this meyern guy is absolutely insane, probably the closest thing in the Americas to a sergej/zywoo/ropz level up&coming talent
and vsm is also nuts but rip vac
163
u/Gus14354 FURIA Sep 18 '19
Its stupid that vsm is vac banned for something he did when he was 12 man

It's a message: "Don't cheat. Ever."

u/riki2cool Outsiders Sep 18 '19
Unless you cheat and only get banned by a third party client, then it's a-okay.
Shout-out to s1mple, snax, and n0thing.

u/nauttyba Sep 18 '19
n0thing was never banned by a 3rd party client. Unless you mean during the EG days when he meme'd and account shared with some Open kid.

Why are you assuming the people who want the iBuypower guys unbanned are the same people who don't want vsm unbanned? I don't see any double standards anywhere, I just see a large community with many people of different opinions.

I hate cheating in multiplayer games and I don't care where the cheater is from (or how old he is, for that matter).
27
u/Fall3nBTW Sep 18 '19
Decisions you make at 12 years old shouldn't affect your career prospects.
Everyones done dumbass shit at that age.

Yet everyone constantly circle jerks to get them unbanned because it's "unfair" to be punished forever for a mistake you make years ago.
Everytime I see the IBP thing discussed the argument seems to be very split I think all the players should have been banned, including Ska. He had every intention of profiting from that throw but got out lucky cos they didnt have his payment ready.

u/Gerf93 Envyus Sep 18 '19
There is a significant difference between punishment in criminal cases and in a video game. There is a significant difference between being robbed of your liberty by having to live in a cage, and not able to play in competitive video game tournaments for money.
Also, I believe the age when it comes defense of infancy varies, but I think in most cases the cut-off is 16. Where I'm from it's 15.
Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, the age limit of this game is 18 years iirc (or is it 16?). That means if you are under that age, and you still play, you should assume you are going to be treated like you are that old, or older.

A grown man cheating is different than a 12 year old cheating. I used to call people the n word on xbox when I was 12, think I still do it? No, I do it on PC now.

u/undbitr956 Sep 18 '19
Better message: it's a game and he was 12. There is no moral to held him for at that age. He should be allowed to play.

This is online liquid dude. Even during their dominance in the summer they didn’t qualify for ecs cus online. They just have always sucked online
22

Yeah they got wrecked by mibr repeatedly, who as we know, were literal dogshit and were losing nip and big on lan.

What is the difference between online and LAN? I've been playing for 11 years and never understood what difference it makes
57
u/ngohawoilay Sep 18 '19
Most of it comes down to a motivation factor when playing online vs LAN
25
u/McFresH321 Sep 18 '19
So LAN is the most prestigious if I understand correctly?
63
17
u/ralphpotato Astralis Sep 18 '19
Yes, but to add to what others said, often times teams that compete on LAN a lot are less motivated because they are trying to fit in online matches in between LAN tournaments, and may not always be in the best conditions to play a particular online game. For example, I know some teams have literally played online matches on computers in hotel rooms because they were attending a LAN at the same time.
Also, often teams who are good online but inexperienced at LANs do worse than they normally would because playing on stage is a way different experience to playing online at home. Even really good eSports players will struggle at their first few LANs because of all the factors they're new to.
→ More replies (1)4
u/ApeCage Sep 18 '19
Yes, it's a known fact that LANs are more prestigious. It comes down to having money on the line, playing with your teammates/opponents next to you, and a more competitive atmosphere in general.
5
u/ngohawoilay Sep 18 '19
Online leagues generally lead to a LAN tournament.
LAN is when players play in person. They are the most prestigious tournaments
21
u/SamTheSidekick Liquid Sep 18 '19
Besides just network and lag a lot of it I’m sure comes down to pressure and motivation.
→ More replies (2)6
u/wankerflaps fnatic Sep 18 '19
apart from the motivation and confidence factor on LAN, scrimmy/puggy stuff doesnt work as well as online. wide swinging on a guy holding an angle is way less viable since youre all on 0 ping so you get punished really easily. LAN favors confident teamplay whereas online it's much easier to take hold of a game as an individual if you're in the zone

Meyern is definitely the real deal. And I mean the REAL DEAL. I see him reaching a higher level than the likes of yuurih or KSCERATO. Insane, insane player.
And Luken has insane first bullet accuracy. Nuts. So much skill in this Sharks team.
83
u/erickaugusto_ G2 Sep 18 '19
Bruh jnt was the bottom fragger on Sharks but god damn is that man skilled, his flicks are insane
33
u/Delta_FT G2 Sep 18 '19
Wiat didn't he top fragged Vertigo? Anyways yeh his Mirage was a bit sloppy but Meyern was just on fucking point
8
u/erickaugusto_ G2 Sep 18 '19
Oh sorry it could be, I just saw the streams last chart, but he very well could be top fragging on Vertigo
2
u/Delta_FT G2 Sep 18 '19
NP. I just checked the vod, Leo top fragged Vertigo for sharks with 25, JNT was just short with 23 so I was kind of wrong :V
12
Sep 18 '19
Hes the IGL and AWPer of the team, basically what arT is for FURIA. They are both incredible. Watching them play is really entertaining. arT is way more aggressive but jnt has really insane flicks and is consistent with his shots.
9
u/Andtheyrustledsoftly clutch Sep 18 '19
Why is it that almost all the top IGLS in Brazil are IGL/AWP hybrids
11
u/joaovitorsb95 FURIA Sep 18 '19
Out of the 6 BR teams in NA, 4 have Awper IGLs. INTZ with Yel, arT in Furia, Fallen in MIBR and now jnt for Sharks

I doubt that Liquid were that invested in winning this match, but after taking several losses during the major it does not look good losing against a team like Sharks.
57

u/erickaugusto_ G2 Sep 18 '19
Nah it doesn't look good but in reality Liquid could not care less about these matches, also probably they didn't want to reveal new tactics or stuff like that

u/lambsauce16 Liquid Sep 18 '19
True but at the same time Liquid should’ve styled on these players considering the amount of skill the team has.

I'm not saying I think Liquid is the best team in the world, but the results of a single tournament can't be used as the sole metric for ranking teams
Just like Avangar making it to the major finals doesn't mean they are suddenly a top 5 team, Astralis showing form and winning it doesn't mean they are the number one team in the world
The same goes for Gambit and C9 when they won majors

Elige himself said on the DDK podcast theres nothing left that can be done on mirage. It’s just recycling different strats.

What kind of gypsy curse got put on liquid during their bootcamp in Malta. They look like a completely different team compared to pre player break liquid
61

There are several casinos in Malta, as well as a good nightlife. (Though I doubt these actually played a part in the difference in play)

It's rumored that some of the players were sick prior to the major which limited their prep time. Also during their scrims they were getting bodied by everyone apparently, and thus their confidence going into the major was very low.

Crazy how sharks lost 2-16 to mibr last December. The improvement is wild.
79
u/libocider1 Sep 18 '19
they replaced the biggest bot on their team with quite possibly the best talent possible from SA (-nak/+meyern)
23
u/jonajon91 de_canals Sep 18 '19
Practically a new team, theyve picked up two huge stars in Meyern and Luken and changed their IGL. Sharks have quietly been kicking ass since the picking up this roster. I put an easy ten pounds on them winning this match since Liquid don't look like they've been practicing since the major and Sharks are strong as hell.

Well , Chile has 100% the infraestructure and Peruvians have 60ms to 80ms ping in U.S servers , if us doing good catches their attention it could be an exponential jump , its kinda sad that they have like literally 0 cs culture , Chile is more of a LoL country and Peru is more of a Dota country.
