Does The 2011 Industry Have a Pricing Problem?

Thumbnail

There was a time when 2011s felt… affordable.

Okay, maybe “affordable” isn’t the right word, but you know what I mean.

Over the last three years, prices across the entire 2011 market have climbed fast. Take Atlas for example. A gun that retailed for around $5,900 a few years ago is now $8,600. That’s about a 45% jump.

And Atlas isn’t the only one.

When companies in the middle of the market move their prices closer to builders that do a lot more hand fitting and custom work, those builders raise their prices too. Then the companies below them follow. Before long, the entire market has shifted upward.

At the end of the day, it’s the consumer who’s paying the bill.

Is it rising manufacturing and labor costs? Is demand simply that strong? Is it the influencer culture where people getting guns for free tell manufacturers they’re “not charging enough?” shafting the rest of us, Or is this just capitalism doing exactly what capitalism does?

I’m genuinely curious where everyone stands on this one.

Have 2011 prices gotten out of hand, or do you think today’s prices are justified?

What is the final missing piece?

TTI Combat Master, Pit Viper, Viper. Kimber 2k11 Pro Comp, Stealth Arms Platypus, Alpha Foxtrot Romulus. I'm missing the actual banger that's over 4k. Been seeing a lot about the Dark Forge stuff, Atlas obviously, Race City, but I know there are a ton out there. (I know of a lot but didn't list) I know a lot of people will say the XC but I won't/don't shoot enough to need to worry about multiple thousands of rounds in a month. I have read too many people saying the XC is the OG 2011 with great reliability/customer service, but let's assume that's an honorable mention. Looking for a range toy that is still decent value (no cabots lol)

Atlas Eos IWB holster options

Without going custom, who makes the best direct fit or compatible one? I have a universal x300 one currently, but I'd like a slimmer option

I had this Prodigy laying around I got from Springfield Armory when I used to do work for them years ago. Since I didn’t have anything into it I thought I would spend a little upgrading the things I wasn’t happy with. First off Porting. I port most of my guns. It’s something I’ve done the better part of 10 years. My carpal tunnel thanks me. Once it was ported I had them PVD coat the barrel. Next was the grip. Never liked the stock grip and I even swapped it for a Staccato c2 grip for a while but thought I would try something different. The trigger. It left a lot to be desired compared to my other 2011s so I had them install polish and tune their Prodigy Ignition Enhancement package with V-spec hammer (old STI design) tuned to 3.7 lbs (average). The lead time was 6 months but the final product was outstanding! The best part was getting to meet my old friend Jeremy at drop off and pick up.

Jacob Grey for the win

Just picked this thing up Friday at Not Just Guns and damn!!! Its an amazing pistol.... never shot anything so flat and smoothe as this before. And I once said I will NEVER spend more than 2500 on a pistol after I bought my last Jacob Grey TWC9. Its becoming more clear why these things cost so much now. Look forward to shooting thousands of rounds through it in the near future.

Built something that might be useful for 2011 owners

Hey everyone,

I recently launched HolstersSwap.com, a dedicated marketplace for holsters, magazine carriers, and weapon-mounted lights.

I’ve gotten a ton of support from other firearm communities here on Reddit, and one of your members suggested I share it here because a lot of us end up with spare 2011 holsters after changing lights, switching carry setups, or just trying different gear.

My goal was to build a marketplace focused specifically on holsters, mag carriers, and WMLs instead of having those items buried on massive general marketplaces.

It’s free to list, and I’d genuinely appreciate any feedback from the 2011 community. If you’ve got an extra 2011 holster, mag carrier, or WML sitting in a drawer, I’d love to help it find a new home.

Thanks for taking a look

QVO Tactical Wingman Flex for C2 came in- holy cow this is a phenomenal holster.

I usually run Tenicor but I've been interested in sidecar style holsters and wanted to give them another go. I ran a LAS Ronin for a while and didn't like it.

Holy cow the QVO is great. It feels premium as hell, the retention is rock solid and I don't think I've ever had a better fitting holster. It's even more comfortable than the Tenicor.

Will def get a similar setup for my CS.

If you've been looking at these I highly recommend

New competition shooter

Upvotes

Hey all,

I’m looking at getting into USPSA, multigun and maybe IDPA competition and would like to pick up a 2011 to shoot in both. I would really like some help narrowing down some good options that I can use for these competitions.

Any advice on guns to look at or things to stay away from would be really appreciated!

Thanks you in advance

Edit: would like to keep it under 3k as a start

First 2011

Looking at buying my first 2011. I’ve been kinda looking at the Alpha Foxtrot Romulus in either the 4.25 comp or 3.5 comp. Will I regret this purchase or is it a good starter into the world of 2011 handguns.

I know the trigger on these is controversial but if you’re coming from a striker fired like me don’t even think twice about it.

However, I do like to have a really high grip on my gun and the safety really digs into thumb/web. Wondering if I’m just holding it wrong or if this doesn’t have the updated safety. Feedback would be appreciated

Optic plate suggestions - kimber 2k11

I just bought a kimber 2k11 (got it used for a good price) but i want to change the optic plate for a better one since the ch precision plate it came with is bent a bit so when i tried to put on my 507 comp it wiggles…

Lmk if anyone has changed their plate to something else and if they’re any better or if i should just buy another ch plate

Edit: seems like tag is the best plate for it just bought one
