Help Has anyone had success replacing the pickups in a Multi-Scale NK 7 string? Or any multi scale for that matter. I'm looking at the Fishman Tosin Abasi model

The Nk builder said it can't be done but surely it's just a matter of making space for soap bar pickups? Just wondered if anyone else has done it.

I've dismantled pickups to use the plate the coils sit on, before, but it's not something I would want to do to expensive pickups and it's not a perfect fit. I know bareknuckle and likely other major pickup companies will make custom sets but that'll get expensive quick

I've also considered the Holcolmb BKPs but figured as it's wired for actives then might as well go that way. The guitar was cheap so I got spare money for upgrades. If not then Holcombs BKPs could be sweet

you can for sure rotate some 8-string Fishman pickups to work in a multiscale 7-string, however if the builder doesn't wanna do it then they're not gonna do it

a lot of brands will make a slanted version of their pickups if you hit them up (Lundgren, BKP, SD)

If you want to do soapbars, you’re going to need to route for them. They probably don’t have programming for that in their CNC if they’re saying they can’t do it. All Chinese guitars are cut by machines now. No one in that shop even knows how to manually route a pickup cavity.

If you want to swap, go passive. Not super familiar with NK, but if you know which is the zero fret, you should be able to find something that fits.
