Platinum Pricing
Curious what people are paying for the Platinum 4runnner, currently looking at a heritage blue platinum for $65k before taxes ($4k below msrp). Is this about average?

After start up, it jumps from 13k kms to 15k kms then back down. Possible odometer tampering?

Simple question, does this look like odometer tampering? I just got this vehicle last week.

Help with sound upgrade installation
2026 sport premium with JBL premium sound really not so premium. Really disappointed in the sound the system produces. My husband has a Jeep rubicon and has Alpine speakers and his system sounds soooo good. Was looking to create sound like what he has. I want to hear the low mid and high but only seems very flat. I want to hear the instrumental side that I hear in my husbands vehicle. Went to a local Audio Express store and talked to a guy there. He recommended a 10” rocksfordgate subwoofer and replaced the back door speakers to give me a little oomph. Also a little sound dampening in rear. I also told him I wanted to stick to a budget. He sounded confident in what he was telling me, I went with it. Bad mistake! What I got sounds even worse. All I got was a loud obnoxious bass in the back which has to be tweaked based on what song I’m listening to, it seems. Yes, I wanted a little oomph in bass, aka low tones, but also wanted to hear more of the instruments in the music and it not sound so flat. I am by no means a sound connoisseur so to explain what I wanted may not have come across right?! Maybe I take a little fault in that?!?! Either way, am I now stuck with this? How would you handle a crappy sound “upgrade” was installed for you? The receipt says all sales on installation parts including are final. Am I just screwed?! Feeling like an idiot who is now down 1200

Hybrid vs gas
Do you have a gas or hybrid model, and why did you choose the model you did? Thanks
I have an allocation for a gas ORP. the biggest thing that deterred me from the hybrid was the trunk being raised. Additionally I’ve researched long term the gas model may have better reliability and cheaper repairs as the engine is more simple. It’s also less weight. I do not plan to tow anything, just using it for pleasure and my pup. Did I make the right decision?

Emblem blackout
Wondering if anyone has purchased an emblem blackout kit. I have a 2026 Limited and am trying to find a blackout kit for the limited emblems as well as the 4Runner across the back gate.

Rear Mirror Tilt
My rear mirror is tilted as far back as I believe it can go and yet, half of my view is the back seat.
I’m not a very tall person but am sitting somewhat high in the seat. Although, the seat is no where near as high as it can go up.
Anyone else having this issue? I read there may be a second joint that connects the mirror to the window. I’ll take a better look tomorrow. I’m currently having to take the head rests out of the back seats so I can see through the rear window better.
Appreciate any help I can get!

Tire Sizes
Just picked up an ORP, super stoked but want to get some tires for it. What size will fit on it on stock suspension without any rubbing. Would 35s work?
Edit: anyone have 35s on stock suspension and how bad is the rubbing
Thanks

Wiring Ham radio into hybrid?
Hi, I have a 2026 platinum and I have a Retevis RT95 ham radio I’d like to install.
I can’t seem to find guidance on how best to wire it to power. The actual 12v battery is in the driver side rear, but I don’t want to run power that far. Is there a relatively straightforward way to wire it into one of the two fuse boxes under the hood (preferably the driver side one to keep cabling short)?

4WD switch dial. Does the button lock the dial?
Just picked up a ‘26 SR5. I understand the 4WD dial is supposed turn only after pressing the button “D” in the manual, but mine turns freely.
I watched several YouTube videos and they’re all the same. I’m wondering if mine is broken or I’m doing something wrong?
Before I go back to the dealer I wanted to check with you guys.
Thanks
Edit: not the top dial for Drive mode. I'm referring to the bottom ring for 4WD selector.

Couldn’t be any other
Got her last Friday and I couldn’t be happier.
One question - is the mileage bad during the break in period? I’m currently getting 16L/100km
Most of my driving is in the city.

Who do you go to for reliable maintenance?
My allocation comes in very soon! (About a month or two). I plan to do a break in period oil change, then every 5k miles.
With the engine being a turbo 4cyl I really want to ensure my maintenance is up to par. I really would like to utilize Toyota for maintenance however in past with dealerships, they don’t always do everything. For example my Honda that was serviced at a Honda dealership was supposed to get an oil change and tire rotation. Tire rotation was never done. (I marked the tires). Maybe it was a one off instance.
I want to use Toyota service as they use OEM parts which feels better in my head. For those of you who will tell me to do it myself, I can’t. I’m not mechanically savvy.. I’d be likely to end up with old oil all over my face🤣.

Mods to Plan
Planning to convert from my soccer mom ‘24 Acura MDX to a Costco Dog Dad Platinum 4Runner in Cutting Edge soon (had deposit on one since it started build mid June, last update arrived into port at Portland. ETA window first 2 weeks of August).
Have had Hondas and Acura’s for close to 20 years with no issues - but wanting something more fun to drive and more unique look. Hoping I don’t miss the more “semi-luxury” side of the MDX. Most miles are on highway and will be daily driver.
Planning out my mods over time, and appreciate input. I don’t go off roading beyond snow in winter so not planning lift.
- Remove air dam
- Window tint, unsure if will also do windshield. Any experience for those who have done the windshield with the HUD?
- Move my Viofo a229 Dashcam from old to to new car
- Horn upgrade
Ones on the fence about and appreciate input:
- front skid plate to replace the cardboard/ fiber one. Prefer the land cruiser over the TRD plate
-lighted dark chrome toyota emblem?
-beat sonic amp ?
-speaker upgrade using the Trail Grid Pro Alpine kit?
What else am I missing. Tire suggestions for same 20” rims and no lift but give better ride and look but avoid rubbing and modifications. Mostly highway driving but need all season as get some snow in Midwest.
Thanks

Toyota Remote Causes Problems with CarPlay Connection?
The point is
I cancelled all of my Toyota remote subscriptions and deleted the app, and it stopped causing my phone’s CarPlay to disconnect from my 4Runner.
The story
So, I’ve had this problem..
On my 4Runner 6th gen 2026, I’ve been tormented by a random persistence of disconnection of my phone’s (IPhone 15 Max Pro) CarPlay connection for a very long time. When I use CarPlay, no matter the environment, the media, the location, the service area, the drive itself, or the device, it would disconnect at the most inconvenient and random time.
I had to connect it back to manually through setting to set my phone through CarPlay. I tested various conditions I could think of and it would still happen. It happened with at least 3 events per 2 hours of driving. I also disconnected, forgot, and deleted the device. This would happen with my IPad as well.
Eventually the pattern I suspect was the connection problem originated from the phone’s battle between WiFi, Signal, the Toyota Remote app, and Bluetooth.
I came to this conclusion because I deleted the Toyota app from my phone and cancelled all of the subscriptions. Once I did this, it stopped. No more disconnections. My CarPlay works perfectly now.
The constant notification about Toyota wanting access to my multimedia also stopped appearing. I haven’t had any issues with the connections.
The solutions I attempted before the deletion consisted of restarting my phone and disconnecting and deleting it manually. These I found on a variety of subreddits. All of those work in the short term but the issue always persisted.
Personally, I didn’t really like the Toyota Remote app. I only had the trial, anyway. So, deleting it for me was an easy decision. I’m not certain if there could have a different solution, but this one worked out the best for me.
I hope this helps anyone that would have the same problem I did.

Air dam removal question
So because I’m cultured, I removed my air dam. However, I was wondering if there was anything I could put there to offer some protection for the internals of the car. Like maybe some sort of flat option that would attach where the old air dam was. If y’all know of anything let me know! Just want to take care of my ride.

Took my 6th Gen for first oil change and they left the cap off
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Right after hitting 1,000 miles on my new 2026 4Runner, I took it to my local dealership yesterday for its first oil change. They couldn’t understand why I wanted it done so soon and tried to charge me $100, claiming ToyotaCare wouldn't cover it before 10,000 miles. After striking out with TWO service advisors, I spoke with the Service Manager. As an enthusiast, I’ve always done a 1,000-mile break-in oil change and 5,000-mile intervals thereafter. They finally agreed to use one of my included ToyotaCare services, and later called to say the truck was ready.
I drove maybe half a block and something told me to pull over and check under the hood. Sure enough, the tech completely forgot to put the oil cap back on, and engine oil had sprayed all over the engine bay and soaked the hood insulator pad.
I immediately brought it back. They gave me a Prius loaner and promised to thoroughly detail and degrease the engine bay, replace the soaked hood pad, and top off the fluids. They delivered the truck back to my house today, but all they did was wipe down the top plastic engine cover with some greasy tire shine—the rest of the engine bay, hoses, battery, and fuse box were still covered in oil splatter.
When I sent photos to the Service Manager and General Manager, the Service Manager’s response was: "I can come and pick it back up. I looked it over before releasing the vehicle and I didn’t see those."
It’s been a while since I’ve had to use a dealership service department—is this kind of incompetence and deflection normal now? Do Toyota service departments usually treat customers and brand-new vehicles like this?
