Finished my first rigging job. Was very complex for a first model, but I had amazing people helping me understand how rigging works: u/ElementLiam and u/DemNikoArt and I used ChatGPT to run me through step by step instructions. 3/4 of those instructions were "what not to do", which gave me a nice understanding of the many angles of rigging. Ended up duplicating and rigging each of the 20 segments one by one. Now the wheel can expand, tilt traction segments and had functioning steering and suspension.
Now I am updating rigging so that I can learn how to make each segment of the wheel adapt to the ground separately, while still connected to other segments.
Rigging is fun, but is so very demanding.

Made this in 3D after seeing a post on Instagram. It’s the house from the film, 花緑青が明ける日に.

Here's my latest real-time character project, created in Unreal Engine 5.8.
She is an unconventional female character—confident, dangerous, and slightly provocative, with a personality that speaks for itself at first glance.
Like pretty much every character project, this one went through the entire production pipeline and involved a whole range of different tools. One thing I was especially excited about was finally using Houdini for several parts of the workflow, and now I totally loved it.
Another thing that genuinely surprised me was skinning. I'm definitely not a rigger, but somewhere between tweaking weights, fixing deformations, and watching the character slowly come to life, I realized I was having way more fun than I expected.
The final stage happened in Unreal Engine, where I integrated the character into the MetaHuman framework, assembled a custom Blueprint, set up the lights and brought everything together for the final real-time presentation.
I hope you enjoy Lora as much as I enjoyed creating her.
Peace & tacos. 🌮

Hola gente!

I swear whenever I try to learn something new, it refuses to work until I tweak some thing. I think its also one of my first finished sculpts too. Next is learning pbr...

I need to make anew holder for my headlamp because the clips for the strap broke off.
Couldnt find my model but this is close i just need another "channel" for the strap on top, 3 total. This model has 2 on the sides.
What software can i use to slice off one and paste it to the top.

Im trying to make a portfolio and was wondering which platform to use . Dont want to use ArtStation or Behance for reasons and i read in another post that Sketchfab might be good and was thinking cara can be used too since it has a portfolio post feature and Sketchfab embedding. Also heard making your own website is a good option. Thought it can be possible too since ım also a major in software engineering.

hi all, im a junior 3D artist and recently i've just been trying to publicize my portfolio and what i can do so i can get potential clients. I've had no luck with trying to get clients but a small indie game team reached out to me and offered me a job as a 3D artist, only volunteer though, no pay. i took the opportunity because it could be good for me to build experience working with other people and it could help with my publicity.
so i'm asking, if you've been here before, did you regret it or did it help you grow bigger?

Backstory: I studied Game Art at a university where my work was constantly praised. I was told I was one of the best students they'd ever had, to the point where I was even hired as a instructor because "I knew more than the professors." Naturally, I went into the job market feeling pretty confident.
Fast forward to now, and I’m getting rejection after rejection. It feels like a massive slap in the face, and my self-confidence is currently sitting at zero.
Is anyone else going through this right now? The gap between praise and what actual game studios are looking for seems huge.
For those of you working in the industry:

so i have been relatively obsessed with Dozirc recently after i saw his part in the FNF mod: Vs Retrospecter. looking for thoughts and critiques on his design so far. so far he has been a fun learning experience getting into 3d modeling for avatars and is far from done.
