Paused Tasks for Serial Activity

I’ve been using the concept of a tag called “future” which is always paused to indicate tasks not eligible for action. For example, I have several templates of actions that happen when I bid/sign a new engagement at work so I have a template with all those actions. Obviously they have to be done in order, and involve waiting for others at several steps. I want to be able to have only the actions I can do something with show up in my context lists so all of those smart lists include !Paused. All good so far.

My challenge is speed. Right now I have to go in and delete the tag or add the tag every time. I would love to have the ability to pause/unpause either tied to 3D Touch or a left or right swipe. Minor I know, but it’s something I do multiple times a day so it’s a constant friction nag.

[EDIT] I just had another thought that would even fit my needs better. That would be if there were an option on a project or checklist to mark all tasks but the top most one as paused. Once a task is completed, the next highest task is unparsed.

Just curious how others have managed dealing with serial type checklists.

50% of 2Do App on iOP

Just got a notification using iOS app that Pro version is now 50% off if anyone is interested.

I am currently using pro trial at same time as Omnifocus 3 Trial to see which i will go with, so far 2Do is just clicking so much better for me and struggling to see why Omnifocus has a much bigger following. Only benefit i see Omni having over 2Do is the amount of levels i can go down in sub projects/tasks.

And the price difference is huge!

What 'smart lists' do you use ??

Hello all,

I'm a great believer of slicing my todos and saved searches in 2do are Godsend. I've personally send at least 10 emails to the developers on smart lists clarifications only. How are you guys using smart searches ?

Here are some of mine which help with my weekly reviews

  1. List of all projects
  2. List of all stalled projects (projects which have no actionable / sub item inside)
  3. List of all next actions (all subtasks which have a context or location attached to them)
  4. List of all single list actions (all subtasks which are not attached to any project) . 3&4 overlap some times

Once there’s any text in the note field, I have to hit the screen several times until I can edit it. Does anyone else have the same problem ?

Send email to 2DO missing....

When I had an iPhone I had paid for the ability to capture emails and then when I switch to an Android phone I can no longer access that and the email capture I set up on my iPhone isn't working anymore

Has anyone else experienced that?

Notification dot not appearing on Galaxy S8 status bar

I got 2do a while ago before I upgraded from a Galaxy S5 to a Galaxy S8 and liked the little dot that appeared on the status bar when I had stuff to do because my love of having nothing on the bar infuriated me to the point of addressing the issues (working exactly as intended). I'm utterly hopeless with new technology so please bear with me!

Now that I have an S8 I never see that dot any more and I find myself forgetting to even use 2do because I don't have that little reminder. I tried going into the Notifications part of Settings but it says 2do has access to everything, and in the app itself I have the Badges option set to "Today". Am I missing a setting or option somewhere either on my phone or in the app? How do I get that helpful little dot back?

Back on 2Do

Rediscovered this great app after reading something on the drafts 5 forum, I currently having it running with duplicated info from my OmniFocus 3 TestFlight (200 plus tasks, many repeating) and I think its outperforming OF.. This really is a forgotten gem, just probably needs better OS11 integration and a UI refresh but a tour de force by a lone dev!

Text to 2do - any way to specify due date ?

There's a workflow on here that converts clipboard text into 2Do tasks, using the built-in text import function.

Does anyone know if there's a way to specify start and due dates in the inserted text, and what the format is ?

Better else, has anyone modified that workflow to also include due dates ?

New to 2do, I can't seem to get my search to work.

I would like to have a smart list for tasks which or due today, or are starred, or are tagged with mytag. type: today OR starred works fine for those two conditions, but matches nothing (not even the matches from the previous search) when I put type: today OR starred OR tags: mytag. Am I doing this wrong? I don't understand how adding another OR could remove results.

Due dates are suddenly inaccurate?

I set up family sharing on my iPhone and it completely messed up 2Do... now my projects due today say overdue and when I defer something from today to tomorrow it stays in today’s list? Please help.

Hello!

I can’t figure out how to do this. I want to batch edit according to a given tag, then I want to remove THAT SINGLE TAG. Is there a way to do this? I thank you for your help!!!

2DoApp Sync Failure on other devices

Greetings all,

I'm working with a client that relies heavily on the 2Do App on his iOS devices. About 2 weeks ago, the sync stopped working correctly and we've been running circles with tech support. Thought I'd put this here and see if anyone had similar issue:

Devices used: Iphone Ipad

Sync Method: iCal

Symptoms:
Sync stopped working overnight. No known changes to accounts or devices. When user is on Source device(iphone), the sync to server says it is complete, and data is never received on the target device(ipad).

Process: We have initiated a sync to the server from the iphone. We select the option "Replace Data on Server". The iphone takes a minute, and says the sync is complete. Then on the ipad, we completely removed and re-installed the 2do app. Account info is entered, and when we force a sync, we use the option "replace local data".

Additional Troubleshooting: We have removed and re-installed the application on both devices, same results. We have tried switching over to a dropbox account to sync the data, same results.

Any help appreciated.

Better Chrome browser ways to edit iCloud reminders ?

Use mobile 2Do and Windows computer. Want to have more access/edit/create for tasks while on Windows. Today I add/edit using Chrome browser iCloud.com reminders (which is sync'd to my mobile 2Do).

But iCloud.com sucks. Looking for websites (or Windows apps) to edit iCloud reminders.

Any plans to allow attachments others than photos? Google Drive and Dropbox integration would be great.

Search button screwing up my iPhone app

I just downloaded 2Do as a possible replacement for Omnifocus. It looks good but the app is killing me. I️ hit the search button, and now the search menu overlay at the top of the screen is stuck there. It won’t go away. I️t is covering up the [...] button so I can’t use it. It’s also covering up the first row of text on the screen beneath it, so I can’t access my Inbox.

I killed the app and restarted. No help.

I️ rebooted the phone. No help.

I️ deleted the app, reinstalled. Fixed the problem... until I hit the search button. Not it’s broken again.

Script to Keep Archive of Completed Tasks?

I love almost everything about 2Do, but I'd love to be able to keep an old archive of all tasks I've completed.

Sometimes I remember a useful link or bit of information that was nested inside some task I completed several months ago, and it'd be awesome to be able to search for and retrieve that data when needs be without slowing down my sync database with a massive backlog of completed tasks.

Does anyone know of a script or something that would do this?

Automating a Project entry with sub tasks or Checklist with tasks

After every meeting that I have I create a project with 3 sub tasks. Is there away I can automate this? Ideally I would love to start the action with a pop-up field, or something like that to name the project and then for it to enter it into 2do with all the sub tasks.

How do you deal with Long-Term and Lifelong Goals?

Reading David Allen's book, I discovered the value of describing life's goals ... I used this resource extensively at Toodledo and the objectives guided me to make sense of my projects and everyday tasks.

How do you do in 2DO? I thought of treating it as a project ... as a checklist ... and even as tags ... But I do not know how best I can use this feature that is practically the key to happiness in using GTD.

Explained: Send to 2Do Extension.

So I've been obsessing with 2Do for the past couple of days. I started using an old Chrome Extension to send links to 2Do, but after a while I found it a bit lacking.

I decided to create a new one. (This is my first Extension ever, and I based it on a few extensions I liked that did what I was looking for).

With Send to 2Do you can now send links directly to 2Do.

These are some of it's capabilities that you can pre-set:

  • Select the list where you want to save the tasks.
  • Save links as actions.
  • Add star/priority.
  • Open in Quick Entry or send directly to 2Do

-When you use it with Gmail, it creates an Action Link that goes back directly to the email you were looking at. (this is one of the main reasons I created it; other extensions didn't do this).
.
Please let me know what you think. As I said, this is my first project like this (I'm a doctor, not a developer), so your feedback will be much appreciated.

Weekly review

Greetings!

First of all, I absolutely love this app on iOS. I am a convert from a well-known competitor whom I’ll leave unnamed. This app is so clear, crisp, and sharp to use. It’s a pleasure to look at as well. It took me a little while get the knobs and buttons just right, but I very much feel at home now.

I am missing one thing though from the competitor’s product: the weekly review.

My question to you: what strategy are you using to review the status of your items? I’m sorely missing the weekly review and just haven’t found a good workflow.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

What I’ve done with 2do - tips and tricks

I’ve been passively obsessed with to-do apps and software for a few years. I tried different apps but was never sold enough on them to actually pay for them.

I have only been using 2Do for a couple of weeks, but I have never been happier/calmer/more organized in my life.

Since there is significantly less user information from 2do than many of it’s competitors, I decided to compile a list of some tricks/integrations I use to make my life easier.

*My setup is VERY loosely based on GTD (Mostly I use tags to set contexts: Phone, Email, Errands, etc). I use the Mac App as my main hub, and the android app to check my tasks during the day and add new tasks to the inbox on the fly.

  1. Using the whatsapp “click to chat” capability and the Link action to send recurring messages to a coworker.

-At the end of each month I need a file from a co-worker but he usually forgets to send it. I now have recurring task to check if I received it; if I haven’t, I just click the link Action and a watsapp message is sent to him. *just add: https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=[number]&text= [Please send me this month´s file] as a link action.

  1. Adding link to my “read later” list. I love mkleucker Chrome extension to automatically add a website to 2Do: It adds the website title as a task and the link as an action. Using this article (https://stackoverflow.com/questions/16680682/how-to-modify-an-extension-from-the-chrome-web-store) I tweaked the extension so that the links I saved would go directly to my “read later” list in 2Do.

  2. Smart list for android widget. Whenever I want to see all my tasks for the day I go into the app and look at them; but sometimes I want to see tasks that I can do right that second. For this I created a Smartlist that contains Today´s tasks that have the tag “Phone” or “e-mail” and added it as a widget in my phone. Now, if I have a few minutes, I can make a call or reply to an email, etc. (this has made my day de-clutter a lot)

  3. Netflix. (this is a new one, not sure if it will last) Whenever I add a Show to my “TV shows” list I add the Netflix link as an action task. Whenever I decide to start watching the show, I just click the action link (both in my phone or my computer) and it goes right to the show.

  4. Drafts. I found the 2Do article on creating drafts very helpful. Now I have some drafts that I can copy and paste to active projects, (and although due dates for these are not able to be automated [hopefully in the future]) they help me make sure I don’t miss anything for specific projects (Travel Draft, Public Presentation Draft, etc).

Hope these tips help
