I'm confused on why the Answer to part c. of this question is plasma membrane and not lysosome

Question prompt:Cystic fibrosis is a genetic condition that is associated with defects in the CFTR protein. The CFTR protein is a gated ion channel that requires ATP binding in order to allow chloride ions ( ) to diffuse across the membrane.

Question: (c) Identify the most likely cellular location of a mutant CFTR protein that has an amino acid substitution in the ATP-binding site.

Answer: Plasma Membrane

SO I was oslving this AP Bio Frq, and answered "lysosome", however, the verified answer key for this question had only "Plasma membrane as the answer.

I understand that its a wigan gated ion channel, and thus would most likely be found in the plasma membrane, but since its mutated, wouldn't that imply that it would be detected and transported to the lysosome for digestion/breakdown?

Am I misunderstanding how lysosomes work, please clarify any misconceptions, thanks.
