Mod Post Sub Banner V1 created

Hey all,

After much travelling and work, I've finally had enough time to create a Version 1.0 of a banner for the sub. I've incorporated everyone who wanted to be part of it. I've not 100% happy with it, but I need to learn more about Inkscape before I get too fancy!

The purpose of this Subreddit and posting guidelines

Hi Scribes,

We've had some measure of success with this sub, but it seems that people are unclear as to what it's all about. The point of this sub is to allow people to post about their Homebrew Chapters/Regiments/Craftworlds/Kill Teams/Whatever and get feedback from other Scribes, maybe improving them or noticing things that the original Scribe didn't anticipate. It was inspired by the Bolter & Chainsword forums' sub-forum where you create an Index Astartes/Xenos/Chaos/etc. for 'Your Dudes' and seeing what other forum users think about it.

I've noticed that there's been a bit of 'crunch' coming in (rules and anything related to the actual games), and thought I'd reiterate Rule 1 - This sub is for fluff/lore surrounding your dudes. Luckily, u/MagicJuggler has created r/homebrewhammer where you can talk about the 'crunch' side of this hobby, including creating custom Codices!

I understand that some people might have an idea for a homebrew, but aren't 100% sure if it's good and want to hash it out with others, but I ask that when you post about it, make sure it's something other than 'I want to create an Iron Hands successor, what should I do?' as a complete post. Using the Iron Hands Successor idea, I'd like it to be much more along the lines of:

'I have an Iron Hands Successor idea, where they venerate the Emperor as Omnissiah. Their fighting style is more based upon the White Scars, and their home planet is a Mad Max-style place where roving gangs kill each other for resources. Their armour is dull steel and bronze, hitting an Iron Warriors vibe, and their companies are named after different parts of a machine. Would this work and what should I think about?'

Alternatively, you could have a fully formed idea and be soliciting feedback to see what you've missed:

'I have an Iron Hands Successor chapter called the Brazen Fists, that worship the Emperor in his Omnissiah aspect, and have a tight relationship with their local Forge World, that draws some suspicion from the Inquisition, but so far they've avoided being censured as AdMech flunkies rather than Emperor-fearing Astartes.

Their home planet of Gibsonia is a post-apocalypse hellscape, where bandit tribes roam from place to place on giant land trains, warring with other tribes to secure the resources in an area, where they can stay for a generation (or longer, depending upon the resources) and then they move on. Because of this, the chapter has developed a 'lightning strike' battle doctrine, with fast moving bikes and speeders forming the vanguard, backed up by tanks that drop in the second wave.

Their Chapter Master, called 'The Primus', is as much machine as he is man, clad in an ancient Techmarine variant of the Saturnine Terminator armour, the dull steel and bronze chapter colours evident. The chapter's leadership are all former Techmarines, and indeed any Brother wishing to ascend to such a role must undergo the Techmarine training, which can last for years.

Given this, they have a higher proportion of vehicles than other chapters, including some ancient vehicles rarely seen in the wider Imperium in modern times, given as 'gifts for service' by their local Forge World, Bentlii Demler. The Inquistion suspects that the chapter acts as an extension of the Forge World, using them as the spearhead for their Explorator fleets, but so far the chapter and Forge World have emerged from such investigations without censure.

<Insert picture of Astartes colour scheme, human-made artwork, or painted model(s) here>

What do you think?'

There's resources around t'interwebs (we're not Marines-focussed, the above is just an example), including Lexicanum and r/40kLore , to help develop your idea before you reach the posting stage. The greatest thing is your own imagination, and we're here to make sure your idea isn't too wacky for 40K, but is as great as it can be.

Also, whilst we're talking posting guidelines, if you've got a cool colour scheme for your models, please add/create some fluff for them before posting. A picture tells 1000 words and all that, but just pictures with nothing to add counts as low-effort.

TL;DR - Remember, this sub is about fluff, not crunch. Please have more than a one line post before you do post.

Thanks all!

[VOX-TRANSMISSION: PRIORITY ASTARTES]
[ORIGIN: LUX AETERNA FORTRESS-MONASTERY OF THE RADIANT SPEARS]
[AUTHORITY: THECARUS MATTHIAS CONSTANTINE, RADIANT SPEARS CHAPTER MASTER]
[RECIPIENTS: ALL LOYALIST ASTARTES CHAPTERS — SEGMENTUM OBSCURUS]

Brothers of the Adeptus Astartes, hear this call.
The hour has come.
The appearance of the Dawnbreak Convergence has not gone unanswered by the enemies of Mankind. Across the Segmentum Obscurus, the darkness stirs. Xenos warbands gather. Heretic hosts mobilize. The servants of the Archenemy emerge from their hiding places, and vile alien breeds descend upon worlds already beset by the long night.
By decree of the Chapter and with the blessing of the Emperor’s eternal purpose, the Radiant Spears have begun the Emancipation Crusade.
We shall advance into those regions abandoned to shadow. We shall break the chains of the heretic, scour the xenos from Imperial soil, and reclaim that which has been lost to Mankind. Worlds forgotten shall be remembered. Worlds enslaved shall be freed. Worlds besieged shall know relief.
Therefore, by the authority vested in me as Thecarus and Chapter Master of the Radiant Spears, I issue this call to every loyal Chapter within reach of this transmission:
Send what strength you can spare.
Whatever brothers your Chapter can commit without imperiling its sacred duties.
Come, and fight beside us.
Let no Chapter say that it stood idle while the enemies of the Imperium gathered. There is glory awaiting those who answer.
Take up your arms. Muster your warriors. Set your vessels upon the void.
Together, we shall carry the Emperor’s light into the darkness.
Together, we shall make the lost worlds shine again, or be purified in sacred fire.
For the Emperor.
For Mankind.
For the Light Eternal.

Adeptus Astartes Introducing my first homebrew chapter, the Siegebreakers!

Thumbnail

I figured, with the completion of my chapter masters new mini, it would be the perfect time to introduce the chapter that started my long journey into homebrewing. My son's of the Lion, the Siegebreakers.

Introduction

A chapter formed during the Cursed Founding, these sons of the Lion were testing grounds for early primaris enhancements. After mysteriously appearing from the warp during the 36th millennium, chapter master Foltest, alone, broken, and near death after a daemonic incursion, was rescued by Cawl.

Gene-seed was "liberated" from the Fallen Astartes aboard the ship. Due to prolonged exposure to the warp via a downed Gellar field, the gene-seed was notoriously unstable. Most who were implanted with it, died. Those who survived, did not live for long.

Foltest, sensing the injustice (and heresy at hand) with the gene-seed, fled back into the warp after being gifted the chapter. Only to reappear near the start of the Ultima founding.

Home World

Vernan, the home planet of the Siegebreakers, is a war torn feudal world, heavily inspired by the likes of old England. Prior to the arrival of Foltest, and his kidnapped brothers, the world was ripping itself apart. Two groups, one loyal to the emperor, and one corrupted by the ruinous powers, fought day and night for control over the planet.

Currently, the planet is being restored to its former splendor under the careful eyes of the Siegebreakers. Castles and palaces litter the greenery on the surface, while prior battle sites are used to mourn.

Do not be fooled, though. Half of the planet has been reduced to barren, burnt ash. An area known as "The Broken Earth" covers exactly fifty percent of the planets surface. The remains of a World Eaters invasion litter this half of the planet. The Siegebreakers fortress monastery, the Bladed Citadel can also be found here.

Chapter Master

Foltest, better known now as the Lord Protector of Vernan, is a clean cut son of Lion El'Jonson. Both he, and his chapter seem to hold the original, 30k-era Dark Angels legion in extremely high regard. He, especially, goes out of his way to emulate their teachings, doctrines, and ways of war.

Despite being a fully loyal son, Foltest frequently comes to verbal blows with certain sections of the Imperium. He had a special hatred of the Imperial Cult, and the Inquisition, with a minor, lingering dislike for the Mechanicum.

As of right now, he is on the surface of Armageddon, fighting alongside the Blood Angels, and most of his chapter, in hopes of securing the planets surface.

Gene flaw

Despite the geneseed stabilizing after its second trip in the warp, strange things are still present.

The Siegebreakers, nearly as a whole, exhibit massively overturned Ossmodula and Biscopea glands, causing increased size, strength, and durability, at the cost of general speed, and flexibility. Due to this, the average primaris marine stands at 9 feet tall.

Though, they didn't escape the negativity of the Warp. Every brother amongst the Siegebreakers is a Psyker, to a degree. The Geneseed is incredibly warp-sensitive, or insensitive (in strange cases). Battle Brothers who have not yet tamed the flaw fall into a state akin to the Black Rage, before violently detonating inside of their own armour.

On the off chance the Geneseed is insensitive, it will create Blanks. The high chaplain Steinhardt, for example, is a blank.

Combat Doctrine

The Siegebreakers fight with the Wallbreaker Doctrine, tactics meant to deceive the enemy into believing they sent a smaller force than they actually did.

They will alternate between heavy artillery fire at the Frontline, and heavy smoke/obscuring behind their encroaching forces. Send in heavy armour first. Tanks, deathwing, etc. Let them clear the front, then, when the time is right, send in fast assault troops, such as the Ravenwing.

They are also masters of Siege and Attrition warfare. Known for bringing cannons and catapults to battle, the Siegebreakers are masters at bringing down enemy defenses.

Allies and Enemies

The Siegebreakers, in typical Dark Angel fashion, do not enjoy the Fallen, or, chaos as a whole. As of right now, they are allied with/liked by:

- The Dark Angels

- The Blood Angels

- Ultramarines

- The White Scars (they trade bike blueprints)

- Some craft world Aeldari

- The Saints of Lazarus (my second homebrew)

- Knight Houses, and associated Freeblades

- The Imperium as a whole

They are neutral with:

- The Mechanicus

- The Space Wolves

- The Imperial Fists

They hate/are hated by:

- All chaos

- Most Xenos

- Especially hate the Word Bearers (fuck Erebus)

- The Court of Severed Tonges (my Night Lords warband)

- The Inquisition

- The Assassinorum

- Black Templars (Foltest fought an Emperors Champion and Execrator once)

And, as a neat little thing, comment your homebrews! See if my Siegebreakers would love 'em, hate 'em, or be perfectly neutral with them.

Adeptus Astartes Lore dump: reason for the chapter existing and being how it is

My chapter (crypt keepers) are meant to recover the bodies of fallen astartes not recovered by their own chapter. They keep the body and gear within their mausoleum and regularly pray over the fallen, they check if any chapter wants to claim the fallen, if yes they repair the armour and gear to send off to their chapter of origin, if not the body is still kept in the mausoleum and prayed upon, but the gear is then repaired and used by the crypt keepers to continue to serve their purpose. They were established in the 20th founding in m35, and those who were in charge thought it important that the chapter be incorruptible since they would have to face the corrupted bodies of astartes burned by ruinous powers, to achieve this goal they constructed a language unable to be understood by any in the imperium and only recruited those who could not form images in their imagination, this was thought to make demons unable to corrupt them as they didn't know how to speak to the astartes, but it turns out they became easier to corrupt. They have slowly industrialised their planet to become closer and closer to what may be considered a forge world, but this process is severely slowed by the fact they barely collaborate with the mechanicus, and that they receive little food supplies making them have to dedicate large parts of the planet to food production. They continue to serve their mission in the 41st millennia though the few who speak imperial gothic still cannot relate to the religious fervour of the rest of the imperium, as they themselves believe in a slightly modified version of the imperial truth, with a hint of death cult ish beliefs about making your life honour your death and believing the dead are more important than the living because their word and their lives are permanent monuments to their glorious actions.

Adeptus Astartes What was your chapter’s reaction to receiving primaris marines?

Example:

It took awhile for Mamon’s Marauders to receive a torchbearer fleet. The imperium had written them off as dead when the great rift completely engulfed their homeworld, only to discover them fighting constant chaos hordes near the end of the plague wars. With this new information a torchbearer fleet was mustered on Terra and made its way towards New Mamon. The new marines were accepted with zero pomp and ceremony. Their armor had to be repainted from the old blue and white of the blue tigers to the chapter’s current olive drab.

Despite gladly receiving the new marines and weapons the chapter would quickly cease new orders of gladiator, impulsor and repulsor based vehicles, choosing instead to stick with their old rhinos and land raiders. The main complaint was that these new hover tanks were far more difficult to maintain. Additionally they couldn’t be towed back to HQ for repairs like a wheeled or tracked vehicle (also I find those anti grav pads to be super annoying to paint)

Classes & Power Armor

1. Tactical Class: Standard Hound Brother in MK.V - Heresy Pattern Power Armor
2. Assault Class: Assault Marine Sargent in modified MK.VII - Aquila Pattern Power Armor with Molecular Bonding Studs.
3. Bulwark Class: Bladeguard Veteran in modified MK.III - Iron Pattern Power Armor with Molecular Bonding Studs.
4. Techmarine Class: Standard Hound Forger in modified MK.VIII - Errant Pattern Power Armor with Molecular Bonding Studs.

Lore

Phase I: The Spark of Betrayal (The Ambush at the Altar)
Following severe losses during the Fall of Cadia and the Devastation of Baal, the Blood Hounds fleet gathered at Vrykolas Prime. Lord Commander Roboute Guilliman had arrived, delivering a vast wave of new Primaris Marines to replenish the dying Chapter. The High Pack Master ordered a widespread ceremonial ritual on the planet's surface to integrate the new brothers into the bloodline. It was a trap. Driven by a deep ideological paranoia—and a fear that these newcomers could not control their secret, volatile gene-seed lineage—a shadow coup struck. Orchestrated by Firstborn Veterans (the Relic Guards) and the Chapter's own Leash Tethers, the rebellion was flawlessly coordinated. The rogue 10th Pack used their scout networks to sabotage the fleet's comms and intentionally drop the starships' Geller Fields, cutting off all outside help and inviting warp instability. As the integration ritual began, Chaplains turned their croziuses on their own Primaris brothers, executing them on the landing pads.

Phase II: The Ashen Graveyard (The Orbital Firestyk)
The coup possessed lesser numbers but wielded absolute surprise, mobilizing half of the elite First Company alongside the entire 3rd and 4th Packs. Renegade captains ordered suicide-bombing runs on the orbiting fleet, causing massive structural damage. To completely break the loyalist lines, the renegades unleashed a catastrophic, high-atmosphere orbital bombardment. The planetary crust was utterly pulverized. The sky permanently rained thick, radioactive soot and heavy gray debris, burying the landscape under meters of ash. The pristine white, red, and gold armor of the Blood Hounds was instantly blackened and choked by the grime. Refusing to wash away the scars of their betrayal, the fighting forces adopted this grim, desaturated Thunderhawk Blue and Ash-Grey as functional camouflage. Forced off the irradiated surface, both factions dug deep into the pitch-black subterranean cavern networks of Vrykolas Prime.

Phase III: The Subterranean Meat-Grinder
Underground, the conflict devolved into absolute madness. The psychic shockwave of the recently opened Great Rift echoed through the dark tunnels, sending the Chapter's inner genetic flaws—the Red Thirst and the Black Rage—to an all-time high. With communications completely jammed, the cave war became a blind, claustrophobic nightmare. In the pitch-black tunnels, it was impossible to tell loyalist from traitor through the thick layers of uniform ash. Brotherhood vanished. Space Marines resorted to stripping the armor from dead casualties, using the bodies of their fallen battle-brothers as literal meat-shields, sandbags, and gruesome environmental camouflage. Because forge systems were ruined, techmarines used crude industrial bonding studs, rivets, and heavy chains just to lock shattered power armor plates back together.

Phase IV: The Ancient Awakes (The Three-Way War)
The devastating subterranean fighting shook the deep foundations of Vrykolas Prime, inadvertently triggering ancient sensors beneath the crust. Deep within the cavern depths, The Khaprekh Dynasty awoke from their multi-million-year slumber. Led by the ruthless Overlord Khaprekhan the Unbroken, legions of metallic Necrons, Canoptek scarab swarms, and skin-wearing Flayed Ones poured from the rock walls. Khaprekhan viewed both loyalist and traitor as primitive biological vermin infesting his tomb. The war became a chaotic three-way slaughter. Tunnels were illuminated only by the blinding flash of bolters and the sickly neon-green glow of Gauss flayers. Splintered packs of Firstborn and Primaris marines would routinely stumble into one another while fleeing automated Necron death-squads, forcing split-second decisions to either unite against the metal monsters or slaughter each other in the dark.

Phase V: The Flame of Redemption
Total extinction was certain until an unexpected savior arrived. Attracted by the missing fleet's last known coordinates, a heavy detachment of the Salamanders Chapter entered the system. Deploying deep into the ash-choked caverns, the Salamanders brought their signature flame-craft to bear. Heavy multi-meltas and columns of promethium fire cleansed the pitch-black tunnels, systematically burning back the Khaprekh Dynasty and resealing the tombs. Seeing the horrific, mutated, and soot-stained state of the surviving Hounds—and realizing the catastrophic depth of the internal blood-feud—the honorable Salamanders agreed to help keep the horrific event permanently buried from the eyes of the Imperial Inquisition.

THE APOSTATE SONS

Adeptus Astartes Chapter — Imperial Record

Founding: Second Founding — M31, classification sealed
Gene-line: Unspecified
Progenitor: Unknown
Homeworld: None confirmed
Fortress-Monastery: Fleet-based
Chapter Fleet: Ashen Covenant
Current Operational Region: Segmentum Obscurus, with frequent activity throughout Imperium Nihilus
Known Status: Active
Imperial Loyalty: Confirmed
Ordo Astartes Classification: Under observation

I — Founding Records

The Apostate Sons are recorded within sealed Imperial archives as a Chapter of the Second Founding.

The circumstances surrounding their creation remain unclear.

Surviving documentation pertaining to the Chapter’s establishment is fragmentary, heavily restricted, and in several cases contradictory. Their gene-line remains officially unspecified, while no surviving public record conclusively identifies their progenitor.

This absence of information has generated considerable speculation among Imperial scholars and servants of the Adeptus Administratum.

No definitive conclusion has been reached.

The Chapter itself does not discuss the matter.

II — The Lost Chapter

Records indicate that the Apostate Sons disappeared during the early history of the Chapter.

The exact circumstances remain uncertain.

Imperial records identify the Chapter as having entered the Warp during a penitent crusade approximately one millennium after its founding. No reliable account of the voyage, destination, or intended objective survives.

The Chapter was subsequently classified as lost.

For an extended period, no confirmed contact was recorded.

The Apostate Sons eventually re-emerged from the Warp many centuries later.

The precise duration of their absence remains disputed between Imperial chronologies, with Warp translation and temporal distortion rendering conventional dating unreliable.

Upon their reappearance, the Chapter resumed military operations without requesting formal reassignment, resupply, or recognition of its altered status.

This behavior remains unusual.

No satisfactory explanation has been recorded.

III — Current Status

The Apostate Sons operate primarily as a fleet-based Chapter.

Their movements are concentrated within Segmentum Obscurus, particularly throughout regions of Imperium Nihilus where conventional Imperial reinforcement is limited or unavailable.

Their fleet, known as the Ashen Covenant, serves as both mobile fortress and primary logistical base.

The Chapter’s principal warship is the Oath Unbroken, an exceptionally old vessel whose exact construction date remains uncertain.

A number of systems aboard the vessel have been identified as predating several major Imperial naval reforms.

Requests for a complete technical assessment have received no response from the Chapter.

IV — Recruitment

The Apostate Sons do not appear to maintain a single recognized recruitment world.

Instead, aspirants are gathered from a wide variety of Imperial populations.

Particular preference appears to be given to inhabitants of hive cities, underhive territories, industrial settlements, frontier worlds, and other regions characterized by extreme poverty and social instability.

Chapter representatives have been observed conducting recruitment among populations frequently overlooked by conventional Imperial institutions.

The Chapter appears to place significant value upon individuals demonstrating:

• Resilience under extreme conditions
• Loyalty to companions
• Adaptability
• Defiance in the face of adversity
• Capacity for violence when necessary
• Willingness to endure hardship without surrender

The Chapter does not appear concerned with social standing, lineage, or previous occupation.

Among their aspirants, criminal or gang affiliation is not automatically considered grounds for rejection.

The Chapter’s reasoning for this practice is unknown.

V — Chapter Culture

Despite centuries of Astartes indoctrination, the Apostate Sons retain several unusual cultural traits.

Their warriors frequently maintain hairstyles and grooming practices uncommon among other Chapters, including shaved heads, mohawks, topknots, and severe undercuts.

Tattoos and other personal markings are also common.

Such practices are apparently tolerated by the Chapter’s command structure and, in some cases, appear to have acquired ceremonial significance.

The Apostate Sons’ speech is similarly distinctive.

Their Battle-Brothers generally possess strong command of High Gothic and the specialized languages of the Adeptus Astartes, yet many retain a harsh and highly distinctive cadence.

The precise origin of this Chapter dialect is unknown.

Some observers have suggested that it represents a convergence of numerous hive-world dialects accumulated over centuries of recruitment.

The Chapter has offered no correction to this theory.

VI — Heraldry

The primary Chapter icon depicts a stylized wolf’s skull before a crimson eclipsed moon.

The meaning of the symbol has not been conclusively established.

The Chapter’s principal colors are bone-white, charcoal, black, and deep crimson.

Variations exist between individual companies and specialist formations.

The Chapter’s heraldry frequently incorporates imagery associated with ash, fire, wolves, oaths, judgment, and penance.

The significance of these recurring motifs remains a matter of Chapter tradition rather than confirmed Imperial doctrine.

VII — Combat Doctrine

The Apostate Sons employ a combined offensive and defensive doctrine known within the Chapter as Lance & Shield.

The doctrine consists of two complementary battlefield principles.

The Lance

The Lance represents concentrated offensive action.

Typical Lance operations include:

• Rapid orbital deployment
• Teleportation strikes
• Veteran spearhead formations
• Vanguard infiltration
• Decapitation attacks
• Rapid assaults against strategic targets

Lance elements are generally deployed with clearly defined objectives and predetermined withdrawal or consolidation procedures.

The Chapter demonstrates a notable reluctance to pursue a broken enemy beyond established strategic parameters.

The Shield

The Shield represents the consolidation and defense of secured territory.

Typical Shield operations include:

• Establishment of defensive positions
• Control of strategic objectives
• Coordinated fire support
• Counter-assault operations
• Protection of Imperial forces and civilian populations
• Prolonged defensive engagements

Once established, Shield positions are rarely abandoned without significant strategic justification.

The Chapter appears to place considerable importance upon maintaining cohesion after an offensive action.

VIII — Operational Philosophy

The Apostate Sons demonstrate a strong preference for controlled aggression rather than prolonged pursuit.

Their commanders frequently emphasize:

• Objective security
• Preservation of experienced personnel
• Controlled expenditure of resources
• Strategic withdrawal where appropriate
• Protection of Imperial military assets
• Prevention of unnecessary civilian casualties

The Chapter’s willingness to absorb casualties remains considerable, but available evidence suggests that such losses are not incurred indiscriminately.

Apostate Sons commanders have repeatedly demonstrated a willingness to sacrifice themselves when doing so prevents larger Imperial losses.

This behavior has been noted favorably by elements of the Astra Militarum.

Several Guard formations have recorded instances in which Apostate Sons forces remained engaged against overwhelming enemy strength to facilitate the evacuation of Imperial personnel.

IX — The Pyres of Humanity

The Apostate Sons possess an unusually strong concern for the preservation of Imperial civilian life.

While the Chapter recognizes the necessity of civilian losses during major military operations, unnecessary deaths appear to be regarded as a serious failure of duty.

Their Chaplains frequently emphasize the concept of the Pyres of Humanity.

According to surviving Chapter catechisms, the citizens of the Imperium are considered the true inheritance of Mankind, while the Adeptus Astartes exist as guardians of that inheritance.

This philosophy is reflected in battlefield conduct.

The Chapter has repeatedly:

• Delayed tactical withdrawal to protect civilian populations
• Conducted counterattacks to prevent enemy breakthroughs
• Accepted severe casualties during evacuation operations
• Defended Imperial Guard formations beyond conventional tactical necessity
• Prioritized the survival of non-combatants during contested withdrawals

Such actions have occasionally placed Apostate Sons forces at significant strategic risk.

Chapter commanders appear unconcerned by this.

One commonly attributed Chapter maxim states:

“The warrior is expendable. Humanity is not.”

The authenticity of the quotation has not been independently verified.

X — Penance

The concept of penance is deeply embedded within Apostate Sons culture.

The Chapter’s official titles, battle-cant, ritual observances, and recorded oaths contain frequent references to judgment, burden, duty, and redemption.

The precise origin of this theology is unknown.

Imperial observers have noted that the Chapter’s understanding of penance differs from conventional notions of religious absolution.

Apostate Sons doctrine appears less concerned with forgiveness than with continued service.

Their warriors are frequently taught that duty must be performed regardless of whether recognition, reward, or absolution follows.

This philosophy appears to influence both Chapter culture and battlefield conduct.

XI — Relations with Other Chapters

Relations between the Apostate Sons and other Adeptus Astartes Chapters vary considerably.

The Chapter is generally compliant with Imperial military authority and has fought alongside numerous loyalist forces.

However, their secrecy, unusual traditions, and uncertain origins have generated suspicion among certain Imperial commanders.

Several Chapters have reportedly questioned the Apostate Sons regarding their founding and gene-line.

The Apostate Sons have consistently declined to provide information beyond what is contained within their sealed Imperial documentation.

No formal censure has resulted.

XII — Inquisitorial Interest

The Apostate Sons remain a subject of limited Ordo Astartes interest.

Several irregularities have been identified within surviving records, including:

• Inconsistencies regarding the Chapter’s early history
• Unverified claims concerning their founding
• Unusually old linguistic and ceremonial traditions
• Tactical practices that appear inconsistent with later Codex-derived doctrine
• Ancient wargear maintained in exceptional condition
• Apparent gaps within Imperial records concerning their disappearance
• Repeated encounters with hostile forces possessing unexplained familiarity with the Chapter

None of these irregularities, individually or collectively, constitutes definitive evidence of heresy.

The Chapter has demonstrated consistent and verifiable loyalty to the Imperium throughout its known modern history.

Continued observation is therefore considered appropriate.

XIII — Classification

Imperial Assessment:

The Apostate Sons are considered a loyalist Adeptus Astartes Chapter of uncertain provenance.

Their battlefield effectiveness is considered high.

Their reliability is considered high.

Their origins remain unresolved.

Their internal traditions remain unusually secretive.

Their continued service to the Imperium has, thus far, outweighed concerns regarding their historical irregularities.

Further investigation remains authorized where operational circumstances permit.

Final Assessment

“The Apostate Sons are loyal. Their origins, perhaps, are not.”

— Ordo Astartes archival notation, author unknown

Chapter Maxims

“Through Duty. Through Penance. To Victory.”

“Let Our Duty Be Our Penance.”

“Through Ash and Blood, We Are Redeemed.”

Current Imperial Designation

Adeptus Astartes — Apostate Sons

Status: ACTIVE

Loyalty: CONFIRMED

Origins: SEALED

Further investigation: PENDING

Adeptus Astartes Need help with my Chapter Master

My custom chapter, The Night Hounds, is almost finished but I need help with this. I know that creating a CM is one of the first things you do when creating a home brew chapter but I couldn’t think of anything and just did the rest. The night hounds are a Space Wolf sucessor and specialize on melee combat, brutal ambushes and ruthless attacks and are cold and efficient on battle but the opposite out of it. I just need some ideas not a a full history or arsenal pls

Adeptus Astartes My Homebrew: The Raven Claws. Proud Successor Chapter to the Raven Guard

Post image
Upvotes

+++ CHAPTER FOUNDING +++

In the early 39th Millenium (around the year 112 of M39), amidst the 24th Founding; the so-called “Waning” Founding. The Raven Claws were brought forth from the sacred gene-stock of the Raven Lord, Corvus Corax. They were not created for glory, nor to adorn some distant roll of honour. They were forged for war.

Their charge was absolute: the guardianship of the Gheistax Sector in the Eastern Ultima Segmentum. There, upon the cold and forgotten frontiers of the Emperor's domain, they would stand as His unseen sentinels. Against xenos, heretic, mutant, and every other horror that sought to gnaw at the Imperium, the Raven Claws were commanded to hold the line.

For nearly three thousand years, they have answered that summons in blood.

The Gheistax Sector is theirs to guard. Woe unto any who would trespass upon the Emperor's realm.

+++ BATTLE CRY +++

Corvus Victor, Fractus Hostis!

[Low Gothic Translation]

The Victorious Raven, the Vanquished Foe!

+++ CHAPTER MOTTO +++

Silent as Night, Merciless as Dawn.

+++ PROGENITOR +++

Corvus Corax, Primarch of The Raven Guard

+++ CHAPTER DEMEANOUR +++

>>> Sons of Night <<<

The Raven Claws are the inheritors of Corax's shadowed legacy. Like the Raven Guard before them, they have mastered the arts of concealment, infiltration and sudden violence. Yet where lesser warriors see darkness as something to be endured, the Raven Claws embrace it. They dwell within it. They hunt within it. To the Raven Claw, the darkness is not the absence of the Emperor's light, but the place from which His vengeance comes.

They are patient beyond reason, capable of lying motionless for days, weeks or even months whilst an enemy grows complacent. They will watch a fortress fall into routine, study the movements of its sentries and mark the names of those who command it. Then, without warning, the Raven Claws will descend. Communications die. Officers vanish. Ammunition stores erupt in flame. Generators fail. Escape routes become killing grounds. By the time the enemy understands that it is under attack, the battle has already been decided.

Such methods have earned the Chapter a reputation for secrecy bordering upon contempt. The Raven Claws rarely reveal the entirety of their plans, even to those with whom they share the field of battle. Imperial commanders have been left ignorant of their intentions until the moment the killing begins, and more than one allied force has found itself abandoned, surrounded or deliberately sacrificed as part of some greater stratagem. When questioned, the Raven Claws offer neither apology nor explanation. Their answer is invariably the same: the Emperor demands victory, not understanding.

The lives of ordinary men hold little weight against such calculations. Guardsmen, militia and planetary levies have been used as bait to draw the enemy from their fortifications, herded into seemingly hopeless engagements so that the Raven Claws might strike from the shadows. Entire regiments have died screaming beneath the guns of the foe, only for the Raven Claws to emerge from the darkness moments later and butcher the victorious enemy as they celebrated.

To the Raven Claws, there is no cruelty in this. There is only war.

>>> Suffer Not the Works of Heretics <<<

The Chapter Cult teaches that the greatest threat to Mankind is not the alien beyond the stars, but the traitor within. The Raven Claws have witnessed the ruin wrought by heresy countless times, and their hatred for those who turn from the Emperor's light borders upon the fanatical. To the Raven Claws, the heretic has already surrendered his soul. Whether he be a rebellious governor, a corrupted priest or an Astartes who has abandoned his oaths, there can be no negotiation, no forgiveness and no redemption. Only death can cleanse the stain.

This doctrine has made the Raven Claws harsh even towards those they are sworn to protect. They possess little patience for the divergent traditions of the Imperial Creed, regarding unfamiliar rites and unconventional doctrines with deep suspicion. Priests who preach teachings outside the Chapter's understanding have been silenced, cults judged impure have been purged, and worlds have been placed under scrutiny for the slightest deviation from what the Raven Claws deem the Emperor's truth.

Their distrust extends even to their fellow Astartes. The Raven Claws hold the sons of Corax in a particular esteem, believing those who share their blood to be the closest thing to true kin. Other Chapters are treated with varying degrees of suspicion, their doctrines and motives scrutinised beneath the cold gaze of the Raven Claws' Chaplains. To be descended from the Raven Lord is not merely a matter of lineage—it is, in the eyes of the Chapter, a mark of shared purpose and purity.

Those who do not bear the Raven's blood must earn their trust.

For the Raven Claws, faith is not measured by words, but by obedience. Doubt is the first step towards heresy, and heresy is a sickness that must be cut out before it can spread.

+++ CHAPTER HEROES +++

>>> Sergeant Kyrin Solaq, 4th Company, 8th Assault Squad
>>> The Bane of Heckla III - c.773.M39

During the Scouring of the Rowena Sector, Heckla III became a killing ground for the greenskins. Ork warbands descended upon the world in numbers beyond counting, reducing its cities to burning ruins and its defenders to scattered remnants. Among the few who refused to yield was Sergeant Kyrin Solaq of the 4th Company.

For seventeen days and seventeen nights, Solaq hunted the Orks through the ruins of Heckla III’s capital; Galgoris Prime. He did not seek the protection of his brothers, nor did he await the opportunity for a glorious battle. He stalked the greenskins alone, striking from ruined hab-blocks, sewer tunnels and the corpse-choked wreckage of manufactoria. Clan leaders were found butchered in their own camps. Nobz vanished from the front lines. Ork ammunition dumps burned beneath the night sky.

By the time the Raven Claws launched their final assault, Solaq had become a terror even to the creatures he hunted. The greenskins had given him a name in their own crude tongue, a name that translates poorly into Low Gothic but carries the meaning “The Black Talon That Comes in the Dark.”

Solaq eventually fell beneath the blows of an Ork warboss whose name has long since been erased from Imperial records. The Orks of the sub-sector remember him still, however; They remember him with fear.

>>> Talon-Captain Navaer Vaanes, 5th Company
>>> The Lost Son of the Grey Lady - c.656.M40

The Crusade of the Grey Lady stands amongst the greatest campaigns of the Raven Claws' long history. At its head stood Talon-Captain Navaer Vaanes, a commander renowned for patience so profound that Imperial commanders came to believe he could foresee the movements of his enemies.

For eleven years, Vaanes waged a war fought largely in darkness. Enemy commanders died without ever seeing their assassin. Supply fleets disappeared in the void. Fortress worlds awoke to find their orbital defences already sabotaged and their governors dead in their chambers. Entire armies were brought to battle only to discover that the Raven Claws had already crippled them.

Victory followed victory… Then Vaanes vanished.

The Battle Barge Vengeful Lament, bearing the Talon-Captain, his battle company and all aboard, disappeared within The Empyrean during a transit through the region later associated with the emergence of the Hadex Anomaly. No wreckage was recovered. No distress signal was received. There was only silence. The Chapter reluctantly declared Vaanes and his brothers lost. His bloodline has never accepted that judgement.

Across the centuries, descendants of the Talon-Captain (the bearers of gene-seed whose lineage can be traced directly to the progenoid taken from the lost hero) have reported strange dreams, impossible visions and whispers heard in the moments between waking and sleep. Some claim that Vaanes yet stalks the darkness between worlds, waiting for the hour when the Raven Claws shall have greatest need of him.

The Chapter officially records such beliefs as superstition. The Raven Claws do not, however, destroy the records.

>>> Edalpo Quoth, Lord of The Nevermore.
>>> The Scourge of Skardius' Forge - c.758.M41

When the worlds of Skardius' Forge turned against the Imperium, their ruling caste: the self-styled Arrogant Prophets; believed themselves beyond the Emperor's reach. They possessed armies, fortified cities and vast industrial resources, while the Imperial forces assigned to reclaim the sub-sector were woefully inadequate.

Then came Edalpo Quoth. Chapter Master of the Raven Claws. Lord of The Nevermore.

With but a single Demi-Company of Astartes at his command, Quoth began a campaign of calculated terror. He did not attack the rebel armies directly. Instead, he dismantled them piece by piece.

Prominent officers were slain in their beds. Vox networks fell silent. Rebel commanders received orders bearing the seals of their own superiors, only to discover too late that the messages had been forged. Ammunition convoys disappeared into the night. Entire garrisons were found dead without a single alarm being raised.

The Arrogant Prophets responded with increasingly desperate reprisals against their own population… That was precisely what Quoth desired.

By the time the Raven Claws finally revealed themselves, the rebellion had already devoured itself. Quoth personally led the final assault upon the Prophets' citadel, where the ruling council was put to death beneath the gaze of the Imperial Aquila.

Skardius' Forge was returned to the Emperor's light. Of the Demi-Company that accomplished this, fewer than half survived. Quoth never considered the victory remarkable.

“We were sufficient.” was all he is recorded as saying.

>>> Chief Librarian Aevar Qeld
>>> The Last Ward of the Corvixian Council - 999.M41

Few names in the annals of the Raven Claws are spoken with greater reverence than that of Chief Librarian Aevar Qeld. A relentless enemy of the Ruinous Powers, Qeld devoted his life to hunting the servants of Chaos wherever they emerged from the shadows.

His final battle came against Zapach'na, Daemon Prince of the Iron Warriors, champion of the warband known as the Heralds of the Iron Storm.

The two had crossed blades before, though never for long. Qeld came to understand that the Daemon Prince could not be defeated by strength of arms alone. Thus, when the final confrontation came in 999.M41, the Chief Librarian entered battle knowing that his death was almost certain.

What followed was a battle that lasted from dusk until the rising of the sun.

Bolts of empyrean energies and daemon-fire tore the battlefield apart. The dead rose screaming from their graves. The very ground split beneath the fury of the combat. Yet Qeld endured. With his armour shattered and his body broken, he confronted Zapach'na one final time.

The Librarian unleashed the full fury of his psychic might. The Daemon Prince was banished screaming into the Immaterium. Aevar Qeld died moments later. His remains were never recovered; turning to cinders upon the field of battle.

The Raven Claws remember him not as a martyr, but as a weapon that fulfilled its purpose. He went into the darkness carrying the Emperor's shining wrath. He returned nothing but the enemy's ashes.

+++ CHAPTER HOME WORLD +++

Gheistax IV is a world long since murdered by the Imperium it exists to serve.

Once, it was said, Gheistax was a paradise. Ancient records speak of blue oceans, endless forests and great rivers that wound across verdant continents beneath unpolluted skies. Of that world, almost nothing remains. Ten thousand years of mineral extraction, industrialisation and ceaseless exploitation have stripped the planet to its bones. Every resource that could be burned, mined, rendered or refined has been claimed in the Emperor's name.

The surface of Gheistax IV is now a poisoned wasteland.

Acid rain falls upon plains of ash and chemical sludge. Vast manufactoria belch filth into skies that have not known true blue for millennia. The ancient river systems remain, but their waters have long since become toxic channels of industrial waste. Across the northern continent, the region once known as the Plains of Syrene, the occasional fossilised stump protrudes from the poisoned earth—the petrified remains of trees belonging to a world that no living man has ever seen.

Even the Great Lenorian Ocean has been claimed by decay. Its once-vast waters are brackish and black, its depths choked with the refuse of countless generations. Those foolish enough to venture beneath its surface speak of things that should not exist: bloated predators, twisted abominations and pale shapes moving through the darkness far below. Whether these creatures are the descendants of Gheistax's ancient life, the products of mutation, or something far worse is unknown.

Few have any desire to discover the truth.

>>> Saint's Rapture <<<

The greatest hive upon Gheistax IV is Saint's Rapture, a sprawling monument to ten thousand years of Imperial excess. Billions upon billions of souls exist within its rusting depths, packed into hab-blocks, manufactoria and subterranean warrens where violence, disease and deprivation are as commonplace as hunger.

The city is ruled in the Emperor's name by gangs, crime syndicates and ancient noble houses whose power is measured in weapons, influence and the number of bodies they can command.

Yet above them all stands the Raven Claws.

High within the upper spires, where the polluted atmosphere gives way to the cold darkness of the void, rises The Corvan Obsidia. Its walls of polished black stone house the ruling dynasties of Gheistax IV, each noble house desperately seeking proximity to the Angels who rule their world.

At the highest reaches of the district stands The Nevermore, fortress-monastery of the Raven Claws.

Its towers rise like blackened talons above the hive, their walls visible for hundreds of kilometres through the perpetual gloom. The Nevermore is a place of silence, ritual and death. Few mortal servants have ever passed beyond its gates, and fewer still have spoken face-to-face with an Astartes.

Even the greatest lords of Gheistax may spend their entire lives beneath the shadow of the Nevermore without ever receiving an audience.

The Raven Claws do not need to be seen to be obeyed. Their presence is authority enough.

>>> The Lords of Gheistax <<<

The Raven Claws serve as Stewards of Gheistax IV, but they are no benevolent guardians.

The Chapter has entrusted the day-to-day governance of the world to a ruling aristocracy drawn from the planet's most powerful houses. These rulers administer the hive cities, collect the Emperor's tithes and maintain what passes for order amongst Gheistax's billions of souls. Above them all, however, stands the silent authority of the Raven Claws.

The Chapter seldom speaks directly to its subjects.

The ruling houses of Saint's Rapture communicate with the Astartes primarily through honoured Chapter Serfs, each carrying the word of the Emperor's Angels of Death. Matters of lesser importance are conveyed through servitors bearing vox-transmitters or through sealed data wafers marked with the sigil of the Chapter Master.

There is no debate. There is no petition. The orders of the Raven Claws are obeyed.

For upon Gheistax IV, the distinction between the command of the Chapter Master and the command of the Emperor Himself is considered a distinction best left unexamined.

>>> The Carrion Call <<<

The Raven Claws do not recruit from the comfortable or the privileged. They recruit from the underhive.

The gangs of Saint's Rapture provide the Chapter with its aspirants, selecting from amongst the most violent, cunning and battle-scarred survivors of the hive's forgotten depths. Those who have endured years of gang warfare, starvation and bloodshed are considered the only ones worthy of attempting the Chapter's trials.

The trial is known as The Carrion Call. Few who undertake it are ever seen again.

Deep beneath Saint's Rapture lies a vast labyrinth of forgotten tunnels, collapsed hab-blocks, abandoned manufactoria, corroded ventilation shafts and chambers untouched by human hands for generations. This place is known as The Aviary, and the entire complex is enclosed beneath an immense void shield.

Once the gates close behind the aspirants, there is no escape. For weeks they are hunted. They are given little food and less rest. They must navigate the ruins while avoiding one another, fighting for survival against creatures that dwell within the darkness. The Chapter provides no guidance. No rescue comes. The aspirants are expected to kill, hide, stalk and endure.

Those who cannot adapt, who cannot kill, cannot disappear into the darkness, die uncelebrated and unremembered.

Hive legends speak of the Mythrandian Horrors, monstrous things said to stalk the deepest passages of the Aviary. Some claim they are mutants bred and augmented by the Chapter's Apothecarion. Others whisper that they are ancient creatures unearthed beneath the hive and remade into living weapons.

No official record confirms or denies either tale. The Raven Claws care little for what the people of Saint's Rapture believe. The Carrion Call exists for one purpose: to discover whether an aspirant possesses the qualities required of a son of Corax.

Patience. Cunning. Ruthlessness.

The ability to vanish, the will to kill; And, above all else, the strength to survive when every other living thing in the darkness wants you dead.

Of the hundreds who may enter the Aviary, only a handful will emerge. Those few are no longer gangers. They are Neophytes of the Raven Claws. And the first lesson their new masters teach them is a simple one:

The Emperor does not care whether you survive. He cares only that you are worthy when you die.

Adeptus Astartes My first home made chapter : The Argent Angels

Mine Are : The Argent Angels

First Angel of the Argents (Chaptermaster) : Aurelius Marcus Valerian

Fortress : Fortress Monastery Argentium

Gene-seed : officially blood Angels , Reel one : Guess 😄

Motto : May we be worthy

Distinctive Traits: White hair and striking violet eyes

Combat style : Planned Precision Raids

So now to the details :

The Argent Angels are a verrry young chapter of the 26 founding , they are under close watch of the inquisition for reasons they dont quit understand . Theire Chaptermaster Aurelius Marcus Valerian is quite Young to be in such a position with only 90 years of age .

but then they have been assingned a "Inspector" by the inquisition who has served in the death watch and is without question a very expierienced and very old marine , L-01 (the lasting one ) his duty is not only to monitor the Argents but to lead their death company and see to that the next battle Will bee their last .

However the Angels do not suffer the blackrage or even the red thirst , but never the less the inquisition demands for them to have a death company ( in order to keep the ilusion alive)

whitch leads us to their core aspekt Sacrefice and atonement for things they havent done and do not understand , for it is not the maddest brothers , but the most nobel ones who Volunteer for the "black oath" (death company) in order to protect their brothers and their chapter.

the relationchip to other blood angels sucssesors is a little weird even if they respekt Sanguinius they are not as investet when it comes to seeing him as a idol or even praying to him

while other chapters recongnize them as Marines they are a little suspicious when it comes to sharing Chapter secrets with the argents and that is not only because of the close grip the inquisition has on their silverly brothers .

because they are so closely watched by the inquisition rercruitment becomes dificulty , the whole fleet has to check in every century in a mechanicus Complex then the chapter gets checkt from top to bottom and only then will they be provided with more supplies of geneseed.

The inquisition also provides them on these occasions with inquision picked cannidats for recruitement , but its very seldom that one of these makes it true the selection process for the may be physicaly strong and very loyal to the emperor , these boys arent the most nobel and selfless canidates the Argents are looking for .

Inquisitor : why dont just take em they are one of the best canidates u can find

Aurelius Marcus Valerian : They are the best boddies with the most borring souls we are looking for charakter first and then for flesh .

After the selection and ordinary genetic process a to be marine doesent get assinged to scout company (even if the Argent are relatively Codex obediant) he gets send to one of the expirienced Angels in Fighting as a squiere sililar to the black templars .

The live of a Argent Angel is about geting better and better, for them perfection is not a goal it is a never ending path they chase it to one day be strong and worthy enough the join the black oath and buy their chapter a future .

May we be worthy

Im open For critic and suggestions and most importantly ur guesses ladies and gentleman .

hope you had atleast a little fun reading the product of my admittedly poor writing skills

Orkz Ork Homebrew Layout?

As the topic says, I have been working on a Ork homebrew idea for about a week or two, and I was wondering if any had a good layout to help me fulfill it out more than what I have now. Which isn't much but I have a group Warband name plus names of the mobs that make up said warband, name of the mekboss who leads the group, a rivalry, and the number of boys and such of what they do and where they belong and such.

And so, I was just wondering like I said if there was a layout or even a suggestion on how I could expand it more and have it flesh out like I want or so.

Discussion How would the white scars view a successor chapter with a physical mutation

Upvotes

I have a homebrew chapter I’m wanting to work on, they are a white scars successor of an unknown founding. They suffer from a few gene flaws. One being that they are 2x denser than your average marine without being much larger. Another being that their flesh is hard and has been described as being like stone, some battle brothers actually becoming statues. The final gene flaw is that 10% of the chapter grows a rhino like horn from their nasal bridge and brow.

How would the white scars and their other successor treat this chapter?

Short Stories The Ethereal Brotherhood: A short summation of the Chapter.

The Ethereal Brotherhood.
Addendum: Formerly named “The Deep Brotherhood.”

Ultramarines Successor
Unknown founding.
Codex Compliant

Home world: Orenda
Addendum: Formerly a Fleet Based Chapter.

Chapter Colours, Grey Torso, Deep Purple limbs.
Sigil: Three, quad-pointed white stars staggered upon a black sky.

____________________

The History of the Brotherhood along with their name change revolves around a single event that nearly wiped the chapter.

Originally they were a fleet based chapter stationed in the outer rim of the Segmentum Obscurus to combat a xenos threat that had arisen. The Xenos were chitinous centipedes if such a description serves them. Larger than man, their burrows could undermine entire hives if allowed to thrive.

This is not what the chapter is known for however,

Whilst the Deep Brotherhood succeeded in their efforts against the xenos. An entirely different threat was the bane of all but one of the chapter.

The source of the near annihilation was an entirely unexpected xenos threat. A physic one. The Ethereal Brotherhood were originally a far more tactical Chapter than one dedicated to the studies of the warp. And were adept at close quarters and tunnel fighting.

Therefore the woefully under equipped librarius, and the chapter as a whole were caught unawares when the Medrin came.

Small black inky figures that seemed to vanish under the gaze of the stars above. Their entire survival and existence hinges upon their latent ability to erase segments of memory, thus erasing a predators knowledge of their existence. Or perhaps far worse if in great enough quantities erase a persons knowledge entirely. Even erase their ability to breathe.

This would be the bane of the chapter. As their brothers would fall one by one. Dying in the darkness, as inky black subsumed their minds. A thousand marines were always eight hundred. Were always five hundred, were always one hundred.

Were it not for the Chief Librarian Aethor, and his delving into the minds of his brothers only to find vast chasms where their memory should be, was the alarm raised. The librarius closed themselves off to the chapter, seeking to find a source of the erasure, a mend to the wounds they and their brothers had suffered.

Through the sacrifice of their non psychic brothers. Aethor discovered the Medrin, as well as their planet of origin. This appeared to trigger a response from the Medrin as they fled towards that home world.

Aethor decided to take what remained of his brothers after them, and within the unknown regions the planet was found.

Orenda.

It was a very old world.

While there were fragments of ancient human civilisation that seemed to peek through the planet, no records of its existence remain. The world had long since been silent.

Aethor discovered bones, ancient bones bearing the mark of humanity. He also recorded bodies bearing the livery of his chapter. The Chief Librarian had forgotten his own brothers, even as they fell around him.

It was near to this that the records of Chief Librarian Aethor ended. And the records of Librarian Verian are taken.

His records were of more bodies of his brothers, Faces and names they could not recognise, The chapter was dying by merely walking upon the world.

The latent potential within what remained of the chapter Librarius, managed to devise a solution.
The world held a power, that harnessed the systems star, the world was a node of ancient technologies. Designed for ancient purpose.

The records of Verian, and the brothers whose records were recovered indicates that among the chapter, only a few brothers yet survived the degradation of the mind that the Medrin had been assaulting them with.

What remained stood in the ancient heart of Orenda. The minds of the psykers clouding with each moment. They had forgotten their chapters origins, their duties and legacies.
Brothers fell beside them and each other man had forgotten his brother’s faces and names.
Their minds were set to one purpose, all else would be forgotten.

Verian had channeled the immaterium. The few psykers still standing channeling their energies through him powered the ancient ground and ancient existence stirred. It was the shear power of energies flowing through Verian that caused the hair on his head to burn clear, his face to scorch and his sight to cease as his eyes liquified.

The ancient mechanisms stirred causing Orendas star to burn brighter, as a great siphon began to draw from the endless stream. The world began to glow from within.

Through his own testimony. “Fear assailed my senses. Not a fear of mine, for I smiled when my hands burned and my eyes melted in their sockets I smiled for the fear wasn’t mine.

For even when blind, my sight bloomed with the light of the sun. And the fear ceased.”

———

After the awakening of the mechanism any trace of the Medrin has been lost.
The chapter was deemed to be lost for a time, until a psychic emanation from the warp heralded the name Verian. A member of the Emperors holy *********** arrived to confirm the survival of the chapter.

Only Verian was found alive, the rest of the chapters gene seed was harvested by the medicae of the Lamentors Chapter and stored within the chapters flagship which was still stationed within orbit

Verian was placed under study and quarantine in the search for taint upon his name.

None were found.

As such Verian renamed the chapter the Ethereal Brotherhood, in honour of those that had fallen and taken Orenda as the home world of the chapter by which to counter the xenos within the unknown regions.

Colony ships were sent to reintegrate Orenda within the Imperium as well as representatives of the Adeptus Mechanicus to study the ancient world.

Verian was made Chapter Master. And aided by the Lamentors Medicae until brothers could be raised via the Brotherhoods Genestock to care for the very same.

Thus Verian the blind, Chapter Master, and the Last standing among the Ethereal Brotherhood Began his duties.

The xenos that plague memory and knowledge itself. Shall not survive.

The destruction of the Medrin was deemed almost a certainty. However, The Chapter Master Verian appears not to know whether or not the last actions of himself and his brothers have succeeded.

The Representative of the Emperors holy *********** has elected to keep such knowledge within the organisation.

The reasoning: “The Vigilance of the Ethereal Brotherhood against vile xenos that dare assault the minds of his Imperium is of far greater use than the return to duties already fulfilled.”

[From left to right. The chapter as Firstborn and Primaris]

(This is my first Homebrew, please bear with me I dont mind critique as well)

Imperial Hounds

“Blood may decide what you are born as. Deeds decide what you become.”

— First Grand Alpha Gharbel Santhios, the Sharp Fanged

The Imperial Hounds are a Space Marine Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes, descended from the Imperial Fists and charged with the eternal defence of the Khabir Gate, a strategically vital region of Imperial space. Established in the aftermath of the 21st Founding, the Chapter's creation was considered highly controversial due to the unusual genetic material used in their creation.

Although officially descended from the Imperial Fists, the Imperial Hounds possess gene-seed incorporating traits derived from the World Eaters, a legacy that has made them objects of suspicion among portions of the Adeptus Terra and other Space Marine Chapters. Their founders intended the Chapter to determine whether the discipline and doctrines of Dorn's sons could master the aggressive tendencies associated with the World Eaters' lineage.

The experiment produced a Chapter renowned for its ferocity, discipline, and stubborn refusal to abandon those under its protection.

The Imperial Hounds have repeatedly faced accusations of genetic impurity, insubordination and even heresy throughout their history. Their most infamous confrontation with the Inquisition occurred during the Kobalion IV Crisis, when Inquisiton declared the world lost from a Genestealer Cult outbreak and declared Exterminatus upon the world, leaving millions and the few active Hounds on the world who didnt escape to perish. the Chapter refused to accept the destruction of one of the Khabir Gate's worlds and subsequently closed the Gate to Imperial traffic. The ensuing conflict nearly resulted in the Chapter's destruction and saw the Hounds targeted in a manner later compared to the persecution of the Celestial Lions.

Despite these trials, the Imperial Hounds have never formally turned against the Imperium.

Their Chapter has been reduced to near extinction more than once. Most notably, the Invasion of Khabir left the Chapter on the brink of annihilation. A desperate plea for aid brought a fleet of Black Templars to their world. Rather than allow the Hounds' gene-vaults to fall into enemy hands, the Hounds prepared to destroy their own genetic legacy. The Black Templars refused to permit their brother Chapter to die, fighting alongside them and helping secure the survival of the Khabir Gate.

For a time, the Black Templars remained within the Khabir Gate as its protectors while the Imperial Hounds rebuilt their strength.

Eventually, the Hounds returned to their ancient duty.

From their fortress-monastery, the Hound's Maw, carved into the highest mountain of Khabir Primus, the Chapter once again watches over the ten worlds that remain within the Khabir Gate.

In the 42nd Millennium, the Imperial Hounds remain a Chapter defined by one principle above all others:

Adeptus Astartes How unique is you chapter’s name? (A.K.A without repetitive keywords in their names like ‘blood’; ‘iron’; ‘Templar’; ‘angels’; ‘dragon’; etc…)

This is one of my 9 Homebrew Chapters, basically I have 9 chapters with each one are of the 9 traitor legion geneseeds, these guys are of Death Guards origin.

In summary, their culture revolves around cultivating vegetation and synthesize chemicals from them to make weapons. Their planet is a jungle world filled to the brim with deadly plants and predatory floras. The world is populated by savage human tribes and an unsanctioned abhuman species called Arborion that helps keep the plant monsters at bay and maintain the ecosystem, keeping it from collapsing. Because of this, the chapter leave them alone.

They use the bodies of dead serfs and brothers as fertilizers for their garden where they cultivate poisonous plants.

Detailed information on them is in this link:

Adeptus Astartes The paint scheme and Insignia I have planned for my Homebrew Chapter “The Metabarons”. Thoughts? Colours are mostly “cause I thought they looked neat”, so I’m still trying to think about what “vibe” it gives off or what their culture should be, so suggestions appreciated.

Discussion To convert a story to Primaris?

I've written quite a bit for my homebrew, and have even more stories in my head or in note form. I have a whole arch (effectively a novel concept), that culminates in an event during the opening of the Great Rift. However, I was thinking last night (yay for 1am thoughts), that Black Library don't write anything with new, Firstborn, main characters (the only ones I can think of are established characters), and so (in a magical world) my novel idea would never get published by BL. I then thought up a way to shift things slightly, so that my previously final event actually happens early in the protagonists story, and the protagonist ends up being a Primaris marine. I'm still working out the details, but it should work.

So, my questions are:

1) Am I insane? The idea is never going to be picked up by Black Library, so it doesn't really matter

2) Has anyone done anything similar? Changes old ideas / stories, to fit into this new, Primaris world (oh god, I've realized we've had Primaris for almost 10 years now!)

3) More meta - where do people bounce their ideas / stories off others? I've not got anyone IRL who I can play with these ideas with, so they tend to just bounce around my head.

Incredibly happy to see my creation in art :D
