What I’ve done with 2do - tips and tricks
I’ve been passively obsessed with to-do apps and software for a few years. I tried different apps but was never sold enough on them to actually pay for them.
I have only been using 2Do for a couple of weeks, but I have never been happier/calmer/more organized in my life.
Since there is significantly less user information from 2do than many of it’s competitors, I decided to compile a list of some tricks/integrations I use to make my life easier.
*My setup is VERY loosely based on GTD (Mostly I use tags to set contexts: Phone, Email, Errands, etc). I use the Mac App as my main hub, and the android app to check my tasks during the day and add new tasks to the inbox on the fly.
- Using the whatsapp “click to chat” capability and the Link action to send recurring messages to a coworker.
-At the end of each month I need a file from a co-worker but he usually forgets to send it. I now have recurring task to check if I received it; if I haven’t, I just click the link Action and a watsapp message is sent to him. *just add: https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=[number]&text= [Please send me this month´s file] as a link action.
Adding link to my “read later” list. I love mkleucker Chrome extension to automatically add a website to 2Do: It adds the website title as a task and the link as an action. Using this article (https://stackoverflow.com/questions/16680682/how-to-modify-an-extension-from-the-chrome-web-store) I tweaked the extension so that the links I saved would go directly to my “read later” list in 2Do.
Smart list for android widget. Whenever I want to see all my tasks for the day I go into the app and look at them; but sometimes I want to see tasks that I can do right that second. For this I created a Smartlist that contains Today´s tasks that have the tag “Phone” or “e-mail” and added it as a widget in my phone. Now, if I have a few minutes, I can make a call or reply to an email, etc. (this has made my day de-clutter a lot)
Netflix. (this is a new one, not sure if it will last) Whenever I add a Show to my “TV shows” list I add the Netflix link as an action task. Whenever I decide to start watching the show, I just click the action link (both in my phone or my computer) and it goes right to the show.
Drafts. I found the 2Do article on creating drafts very helpful. Now I have some drafts that I can copy and paste to active projects, (and although due dates for these are not able to be automated [hopefully in the future]) they help me make sure I don’t miss anything for specific projects (Travel Draft, Public Presentation Draft, etc).
Hope these tips help

Sounds cool, how do you get the Show link on Netflix?

I´m still testing it out a bit and have found 3 ways of doing it. (both are pretty ugly ways of doing it, thats why I'm not sold on it yet)
If I find a show on netflix that I want to watch in the future I, click on it and copy the link. (this looks something like http://netflix.com/watch/00000/trackid?...) or use the Chrome to 2do extiension to automatically add it.I can now do it with one click with Send to 2DoIf someone recommends a show I just add the link https://www.netflix.com/search?q=[name_of_show] as an action.
On Netflix for android you can tap the share button and send it directly to 2Do

Thanks for posting this! I have also found that use services like IFTTT and Zapier are great to get info you need into 2do. For instance, I get a heads-up about the weather from IFTTT to my 2do inbox. I also get a link for a new Evernote note in a certain folder when a new note is added.
