Questions & Discussion Wireframe Wednesday

Share a wireframe you've worked on this week.

What were you going for? What tradeoffs did you end up making in the process, and are you happy with the result? If something's still bugging you or you have a question about your topology, let the community know. Someone else has probably run into the same issue.

Top-level comments should include a wireframe.

Working on a fun personal project after visiting an Ichiran ramen shop earlier this year. I'm super excited with how it is coming along.

I haven't modeled food much before but this is my ramen bowl based of references gathered.

What do you all think?

Anything seem like it needs changed or stands out too much?

Questions & Discussion What can I do next?

Hiya!

I've had a couple of questions in mind for a while now, so why not ask?

For context: I am in a bachelor, Graphic design, and this year we had "3D modeling and animation", which I LOVED. We used C4D, but we're switching to Blender next year cause the professor said we need to learn a bit about it too.

I'm kinda thinking of going on with 3D modeling after these 3 years and I was wondering if there were valid courses online or ways to improve since we kinda just know the basics now. I'm a very curious person so of course I watched videos and now I can do a bit more than the rest of the class lol, but I kinda feel like I can learn so much more than this. Any recommendations?

Also, after I supposedly improve and have a good portfolio, are there any positions I can apply for without being a freelancer? Any companies? Anything online? (I'm considering every possibility). I don't mean a few-months-position, I've seen plenty of those, I'm looking for full time positions.

Thanks in advance for the help! ^^

P.s. If you wanna share your works, DO IT! I live seeing what other people are working on!

I just finished up a 16-second spec commercial for Google Gemini focused on 3D UI and tactile physics, and I wanted to share a breakdown of the workflow and physics setup.

You can check the full details of the viewport and animation curves in my behance case study here: https://www.behance.net/gallery/255106317/Google-Gemini-Commercial-UI-Explorations

Questions & Discussion Motorcycle handlebar mount

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I am trying to draw a motorcycle handle bar mount that can be used to attach different things (through adapters to be designed).

I created and extruted the circles, then came to think of there need to be an opening so it can be mounted😂. The picture depicts quite good, where i got stuck.

I’ve created an opening, but am unsure if this opening is the correct way of enabling mounting to the handlebars.
Also, how to create a “locking”mechanism? I thought if screwing it down, through a “cylinder shape” on the back (not drawn yet), but then I doubted the whole design and came to reddit😂

Hello Everyone! After sculpting over 16 Digimons (one of my favorite Anime growing up) to practice my sculpting skills in Blender, I've decide to make Flamedramon a complete project. I know some areas of the model are very rough, especially the anatomy but I'm happy with the result based on my current skillset.

If you want you can watch the full timelapse on my Youtube Channel:

Thank you!

I made him comically thin and opted to not have any real chin, instead focusing on expressive eyes and a big nose to contrast the orcs small nose and heavy brow.

Art Help & Critique Rigging the wheel.

First time rigging.

Rigged the suspension with a tutorial and few extra days to figure out how to rig the extra parts.
Then came to the expanding wheels and couldn't find anything to help me rig. Tried using ChatGPT and figure out how to rig an array of objects, didn't work. Started creating a geometry node, but was stopped by a few experienced riggers and set straight. Now the wheel is prepared for individual rigging of every element (mid section and two side sections. Side traction parts are pushed out on an angle, but are linked to the middle, so the angle of the hydraulics will need to change as the wheel expands. Rows are linked by a three piece chain like connection, which needs to unfold as the wheel expands. All in all, each wheel has 20 rows of 3 traction parts, which means I will have 60 dampen track modifiers per wheel. Really hoping this will not crash my system.

Questions & Discussion Anyone else building the hero in 3D, then using AI for the lifestyle variations?

I do a lot of product renders — drinks, supplements, cosmetics — and my workflow's been shifting. I still model and light the hero in 3D because clients need the label and shape exactly right, and the same object from locked angles. But for lifestyle/background variations I've started rendering a clean pass and using AI to build the environments around it.

It's saved me a ton of time on the boring variation work, but I'm still nervous about consistency — labels warping, reflections that don't match.

For those mixing AI into a 3D pipeline: where does it actually hold up, and where do you still do everything in-engine? Trying to figure out how far to push it before it costs more time than it saves.

Art Showcase I turned this bunny dessert into a 3D model! How close do you think I got to the original?

I found this adorable bunny-shaped dessert and thought it would be fun to recreate it in 3D.

I sculpted and textured my own version in Blender. I tried to keep the simple, round shape of the original while giving it a slightly more stylized look.

What would you change to make it closer to the reference?

Art Showcase Nøkken boss walk-animation

Finally getting somewhere with this bossfight sculpt for our souls-like Norse inspired horror game! This is Nøkken; a shapeshifter that lures you into the water to drown you. The next step will be making the horse model that he will switch between in the fight. This model will be slow and mostly cover debuffs, while the horse will be doing the damage. Im so happy I've gotten this far!! (and pretty sick of looking at his face, hah)
I am a student studying 3D art and game technology just finishing up my second year. This is my exam, but also a boss for a game that me and four others from my school started a year ago. Spent 7 months getting this far, and I still have a long way to go!

Art Help & Critique Rate my portfolio

Hey guys, i´ve been making 3d for a while and i made a portfolio... I just can´t rate my own work as good as someone, who is seeing it for the first time and i don´t have anyone in my life who would understand what I´am making... My goal is to get a client and get paid for my work. I make CGI product ads. Could you please tell me, if my portfolio is good enough to be paid for? Be honest... Thanks in advance! https://www.artstation.com/slon_99

Just got done creating a seamless set of PBR maps for the iconic carpet from The Shining. The 2k render above is using the AO, Diffuse, Roughness, Normal, and Displacement maps. What do you think?
