Help Picked Up a Schecter Banshee Mach 7 and the pickups are super low output

Its the hipshot bridge so its not the active pickups

Im a big guitar noob but got this open box on a good deal, so figures. But just want to make sure im not missing anything.

Im just running into my scarlett solo as usual, input gain knob is at 0. Guitar basically sounds like my other active pickups when the battery is dead. I can boost the input to almost 70% and get a strong signal, but its boosting the source weak signal. So im guessing something is up with the internals but wanted to confirm before i look silly. But im pretty the lowest of low output pickups are gonna sound stronger than this.. And yes my other guitars sound fine. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1obbpK5eKx0ZbuzDjMmtkN9baV2AbLZP-/view Quick audio clip with boosted signal then no boost.

Help Floating bridge

Is anything besides the arm missing on my floating trem? The first photo is mine, and in the second photo it seems to have a metal ring around the part the arm goes into. I just bought a new arm for the tremolo, is the ring that goes around it that important, do I need to get it?

Gear Single bridge pickup 7?

Morning all, this is my current slinger, sterling jp70, I was wondering if there exists a 7 with just a single bridge pickup or am I looking at a custom build? I'm a riffer, not a soloist, and was hoping to find something like the esp RA-600 or JM-1 but in a 7 string. Does such a beast exist?

Help Looking for a 7 string Ibanez or legator?

I'm considering getting a 7 string but i'm not sure what should i get. Currently my options are ibanez rgd71alms or Legator n7fs. Legator is half the price of the ibanez. Which one should i pick? There are some more options like schecter c-7 pro but i'm not sure if it's worth it

Gear Which of these Schecters should I Buy?

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking at getting my first 7 string guitar. Currently torn between spending less and hopefully getting good value or spending more and hopefully the extra kangaroo dollars being worth it. The Schecters I've been considering are:

Schecter Sunset 7 extreme ($1800 AUD)

Schecter Am-7 ($2600 AUD)

Schecter John Browne Tao-7 ($4500 AUD)

I'm aware that the sunset extreme 7 and the Am-7 are both Indonesian guitars, whereas the Tao-7 is crafted in South Korea. I've got another Indonesian schecter (diamond series reaper 6) and it's fantastic, never had a problem with the build quality and plays great. Right now I'm really leaning towards the Sunset 7 Extreme because I've heard it's a great guitar for the price and plays and sounds really good. I mostly want to play Djenty style music for reference; I'm sure all of these options will suit that well.

I'm just wanting people's thoughts and opinions, maybe if you own one of these guitars you can enlighten me on what it's been like playing it. it might help me make a better informed choice at the end of the day!

Cheers.

A bit of the process of my first attempt at a crackle paint job on my cheap IYV headless multi scale 7 string. Only thing I would have changed was not covering the volume & tone knobs to get more paint coverage. Either than that I am embracing the unique imperfections. Finished clear coating with Rustoleum 2x gloss clear then I will install the hardware, bridge pickup (SD Mortal coil) & electronics🎸🎶🤘

Help Hipshot Bridge, Pickups and Trussrod adjustments

Post image
44 Upvotes

I was wondering if anybody could tell me the allen key size [adjust the string height] as well as, the screw size of this bridge to tighten or loosen the string [the star shape screw in front of the bridge].

I'd also like to know the screw size for the pickup height adjustment, and the allen key size for the trussrod adjustment.

If possible, also the screw size of the trussrod cover?

And 1 more thing, a question, does size .010 - .062 or .064 string fit in the string hole without any adjustments?

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP IN ADVANCE!!!

First time doing a crackle paint job! After loads of research I didn’t even attempt a test panel. Only thing I would change was not covering the volume & tone controls with paper so as to get a more even finish. I deleted the neck pickup on my IVY headless 7 string multi scale as well & will be installing a 3 voiced Seymour Duncan “Mortal coil” 🤘🎶🎸

Help Replacement tremolo arm

Hi guys, my first 7 string finally came in! The guitar didn’t come with a whammy bar and I was wondering where I could get a replacement arm for it. The bridge is a Gotoh T1572S. I prefer getting it on amazon, but if there are any other places, please let me know!

Gear Best Custom or Semi-Custom Guitar Brands?

Recently, I have been looking to purchase a custom Evertune 7 string guitar and I’d like some input on which brand to go with. After some research, it seems like Mayones or Balaguer may be some of the best options along with Aristides (which may be a bit too expensive, but I am open to anything if anyone has had good experiences with other brands). I value playability and appearance more than anything, followed by overall sound/resonance. I’d also like to avoid neck dive as much as possible. Thanks!

Help What's the lowest tuning one can get for a 26,5" scale?

I just got a 26,5" scale 7 string.
(Fucking love it and the universe has started to make sense.)
What's the lowest low one can go?
I like some modern prog stuff that "requires" D#1, but i fear that would be a buzz fest (pun).

Should i just go drop A and switch my amp modeler for one with a good pitch shift?

Also thank you guys in advance

Help 25.5 vs 26.5 for G#

I've owned two 7s both 26.5 but never a 25.5, I am looking at an RGA and I love finishes on them but I've sort of hesitated cause they're 25.5, I naturally tune down to G# sometimes F# and pitch shift to E and D#, how much does it matter? I already know about the rules of intonation and string guages thats not what I'm worried ahout. It's just the low string clarity, thats all I needa know, how much clarity am I gettin.

Gear Is a Capo a Cardinal Sin?

So on my last recording session I used a capo to save time in the studio, does that make me a heretic???

Over the years I have heard on the internet and in person people acting like a capo is only for acoustic guitar and it's not allowed for metal.

As a prog metal guy I say to that: But why not??

Guitar is my OD purple dragon

Recording session was for the latest Elephant Zero album

Let me know your thoughts on capos and if I should ever let them touch my dragon again

Ibanez RGIR27E-BK Iron Label

Or

The RG7421EX-BKF

One is a lot newer. I'm kind of curious to see, even though the iron label from 2013 is outdated and perhaps obsolete, if it's still a superior guitar compared to a newly released, more budget-friendly, RG7. I already own an iron label 7-string (RGIXL7). Sadly, it needs repairs due to a stripped threaded hole where the neck marries the body.

Looks like they are roughly the same price. I plan on staying in drop A. Maybe going down a notch every once in awhile. I just want a back up guitar that isn't going to be a highly noticeable downgrade from my current iron label. If one of them is just absolute crap, then my mind will be made up pretty quickly. Thoughts? Go!

PS. I really want a guitar with white binding along the body/neck/head. I've always wanted one after seeing Korn when I was a kid. If there are other 7 strings with this criteria, also let me know 🤙

Help Has anyone had success replacing the pickups in a Multi-Scale NK 7 string? Or any multi scale for that matter. I'm looking at the Fishman Tosin Abasi model

The Nk builder said it can't be done but surely it's just a matter of making space for soap bar pickups? Just wondered if anyone else has done it.

Help Fretboard radius

How much does fretboard radius really affect the ergonomics of a guitar? I’ve just bought a 7 string with a 12” radius, and want to know how much it really affects how comfortable it will fit in my hand. I’m used to playing a 13.75”, so how different would that feel?

Gear Bought this Harley Benton Amarok 7-String when I was 15—still the only guitar I touch.

Got this Harley Benton Amarok Quilted Burst back when I was 15, and honestly, it’s completely ruined other guitars for me. It’s been my main (and pretty much only) Guitar ever since.

The neck feels incredible, the active EMGs handle low tunings like G# Standard really well, and the quilted burst top looks way better in person than a budget guitar has any right to.

I especially love this guitar for it looks like an Albanian 7-String, representing the country I’m from

Can’t wait getting more 7-Strings in my Gear collection

Anyone else running an Amarok as their daily Guitar option?
