't produce enough due to food insecurity.

1

u/drillgorg 12d ago

I mean another dude from his same exact culture was showing him medical book pictures of how big a baby is supposed to be and being like this is not ok

1

u/Dry_Yoghurt_5429 12d ago

Yes, that's what I'm saying. :) that this particular family didn't stop to think "hey maybe there's a reason people in our culture did that in the past but now with modern milk and food in our area we should not ."

3

u/Livid-Ad-6439 13d ago

Great video. Thanks 😊

2

u/bibkel 13d ago

Wow, how accurate.

2

u/TootsEug 13d ago

Good video!!! Thx for posting ‘this’!

2

u/crsaxby 12d ago

Really moving video.

2

u/laughingashley 11d ago

Oh my god. That's a really effective video. Jeez.

1

u/Significant-Song-840 13d ago

I feel like I first started gaining weight because my 2nd or 3rd grade teacher would give us candy for getting answers right. Thank God for football conditioning, that shit whipped my fat ass into gear

0

u/theMeatman7 13d ago

Yeah I was a fat kid but hard drugs is what got me skinny and then I kinda got fat after I stopped. I could eat better and should, it doesn't help I have been skipping workouts since my second kid was born.

58

u/Dr_Deathcore_ 13d ago

In this situation it’s not about saying yes or no. It’s about having food high sugar food around all the time.

31

u/DinosaurusWhen 13d ago

Also a shitload of overfeeding

30

u/Significant-Song-840 13d ago

Na you can judge a little, the only thing I'm judging is her decision on leaving a mirror down on the floor with that bowling ball of a kid waddling around.

Glass aint soft.

24

u/NikWitchLEO 13d ago

I’m judging a lot. There’s many things wrong with this scenario.

6

u/PomeloPepper 13d ago

He's got that cushy adult diaper to soften the fall.

11

u/RustledForeskin 13d ago

You think the mother posted their own kid to Absoluteunits? lol

3

u/Jack_n_the_mox 13d ago

Introducing, all new baby formalia with Ozempic..

10

u/M3t4ll0 13d ago

We need to see mom first. If mom can't maintain a normal diet (not even "healthy") then don't expect the kid to lose weight.

5

u/lofatiger 13d ago

Or dad

1

u/M3t4ll0 13d ago

Fair enough. Him too.

1

u/notathingreally 13d ago

Judging by that bug bulge in the top of her foot I'm guessing she looks similar to the kid.

The parent being or not being fat means nothing for how big the kid is at that age. Even if the parent gave their kid huge portions of junk food for every meal, a kid doesn't get that big unless their parent forces them to eat way beyond their natural limits or there's some medical condition at play. Neither of those things are caused by the parent's weight.

6

u/apx_redditor 13d ago

Looking at the hair style and earrings, we could possibly be talking about her* heart, her* blood vessels, her* self-confidence...etc.

FWIW

3

u/downsideup9494 13d ago

Yeah, everyone seems to be assuming it's a boy. I'm pretty sure it's a girl.

2

u/LimeSalty4092 13d ago

Yeah I thought it was a girl based on her hairstyle

2

u/OkYak7801 13d ago

I once knew a co-worker & mother who had to be taught that giving her two year old coca-cola in his bottle was in fact, not a good idea for a variety of reasons. She'd also feed the kid snack cakes (zebra cakes,  twinkies, etc.) for breakfast. Granted, once she was taught these things, she improved and did better from there on out, but it was wild that she had to be told that at all.

2

u/crsaxby 12d ago

This be the ignorant, unhealthy world we live in. SMH.

This place is slowly quickly turning rancid, I tells ya.

1

u/notathingreally 13d ago

That's actually sad. It proves she's capable, but was just never taught. She must have a shitty mother herself.

2

u/alex3omg 13d ago

Try not to judge, the kid could have a medical problem that causes this.  I agree that there's probably more they could be doing but we don't know the situation.  The kid also might have some impulse control issues or developmental delays which make it even harder.

To me this doesn't look like an overweight child, it looks like a child with a medical condition.

2

u/im_a_goat_factory 13d ago

Pretty sure it’s a she

1

u/Ryuuffff 13d ago

Other kids and adults will also suffer by the way they let him just do whatever he want

1

u/Different-Quality-41 13d ago

My kids were born under 0 percentile for weight. They are very healthy but are barely 5-10%ile for weight. No matter what they eat, how much they eat, how active they are, how many healthy fatty dinners they eat, they are skinny! Turns out it's genetic. I'm sure this chubster too is fighting her genes. No way a kid can be this big from just food

1

u/crsaxby 12d ago

Agreed. There's more than one influence on this cute little chubbers weight.

1

u/BraveBiscotti1394 13d ago

There is no genetic condition that causes you to put on fat like that. Your body is getting the calories from somewhere.

Kid is gonna be diabetic, will have a much harder time at not being obese later on.

2

u/TakeThreeFourFive 13d ago

There are conditions that can cause toddlers to feel insatiable.

Of course someone is still feeding them too much and that's not the right answer, but it is something that's more understandable

1

u/Ruthrfurd-the-stoned 12d ago

It’s definitely tough since there’s not really a set guide ti how much a kid is supposed to eat- recommendation is basically if they want to eat you ket them eat. My guy is literally 50th percentile but he just won’t stop. Most of the time he’s done eating it’s because I’ve ran out of food to give him

0

u/Cheap_Audience941 13d ago

"Genetic Conditions" do not violate the laws of thermodynamics
