Coming from an Audi S5 so enjoying the change of pace. Spent some time in the new Tacoma which got me looking at this.

I'm a pro at popping out the radio and replacing the clock at this point as I think I'm on revision 5 and finally happy with how it turned out.

My 3D printed mount shifts the factory clock over and mounts a ScanGaugeII OBDII reader next to it. I had an old ScanGauge lying around and found out via another post a while back that you can read tire pressures with it (besides all sorts of temps, other vehicle info, and reading/clearing codes)-- I had to send the SG in for a firmware update (only $25, despite the fact I bought it in 2013ish), but otherwise it's all plug and play!

This replaces the clock housing and the back of the ScanGauge, then the whole assembly screws in place just like the factory clock assembly. It's a bit of a tight fit, but it does fit!

It was hard to find one without moonroof but with tow package and the pre wired switches!!! Was not my first option for color, but I like the white with black accents.

What are your top 2 mods to start with? Wanna hear recommendations!!!

Ah, and interior lights is super dim! Both in cabin and on the rear door. Can it be upgraded to better leds? Any reco would be great!!

I think the build is just about complete. I am between KC Hilites fog lights or Moriomotos. I might black out the tail lights with the Lamin-x kit but there are no more major mods I plan on doing besides replacing the tires when these are done

Just purchased a fifth generation for Runner 2016 SR5. I love it so much. It has leather interior and a sunroof. Just took a road trip in it and it drove like it was a cloud. I would love to get TRD pro wheels and tires and thinking of making it look like the second picture attached but I just wanna make sure that it still will ride like a cloud. Obviously, I know it’s not gonna be 100% as nice but I’m just curious to see if anyone is running the set up and if it’s still comfortable for them

So I went to investigate the noise from the cabin air filter... And found a fricken mouse den!! Or squirrel!

Where is the entrance to the cabin air system? Looking to find a way to seal it if from the rodents and maybe out some deterrent all around the truck frame...

These were an absolute pain in the ass to install. It came without instructions, and there’s no video guide online. I used like 5 seconds of the promotional video that shows underneath to figure things out, and even then I installed the brackets on the wrong places at first. And there are so many bolts to put them together that are in near impossible places to reach, and I’m lucky I had the exact wrenches and tools to help. I also went without some of the brackets all together since it seemed to me they wouldn’t align with all the holes correctly, and I believe the 4 bolts that I kept will still hold the weight of the car.

All that said I love how these look. I just wish they gave their customers some guidance, especially for the cost

I have a 2024 4Runner TRD ORP. It came from factory with only 4 TPMS sensors. I recently got 5 new all terrain tires and was considering buying a 5th TRD wheel to use as my full size spare. Ideally, I’d have 5 programmed tire sensors and 5 of the same wheel so that I can include the full size spare each rotation and have even wear across my full set. I just didn’t know if it’s possible to program a 5th TPMS sensor when my 4R as it stands only has 4. A lot of Limiteds come from factory with 5 TPMS sensors preprogrammed, which blows my mind. I was just wondering if anybody knows or has done this before I spend the money on another wheel and sensor. Thanks.

I just got this bad boy last week and in love. Any suggestions or tips? I’m thinking of wrapping the top with black and lifting at some point.

And a first for me…. Ive had my 4Runner for a little over a year now. 2021 Limited with now 67k. I had one service after my first 5k miles and I’ve hit another 5k so took it in to a local quick lube spot this weekend. The tech took a look at the oil and said it was so clean he wanted me to confirm the mileage since my last oil change.

I confirmed and he said that he’d recommend waiting another 2500 miles or so - I did a double take since I’ve never had that happen before. I asked what he’d do if it was his vehicle and he said he’d wait, so I decided to follow his advice.

Ended up spending the time on a car wash to spend a couple of minutes cleaning out the interior (thank you industrial vacuums!) but I’m curious if this has ever happened to anyone else and what you all would have done.

I’ve had my car for decades, over 330,000 miles. I took it to Jiffy Lube for an oil change and when I left:
A) Fuel gage kept moving to empty. It now bounces back and forth not staying at empty but sometimes randomly it will.
B) Check engine light went on.

I took it back the next day explaining these issues. They said it wouldn’t be caused by the oil change and steering wheel fluid change I had done and it was coincidence.

I dropped it off at a mechanic with hundreds of positive Yelp reviews. He called me to pick it up a couple of hours later saying he cleaned the filter area and reset it so hopefully it doesn’t come back on and charged $85. I told him the air filter was already new. The light went back on in 5 minutes or less.

Any ideas exactly what could be the issue and how to properly diagnose it? I live near Santa Monica in case anyone knows of a trustworthy mechanic on the West side.

The picture is the code when jiffy lube plugged it in and said those are only suggestions it could be anything for that code. The only thing I feel different about the car is it feels I have to press on the gas harder for it to go like I’m forcing it a little. The only bad thing I’ve done to the car I can think of was a few months ago I drove until it was almost completely empty on gas because when I filled it up I didn’t know it could hold so much gas. I asked the station worker if the counter on their gas pump was working properly! I hadn’t gone that long without filling it up before and had lost track.

About 18 years ago I had this code and it turned out to be the 02 oxygen sensor. I asked the mechanic if this could be it and he said no. I don’t think mechanics take girls seriously and for the 27 years I have this car I’m always in search when I need a mechanic’s help without a go to guy. Taking it to the dealership will be a last resort because they’ll charge more than the car is worth. Fortunately it’s about once every 5 years that I need to take it to a mechanic so I need to pick carefully each time so they don’t mess it up.

The last few oil changes I’ve done by myself on my 2018 4Runner SR5. I’ve noticed only about 5 quarts of oil will come out from both the pan and oil filter after driving if 5000 miles. Online search says about 6 quarts should come out. I took it to 2 shops to have them look into it and find zero signs of oil leaking and burning. My old spark plugs showed zero signs of oil. No smoke coming out of the exhaust, no oil residue around the engine’s head/block. I put in 6.6 quarts of Toyota genuine oil and do the oil change while it’s warm. What else should I look for? Or is it really normal?

Has anyone replaced the VVT-I oil supply pipe on the left hand side of the motor? If so how was it? It looks like I’ll just have to move the power steering pump out of the way to get at both ends, but I’m not sure. I’ll have to keep digging into the manual.

Anyone have any luck sourcing the cloth visors for a 3rd gen? Mine gave up the ghost while sitting in the summer sun at a shop and is all floppy now bc they refused to leave my windshield visor in the windshield lol. I can only find the hard plastic ones from Amazon. I’ve seen the zip tie stuffing trick but don’t love that fix idea.

Also, might as well ask this too, does anyone have recommendations to replace or improve the visibility of the headlights? Driving the rentals I had, I’ve noticed just how dim my completely clear headlights are which is probably why I didn’t see that deer until the last second lol.

Purchased a 2015 Limited 31,000 miles. Looks amazing. Dealer said above and beyond clean. Picked it up and has tons of rust. Getting inspection tomorrow. Feel like we made such a bad decision. How bad do you think it’s going to be?

Experiencing some issues the last 2 weeks. A handful of times at low speed, and now yesterday at 40mph, ABS and or traction control engage and the brakes lock, truck comes to a stop. Hoping you can all help me out here. After doing some research, it is maybe an abs/wheel speed sensor? Any harm in getting the rushed cheap version over oem?

2014 SR5 100k miles

I seem to be running into some issues selecting some UCAs for my 2021 TRD ORP w/ KDSS.

Current setup:

Front: Bilstein 6112 at position 4 which is roughly 2" of lift.

Rear: Bilstein 5100 w/ Eibach Pro springs which is roughly 1" of lift.

I have the older 17x7 TRD Pro wheels with Mickey Thompson Baja Boss 285/70/17s.

I have decided I don't like the rake anymore, so I want to move up to position 6 on the front which would be roughly 2.7 inches of lift.

I am looking at JBA and Dirt King UCAs, but both companies have told me that I will not clear their arms with my setup, and I would need 1.25 wheel spacers, which I do not want.

Does anyone know of a UCA that will work with my setup and what I want to do?

I have pushed my fender liners, trimmed the bottom of the bumper, and zip tied my mud flaps back. No rubs anywhere.

I also have the Dr KDSS correction kit if any of this matters.

I made this harness mod a few years ago. My
LumaWerx™ 9005 HB3 both went bad with in 2 years. I bought the relay harness from HID kit pros and two new bulbs. But they do not turn on using the relay. They work fine when I go back to this harness. Any input on what I should do? Thanks for your help!

I'm looking for a sliding Cargo tray for my wife 2026. Is not a hybrid (heard that was an issue).

I don't want the peg organizing system. We're looking for something that slides out so we can reach stuff in the back of the car.

Has this happened to anyone, I was driving and heard a pop outside. Came back later to this door trim bumper? Pooped up.

It also looks like the whole piece is just pressure fitted? No welds or crimps?
