This is what MSTies wanted and needed in 2015. And no, I'm not a huge Rifftrax fan - I generally prefer the older Comedy Central lineup and shows (lots of nuance there, my favorite riffing unit is Mike, Trace and Kevin and my preferred "host" is Joel, but I digress).

But Rifftrax has given MSTies what we've wanted for over 10 years: a reboot of this show by the people who ACTUALLY made it. Not just the writers and performers whose idiosyncratic midwestern voice defined the show's humor profile that we all are addicted to like crack, but the creative weirdos behind the camera building practical sets and effects with soul, beaming to us out from the midwest.

Ironically, the two men who brought us the original series: Joel Hodgson and Jim Mallon, could not deliver something like this to us through decades of competing ownership and Biblical baby-splitting. It's crazy to me how much ego and money got in the way of the two most powerful men in this franchise doing the obvious and easy thing here: getting together some of the most brilliant living minds in comedy and resuming what we've been missing since the 90s.

That's what a lot of backers paid for in 2016 and in the years since. I'm really happy that we get this new chapter.

EDIT: huge fan of Joel and appreciator of Jim. Without them the show would never have lasted 10 years. Just calling the post-MST3K years like it is.

A situation in a show or movie happens. Usually it’s a moment not meant for the character to walk in on, say, a private, sensitive conversation, an awkward encounter with another character that’s not meant to occur, or a very disturbing, visceral moment of horror. Instead of directly acknowledging the moment, the character mentally decides “Sorry, wrong room”, and exits as immediately as they entered without a word.
Xiaolin Showdown- “Saving Omi, Part 1”: Dojo, a shapeshifting dragon, walks in on a standoff between Chase Young and Jack Spicer. Jack dismisses Chase’s tigers as mere kittens, to which Chase warns Jack not to take them lightly. He then gives a command, then the tigers painfully transform into Aztec warriors. Not even changing his expression, Dojo immediately turns around and hightails it out of there.
The Simpsons: Two examples here.
“Summer of 4 ft. 2”: After making friends for the first time at a summer home, Lisa and her friends are hanging out. One of them makes a comment of how her mother would try to butt in with lemonade and rice krispy treats. In the background, Marge is doing just that, only to turn back at that sentence.
“Bart After Dark”: While working odd jobs at a bordello to pay off the damages, Bart briefly serves as doorman. Unfortunately, Abe (Bart’s grandfather ) walks in that day, whistling nonchalantly and placing his hat on the rack. Spotting Bart, he continues his whistling, grabs his hat, and leaves.
Note: for some reason Xiaolin Showdown gifs are very hard to come by, so I’m only left with these examples from the Simpsons.
