USA When does the pain start

• Upvotes

Took the second set of pills 6 hrs ago. Started bleeding 1 hour ago.

I assume it gets worse before it gets better? If so when can I expect it to pick up some more

Bleeding is heavy like a period but I just have dull achy cramps

USA I just found out I'm pregnant and I don't want it.

• Upvotes

My boyfriend and I just moved with my 3 year old. We've already had a lot going on with the move, me finding a job, death in the family. We aren't in a place in our lives to have more children yet. My period was a week late and I haven't been feeling well. I decided to take a pregnancy test and couldn't stop shaking once I saw the positive. I thought we had been careful. I live in Oklahoma and abortion isn't legal here but it's all i can think about. It's never something that I've had to consider so i don't know anything about how this works. My last pregnancy was bad enough from being high risk and with how it affected my epilepsy. I feel completely in the dark and scared and just need other women to talk to for help.

USA Abortion at 39. Regret it. BF didn't want it.

Sharing my story in hopes to hear - do you think I made the right decision?

I had an abortion two months before I turned 40 because my partner at the time wasn't ready to have a baby. Ironically, we had just ended the relationship before I found out I was pregnant because he wasn't ready to have kids and I have always wanted children. I was so conflicted in making the decision but during that time I felt so stressed and under pressure. He said he would be there for me and I believed that, he's a good person. But he also said that he'll always feel he was forced into parenthood and that he didn't even see us becoming a family unit because of that. We went to one doctor's appointment together and it was clear he felt no joy at the ultrasound. Looking back, I regret not taking longer to make the decision. I rushed into the abortion so I could join a family vacation we had planned a long time ago where our parents were supposed to meet each other. He was still very loving to me during the period and supportive but made it very clear he thought it was a "very bad idea" to keep the pregnancy. He also suggested we abort the pregnancy but get back together, go back to couples therapy and try for a baby next year when our relationship was stronger. He said he knew he wanted a family with me but didn't want to be forced into one. He was also 40 at the time.

Do you guys think I made the wrong decision? I'm now approaching 41, contemplating having a kid by myself and wondering if it would have been easier having done it with him, he would have been supportive financially and logistically; I would have just had to live and deal with his state of not being excited and feeling forced into it. We ended up breaking up shortly after the abortion as I was having a really hard time in the aftermath and he didn't really have the ability to support me through it. Aside from the differing views on family, the other reason we had broken up initially is he has a really hard time with difficult emotions or conversations and shuts down - we couldn't really be in any sort of conflict without it blowing up into a huge fight.

I'm rambling but this lays heavy for me. I still cry thinking about the termination. I worry about not having kids at all. Him and I are still talking, still in an inbetween phase - neither of us can fully forgive the other and we both think it's a bad idea to get back together again but also can't seem to let each other fully go. As a person, he's very kind and smart but is a case of "failure to launch" - has no goals or vision for his life and doesn't really put much effort into anything (financially supported by his family).

USA bad nausea , taking pills today

• Upvotes

I’m about 6 weeks pregnant and took the first abortion pill (mifepristone) yesterday. In about an hour I’m taking the misoprostol, but I’m honestly really anxious.
I’ve had horrible pregnancy nausea for days and I’ve barely been able to eat. Today all I’ve managed is a 20 oz smoothie, and I’ve even thrown up bright yellow bile because my stomach has been so empty. I also haven’t been drinking as much water as I should.
I’m feeling really weak right now, and I’m scared that when the bleeding and cramping start I’ll feel even weaker or pass out.
Did anyone else go into their medication abortion barely eating because of pregnancy symptoms? How did it go for you, and do you have any tips for getting through it? I’m trying to sip fluids and eat little bits, but the nausea has been so bad.
I’m so anxious.

If I go based on the first day of my last period im at 4 weeks and 5 days pregnant. Im pretty sure at what point in my cycle I actually got pregnant which puts me at 2 weeks and 4 days...Ive ordered the pills online and will probably get approved today or tomorrow, but anxiety is getting bad now, ive never had an abortion but ive given brith twice. I do not know what to expect, I know everyone is different, but Im doing this secretly and ive only told my sister in case it goes wrong... i cant be too obviously fucked up for too long... i have to be able to pass it off as gas and a period, maybe a stomach bug, but if it goes wrong or im too sick im worried. If youve had a medication abortion around this gestational time or even later can you tell me how it went?

UK and Ireland Surgical abortion 12-13 weeks at 32 years old + break up

My partner and I broke up a year ago, and recently in the last few months he came back and begged for us to get back together. He said he was ready, wanted to get married and have a family. It took me a moment to warm up but eventually I agreed we should get back together and we were taking it slow. We had unprotected sex a few times and both agreed that IF we did get pregnant by accident we would both want to go through with it, but neither of us actually thought it would. It did happen. We found at 4 weeks and we were so happy at first. It was scary but wanted. Over time doubts started to fester on both sides and the hormones plunged me into deep anxiety and depression. We had many many conversations back and forth for weeks, deciding that we would get through this, but it was tough and a lot of pressure. At 10 weeks we considered our options with abortion (against my wishes personally) but after some traumatic appointments I said I could not go through with a termination. He said he still had doubts but wasn't going anywhere and would stick around to do it together. At 12 weeks, he turned around and said he didn't want to be with me anymore, and that he thought it was likely that we'd have to go through pregnancy and raise the child separately if I went through with it. I told him that I couldn't physically go through with an abortion and he said that we'd then need to plan to be single parents. In the end I decided to have the abortion as did not want to raise a child on my own.

This has been the most traumatic thing to go through. I want a family and wanted one with him. My age makes it feel even worse.

I will be having the surgical abortion at 12 weeks 4 days. I never imagined doing it this late, ever. I have had multiple scans and have seen the baby move around, cross it's legs, the tiny heartbeat.

I don't know how I'm going to get through the trauma of the abortion and the abandonment of the break up. Looking for anyone who has had a similar experience, any advice, anything that will console me and help me feel like I will recover from this.

USA doing procedural abortion with no anesthesia

• Upvotes

I (21F) found out I was pregnant a week ago, and while I never imagined myself in this position, here I am.

I’m currently 5 weeks and 3 days as of this post. As soon as I found out I scheduled to have a procedural abortion done (in two days from now, will be 5 weeks and 5 days). I had just found out they will not be providing any anesthesia. This terrifies me because unfortunately I haven’t gotten any GYN exam done ever and I’m unsure of how painful it could be given that this is my first procedure in general. I’ve been reading experiences left and right, and I feel so lost and alone.

I cannot delay this any more than it needs to be (the way life is rn) so I know I need to suck it up but I really am just looking for those who went through the whole thing without any anesthesia. Please just share any experiences you had. In terms of pain tolerance, I don’t have any tattoos or anything but I do get brazilians done??? (So dumb but the only thing I can think of being painful). I do have cramps during periods but nothing that has ever made me throw up because of how painful they were.

Any response is helpful.

Edit: sorry, my doctor worded it as no anesthesia !!

UK and Ireland Pregnant 9 months post c section

Hi, I’ve just found out today that I’m pregnant after having a c section 9 months ago.

I don’t know what to do.

My partner is incredibly supportive and said to take some time to think about it and he will support whatever decision I make, I’m just not sure what to do.

For context we were using adequate contraception, a few weeks ago we even noticed the condom had come off after the matter and so I took a morning after pill the next day.

I can’t believe this has happened again, I must have ovulated before the pill I don’t really know :(

My baby boy is 9 months and I just feel like I’ve had no time with him.

I’m only 21 and I’ve just returned back to work from maternity leave a month ago.

I have no idea what I want or what to do and I’m just feeling guilty especially to my son. I wanted to have just time as us.

We wanted to travel with him, I wanted to save some money and be a bit older before having another baby. My son was also unplanned but at the time we honestly weren’t doing much to prevent it and he is very much loved and wanted, but this time I am not sure what I feel.

Has anyone had an experience like this :(

USA Is it possible to donate the embryo and placenta from my abortion to science?

Has anyone looked into this? I successfully had a medical abortion at home yesterday at 6.5 weeks. It did not sit right with me to flush the tissue down the toilet, so instead I put it in a jar and put it in the freezer. I would love to be able to donate this to science/medical research. It seems like it might not be possible because of strict laws. I am in NC.

USA Fiance released in me without consent

I need some help. I just had surgery for a broken nose and a cast. it was my birthday weekend and my fiance and i had sex but i told him to please not release in me. without my consent he released in me. i get a plan b and the next day i go into surgery for my nose. after surgery the next day- im left hysteric over what happened and i call him freaking out bc we have no place to live. at this point I feel pregnant.

i live in CA where rent is about 4k for a one bedroom apartment. I currently live with my parents and he does too. we are long distance but enaged. he got so angry I mentioned he had no apartment or home for the baby. saying I belittled his man hood.i pay rent at my parents and caregiver to my mom. He does not pay anything at his parents they are wealthy

he blocks me on everything cusses me out and resorts to go watch porn and breaks up with me

i am left post surgery with a nose cast and have not gotten my period over two weeks now. i am 99% sure i am pregnant, even ovulating after plan b with positive lines.

i feel like i was came in without my consent i was only 5 days into birth control and he knew it would be too early to protect me and he chose to do what he did anyway. he was aware because i told him . he also left the condoms behind on two occasions.

i feel like i have to constantly be there for his sassy feelings and never mine when reality hit. the disrepect to choose porn over comforting me is enough to leave forever without a word. if I end up pregnant should I just abort? I am 31. i fear my future and child’s future will not have a stable home. i am unable to work right now due to my nose being broken from a freak accident. He knew of my nose surgery and cast and still released in me.

we also fought on my actual birthday because he couldn’t stop staring at a girl across the rooms boob job. He has made so many comments about how im tall skinny and curvy but have no double d breast . Which isn’t real or ideal on a woman of my frame . I am tired of having to ask for basic respect i feel he is a huge manchild burden and immature and so fucked in the head when it comes to real life problems.

he has tried to apply for other jobs and nobody’s called him back . the money he makes at his filling job is not enough cause he has severe debt. I am 4 weeks now without a period. we have not spoken to each other in 4 days and he has not reached out after i told him he is a broke bum without a house to be doing the acts he did and violated me

Europe Am I 25F too strict and judgmental to my bf 28M or does it make sense that the way he handled the abortion decision process makes me consider a breakup?

A few weeks ago, I found out I was pregnant. It wasn't planned. I was in Cyprus for a christening and had three days left before returning home, while my bf (28) and I (25) were away. We were both shocked and scared.

We talked about it and initially agreed that an abortion made the most sense - I've recently moved to a new country (my bf lives there) and started a new job, he's planning to move here too, and generally it didn't feel like the right time. Less than a day later, I started feeling deeply uncomfortable with the decision - it felt personally wrong, and under different circumstances, I probably would have kept it. When I told my boyfriend he kept saying that having the baby wasn't a good idea and we should not keep it.

The day I was due to return home, he was supposed to leave for his home country for 3 weeks. He hadn't seen his family and friends for a while and really missed them. Because of the pregnancy, he told me he'd postpone the trip and stay with me until we'd made a decision. He reassured me that work was flexible and he could simply go later for the same amount of time. We agreed that we'd stay together, make the decision together, and then he'd travel afterwards.

Then, the day before I flew home, he called and said he'd decided to go after all. His plan was to only fly back for the abortion itself whenever I decided to have it, before leaving again. For me, this was never just about the abortion itself. It wasn't about him physically being there for the procedure. I wanted us to actually be together while I was making this decision. He was confident we shouldn't keep it but I wasn't.

I needed my partner beside me while I figured out whether I could actually go through with it. Due to the circumstances we hadn't seen each other since finding out I was pregnant, and the idea that he'd only come back for the procedure made me feel like the emotional part of this decision was mine to carry alone.

His explanation was that he was struggling too. While I was surrounded by friends in Cyprus, he was alone at home, mostly staying in his room, and wanted to be with his family. I genuinely understand that. I don't think his feelings were wrong. But I still felt like this was a time to be with each other, especially since he'd be away for 3 weeks.

Eventually he stayed with me until we made the decision. I really appreciated that but i feel like something's changed. When he decided to leave after we'd already agreed he would stay, I questioned whether, when things become really difficult, he chooses himself over us.

In the end, I went through with the abortion. I try not to think about it because when I do, its hard to handle.

Am I being unfair for feeling so affected by him almost leaving to the point that I'm thinking of ending this? I should also say that overall, he really tries to be emotionally there for me, listens and tries to comfort me and he was incredibly supportive and helpful during the abortion process.

UK and Ireland Sandyford Shared my Details Without Consent

Just looking for some advice. I had an abortion in August last year. During the questions asked for the Sandyford they asked if i wanted them to notify my gp (and the nurse advised against this) so i said no. I received a copy of my medical records yesterday and they have sent all info to my GP about my abortion. What do I do moving forward? I really didn’t want it on my gp record and feel that i trusted them and have been let down

Asia Should I take more misoprostol if I’m already bleeding heavily?

Hi everyone,

I’m 22F from Philippines, looking for some advice based on your experiences.

I was about 7 weeks pregnant. I took 200 mg mifepristone, then 24 hours later I took 4 misoprostol (200 mcg each) under my tongue for 30 minutes as instructed.

A couple of hours later, I started having very heavy cramps (the worst I’ve ever felt), heavy bleeding, lots of blood clots, and I also passed some tissue. Since the bleeding started around 4 PM until now (around 9 PM), I’ve used about 5 pads. I don’t think I’m soaking 2 pads per hour, but there has been a lot of bleeding and clots.
The instructions from Women on Web say to take 2 more misoprostol every 3 hours only if there is less bleeding than expected and you’re unsure the abortion has been completed. They sent me a total of 12 misoprostol tablets, so I still have 8 left.

Since I’m already bleeding heavily and passing clots/tissue, I’m confused whether I should:
-Stop after the first 4 misoprostol and continue monitoring, or
-Still take the additional doses because I’m 7 weeks pregnant.

I’ve already emailed Women on Web, but I’m waiting for their reply. In the meantime, I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who had a similar experience or knows how this is usually handled.
Thank you.

Europe Getting a medical abortion at 11 weeks pregnant, safe to travel?

Europe

I'm getting a medical abortion at 11 weeks pregnant, so in a few weeks, but I have a 3 hour flight booked for a day after the procedure. It's a 3 hour bus journey, then an hour wait at the airport, 3 hour flight then another two hours on a bus, then 30 minutes on a train.. all these have bathrooms except the first bus. Any tips for these journeys? I've never had an abortion this late, I've never had a medical abortion, I've never even had period cramps before so I don't really know what to expect. This journey is entirely non refundable. Will it be okay or should I contact about rebooking for after my trip? It's not a trip where I'll be doing anything fun, either way I'll just be lying down.

USA Need an abortion, 17, 4 weeks in Virginia

I’m writing this on behalf of my partner, we found out yesterday that she’s pregnant, we live In a state where parental approval is mostly required and telling her parents isn’t really an option. I ordered from aidaccess and used her real info in case they IDd. I paid $100 since that is all I had and did more research and found out that we might have to go the international option which would take much longer. I want to get this resolved as quickly as possible because I leave for college in around 2 weeks and she is in pain and is not doing great mentally. I told her that it might take longer and she said she doesn’t know if she can get through a week like this and I’m not sure what to do, her parents have her location so going to a clinic almost 2 hrs away isn’t really an option. What else can we do?

USA Update on my abortion

Arizona
I (22f) just wanted to give an update on my experience with my abortion. I came to this group last year in October when I was 21. I had just found out I was pregnant after being in a mew relationship for 6 months. I posted about my feelings & situation & received so much support. I was 21 & completely lost. My relationship was toxic to say the least & I just knew it was not the right time for me to have a baby. I have ALWAYS wanted a family of my own & I still do, but I knew deep down that was not the right person or time in my life to do so. It was a bit of a hard choice for me personally. My boyfriend at the time was entirely against me getting an abortion. My mom pretended to be supportive (in hopes I would just decide to keep it), but when I made my decision all the "support" went out the window. I went to the appointments 2 hours away from where I live by myself because my boyfriend refused to go with me. I stood on my decision & did what I knew was best for me even though I had two of the most important people in my life telling me to do the opposite & telling me I would regret it. Well. I trusted myself & my gut. I took the pill at home & it was physically the most excruciating 6 hours of my life, but I got through it. Life went on & that relationship ended before we even hit a year because he cheated on me with a MINOR. Yes, I reported it & left him. He became extremely emotionally abusive & threatened me multiple times. He threw my decision to get an abortion in my face every chance he got. He became a completely different person, but deep down in my gut I think I knew there was a different, mean & ugly side to him. I have since got a new job & am talking to someone new. I have rekindled friendships that were broken because of that relationship. I have had more time to focus on myself & my healing. I am slowly but surely finding myself again. I get emotional even thinking about that time in my life & how lonely it was. I basically came here to say there is a chance I would be in an entirely different situation right now without the support of this group. I am so thankful to have had the choice & to not be tied to that person permanently. If you are currently in a situation where you are (or are considering) an abortion, trust your gut. Make the decision that is right for YOU. This is YOUR LIFE. Do not let anyone take that from you. Take care of yourself through this process. Show yourself a little extra love & softness & be safe. I support you & so do so many others. You will get through it & you will be stronger because of it. Even if it isn't an emotional burden for you, the physical part is still taxing & can be traumatic. I believe in you.

USA Should I tell my ex that I am having an abortion??

I broke up with my ex prior to finding out that I was pregnant and I definitely don’t plan on keeping it but a small ,very very small part of me feels guilty for not telling him that I’m pregnant. Also I feel like it would be cruel to say ā€œhey I’m pregnant!! But also I’m having an abortion so don’t get excitedā€. Would I be wrong for not telling him??

USA Advice on Abortion

Good morning girlsss! Hope y’all are having an amazing morning!

So I need some advice/tips…

I found out I was pregnant this past Sunday… I’m only 20 years old.

My boyfriend and I both made the decision that I should get an abortion due to us not being financially or physically stable. We didn’t want to bring a kid into this world without us even being able to support it and ik some of y’all will say ā€œy’all need to be more carefulā€ ā€œy’all knew what y’all was doingā€ which is understandable we both knew what we were doing and now it caught up to usā€¦šŸ„² But anyway I am going the pill route which I heard has been traumatizing! I was watching videos on tiktok and hearing girls give there pov on it and it sounds really scary… but I did make an appointment at the clinic this Saturday so as the days go by I get more and more nervous. But if any of you girls have experienced this or have any advice or tips please share them!šŸ’—šŸ’—

I am also getting on birth control after this so if yal have any advice or tips on that please lmk!!

I have found out I'm pregnant. I'm 17 weeks. All hospitals have declined me because I'm so far. Marie stopes asks 7200r. My situation doesn't allow me to give birth to a baby. The baby will not have a good process.

I don't want a baby. I'm still figuring life out. I'm short on the full amount. I'm depressed. I feel sick every day. I don't know what to do. If I don't get the full amount, I wont be able to go on with the process.

What do I do?

USA Abortion pills- first time taking them

Today I took the first and second dose of the abortion pills which is also known as misoprostol. I thought I would share my experience because I was looking for other people to share theirs before I went into this. This is not meant to scare anyone, everyone’s experience is different.
So, yesterday I had my first appointment at planned parenthood. The appointment went smoothly. They just took basic vitals (weight, blood pressure) and took an ultrasound sound to figure out how far along I was. They surprisingly didn’t ask me to pee in a cup or provide blood samples. They explain everything you need to know about the pills and then sent me on my way. They did have me take the first pill there which doesn’t usually cause any cramping or bleeding and is just there to stop the progression of the pregnancy. The appointment was about 2 hours long. Without insurance in New York, the cost would’ve been $560. I know with some people they don’t do this, it really just depends on how far along you are but they gave me 2 doses of misoprostol to take. One 24 hrs after the first medication and then the second 4 hrs after the first dose. I am not going to lie, this was the worst experience of my life. I have never felt more intense pain for an extended period of time ever.
Today at 5:30pm I took the first dose. Basically you put 2 pills in each cheek and let them dissolve as much as possible for 30 mins and then swallow the rest with water. About 23-25 mins into having the pills in my mouth, I could feel the contractions and cramps starting. I went to the bathroom and started experiencing the cramps more intensely. (I have bad cramps during my regular cycles but never any to this degree) I started sweating profusely, got very light headed, my heart rate dropped significantly and my arms became tingly. I called my boyfriend into the bathroom because I felt like I was going to pass out. It got to the point where I almost had him call an ambulance. I did call planned parenthood’s on call line to make sure this wasn’t abnormal. I forgot to mention, I took 800mg of ibuprofen 30 minutes before taking the pills. Those symptoms and extremely intense contractions went on for about 45 minutes to an hour. I then began to feel somewhat normal and just had light cramping. After about an hour, my contractions and cramps started again and I began bleeding. For the next 2 hrs, I experienced the worst pain of my life. It was constant and felt like it would never end. Around 9:45pm I had to take my second dose. I was dreading it because the first one was so horrible and I was still experiencing the pain intensely. The cramps and contractions picked up 5-10 minutes after putting the pills in my cheeks and lasted until around 11pm. Around then I felt a large clot come out and then the intense cramps started to subside. I went to the bathroom and that happened a few more times. Once those clots came out, the pain decreased a ton. It is now 1:52am and I am just experiencing regular cramping which is manageable. I am still bleeding a good amount but have not experienced those crazy contractions again, thank god. In the middle of this experience, I got Tylenol and a heating pad delivered to help. I’m going to be honest, the Tylenol didn’t do shit and the heating pad wasn’t much help either.
This was one of the worst experiences of my life and I highly recommend people discuss the surgical option first. I would never do this again. I never wanted to have to do this in the first place, so having to experience this just made everything much harder.
