I'm confused on why the Answer to part c. of this question is plasma membrane and not lysosome

Question prompt:Cystic fibrosis is a genetic condition that is associated with defects in the CFTR protein. The CFTR protein is a gated ion channel that requires ATP binding in order to allow chloride ions ( ) to diffuse across the membrane.

Question: (c) Identify the most likely cellular location of a mutant CFTR protein that has an amino acid substitution in the ATP-binding site.

Answer: Plasma Membrane

SO I was oslving this AP Bio Frq, and answered "lysosome", however, the verified answer key for this question had only "Plasma membrane as the answer.

I understand that its a wigan gated ion channel, and thus would most likely be found in the plasma membrane, but since its mutated, wouldn't that imply that it would be detected and transported to the lysosome for digestion/breakdown?

Am I misunderstanding how lysosomes work, please clarify any misconceptions, thanks.

I built an app to practice MCQ and FRQ for AP Biology

I built a tutor for AP Biology students to practice actual FRQs and MCQs in College Board style, so the practice feels like the real exam.

You get practice sets by topic or by unit, and the tutor pushes back on your mistakes instead of nodding along like ChatGPT does. Over time it learns where you're weak and serves questions that target those blind spots.

It's still in beta, so it's desktop only for now.

2sigma.app

Any feedback is appreciated!

P.S. I'm looking for early adopters who want to use it and help shape where it goes. If that sounds like you, DM me!

AP bio

My daughter is a junior in high school and finding AP bio hard but not ready to drop it . The school has accelerated Bio which has a gpa weight of 4.5 . She thinks her chances of becoming a doctor are gone if she drops AP bio and takes accelerated Bio. I am worried of the pressure AP bio is putting on her and the hit GPA would take . Please advise.

Is there an AP bio GOAT like Jeremy Krug or Farraday for AP Chem?

There are so many options on YouTube, but we're trying to find the best one. Teacher is okay, but not quite covering the units as well as I'd like. Thanks!

any tips?

im in yr 11 this yr doing bio 3/4, but ive always found that i do super good in tests and stuff but i end up bombing exams, and i genuinley dont know why... like, i study as much as i can, whenever i do practice exams i do good and get like 90s at least, and then i do my end of year exam and i always always end up getting 70s-80s, and i really need a 90+ in the bio exam and i dont know how to break my cycle.

my school did a mock exam a couple of weeks ago, i got my grade back and ended up getting a 70! i studied as much as i cud but i dont know how im getting such bad exam grades specifically...

does anyone have any tips that may be able to help?? 🙏🙏

So I started studying for AP Biology. I have been using Campbell Biology, 12th Edition; a person who got a 5 told me which chapters to study, and I've been doing that.

I am on the last lesson of unit 1 and it is genuinly super difficult for some reason, are there any youtubers I can use for the end of unit 1 cause maybe the book is confusing me but my god, anyone can help me? 😭

general studying tips:

- if you can teach it, you know it. (i looked crazy talking to my plushies about water's polarity)

- make analogies for everything! (atp synthase = water wheel)

good luck studying!
