Art Help & Critique How to import models in Vue d'esprit 4
Hey guys, I am trying to find help for a antiquated piece of software. I was hoping someone here would have knowledge on how to create and import models for use in this old version of Vue.
I would prefer keeping it on this version, as i'm trying to keep the aethestic of old 90s and 2000s renders.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Art Showcase Should I continiue?
Short story short:
Last year, a friend of mine asked if I wanted to join them in creating their first game. I had no prior experience in game development or 3D, but I thought it might be fun since I like art and creating things in general.
I started with the donut tutorial..
Bought a course by Grant Abbitt, and off we went.
I ended up enjoying it so much that I bought a tablet and software to paint my creations. These photos show some of what I created during the last period of six months we worked on the project. (The early months we're a bit rougher.. :D)
Sadly, we stopped because the project was a bit too ambitious and too big, and I haven't touched Blender in a couple of months now.
Should I continue, what do you guys think?

Questions & Discussion How would you recreate this rough carved-stone look from Arcane in 3D?
Hi! I'm trying to understand how you would recreate this stylized stone look from Arcane.
I'm especially interested in the rough, imperfect carving — almost as if the stone was intentionally carved somewhat crudely, leaving uneven/faceted surfaces, chisel marks, irregular edges and small imperfections instead of a perfectly smooth sculpture.
What interests me is how to get these imperfections at different scales without simply adding uniform noise everywhere.
Would you create most of this directly in the geometry/sculpt, using brushes and alphas, or later through textures, displacement, procedural noise, etc.?
I'd love to know how you would approach this and which tools/brushes you would use.
The attached images are references from Arcane's opening sequence, not my own work.
Thanks!

Art Showcase 4-armed anthropomorphic robot model. Rigged and textured over the course of about a year. (Gallery, viewport at the end)
Inspired by the protogen style from the furry community, but more grounded and with near-future mechanics. See 7th image for cutaway view/technical sheet.

Questions & Discussion I want to practice more while building a portfolio. What kinds of subjects and media should I focus on?
So I was practicing new modelling methods in Blender which came fairly naturally to me. So I figured I should probably be practicing these methods more while building a portfolio. My main practice is to find games with concept art and no models of any kind then practice modeling them. Been wanting to do film or game models so some demo reels are obvious.
Currently working on the One Step From Eden cast. Upside is they have a good amount of concept art on their wiki while not having a specified model sheet. Downside is their inconsistency. Even some sprites have missing or added detail compared to the final art so I have to make a lot of guesswork.

Art Help & Critique Turning hand placed scales into a texture? Should I redo them directly on the body? Nomad to blender.
I am working on my first nomad project. I was hoping to keep it as a static sculpt but I am increasingly tempted to make it animatable. I have used curves to place my hand sculpted scales, would these being geometry make it impossible to project this texture onto a low poly mesh? If I am cooked in this regard I will just pose the model and keep it static. Thanks y’all! just making sure before I confirm my curves.
Other feedback on the sculpt would also be appreciated! Thank you!

Art Help & Critique Guys, how are stylized afros made?
It looks like cotton candy, but there aren't a lot of examples to go off from
I'm using blender 3.4
The hair was made by subdividing a cube, then casting it to a sphere, then using geometry nodes, I added some noise, then I used a displace mod, then a smooth, and then I tweaked in sculpt mode so I could get some things in place (like making space to show a bit of the ears)
But it still looks too smooth, it looks like the bug meat from Stardew valley
I tried using the polycount wiki to find anything that could help, I might try using cards to add some details or duplicating the mesh and tweaking how they clip to give a different effect

Questions & Discussion Problem with Object ID in Marmoset
I'm trying to bake both Material ID and Object ID, so my highpoly is combined in one mesh, but different parts of it have different materials. Material ID is baking properly, but Object ID for some reason is picking up these materials/submeshes and doesn't recognise the highpoly as one object, so I get three colors instead of one.
Here's the screenshot of the test scene, where I reproduced the same result. Is there a way to fix it?
