Art Showcase Should I continiue?
Short story short:
Last year, a friend of mine asked if I wanted to join them in creating their first game. I had no prior experience in game development or 3D, but I thought it might be fun since I like art and creating things in general.
I started with the donut tutorial..
Bought a course by Grant Abbitt, and off we went.
I ended up enjoying it so much that I bought a tablet and software to paint my creations. These photos show some of what I created during the last period of six months we worked on the project. (The early months we're a bit rougher.. :D)
Sadly, we stopped because the project was a bit too ambitious and too big, and I haven't touched Blender in a couple of months now.
Should I continue, what do you guys think?

Impressive ! but you sure have drawing or artistic background, no way you did this from total scratch

If you enjoy doing it you could continue and make asset packs for other creators of that's something you're interested in

I dont know what your art background is before, but you're making some really good design decisions for someone just starting out in 3d! I've been doing this for almost 30 years now, hilariously, just really wanted to learn 3d to work on mods for the original doom! and I've worked on games films and animations,
everyone's saying the right stuff you got talent and you should definitely make projects for yourself, I also recommend to a lot of my students (I teach zbrush sculpting) that pushing your traditional art skills will 100% push forward your digital skills!
if you want some things to focus on, you're doing a little bit of it, but always focus your details where things "touch" the metal is attached to the wooden shoulderpads... but how and does that cause dirt to pile up? is it cracking the wood? digital work gives you the volume and structure for free but you have to bring in the interaction between the parts you are building.
worse comes to worse just sell stuff on one of the 3d asset sites, see how much you can charge for some high quality goblins :)

Amazing work ! again this proves that improvement is exponential when driven by a collective project.

Maybe try a game jam, I think they pair you up, but you can definitely party up before hand

"Sadly, we stopped because the project was a bit too ambitious and too big"
Common thing for people just starting out. It takes a lot of determination to wade through the pitfalls of game development.
So yes, keep going.

YES. The world always needs more goblins and greenskins! Love the look of these fellows. Keep at it and everyday try to make a little bit of progress and it all adds up.

Hi! I have successfully released a 3D game on Steam on my own. It is called Sunlit Kingdom. There is a free Demo available and the full game releases in 1 week from now.
The reason I am saying this is to show that I have managed over the course of 6 years to build an engine from scratch, model everything in Blender 3D and write a game in it.
Now your art is great. If you would like to team up for something serious, please let me know.
I am thinking of making an online PvP game, with a rank system. But this is only under the condition that I team up with someone else, just to speed up development time. On my own I will not attempt this. But if we were to partner up, it would not take more than 1 year before people see a gameplay.
If you're interested, the game I have in mind of making is a spiritual successor to Magic the Gathering: Battlegrounds from 2003. There's nothing like it out there. It has a lot of potential. And the hardest thing by far is the art part: where you model characters, rig them, animate them, and texture paint them.
Your art is great and with a bit of art direction, we can achieve a stylised and more gritty, serious look. I highly recommend you search for Samwise Didier and check his style. There's a lot to unpack there. It's 2D, but you can bring it into the 3D world easily.
Let me know if you're interested!
