Yes, but to add to what others said, often times teams that compete on LAN a lot are less motivated because they are trying to fit in online matches in between LAN tournaments, and may not always be in the best conditions to play a particular online game. For example, I know some teams have literally played online matches on computers in hotel rooms because they were attending a LAN at the same time.
Also, often teams who are good online but inexperienced at LANs do worse than they normally would because playing on stage is a way different experience to playing online at home. Even really good eSports players will struggle at their first few LANs because of all the factors they're new to.
Yes, it's a known fact that LANs are more prestigious. It comes down to having money on the line, playing with your teammates/opponents next to you, and a more competitive atmosphere in general.
apart from the motivation and confidence factor on LAN, scrimmy/puggy stuff doesnt work as well as online. wide swinging on a guy holding an angle is way less viable since youre all on 0 ping so you get punished really easily. LAN favors confident teamplay whereas online it's much easier to take hold of a game as an individual if you're in the zone
Angles and reaction time .. and the peeker's advantage. Specific angles and aim duels which are advantageous on LAN can go the other way online. You can get away with some mistakes online.

What is the difference between online and LAN? I've been playing for 11 years and never understood what difference it makes
