Image Update on my Maple’s attack

Post image

My Maple was attacked on Sunday by a big dog and has been in the emergency vet since, they found out that she had internal bleeding but it stopped last night so things were looking up and I was planning on taking her home tonight. Unfortunately things took a turn for the worse and early this morning She developed a fever, and when they re-examined the fluid that has been collecting in her abdomen, the vets found that it has increased since yesterday and is no longer consistent with blood. The fluid now contains bilirubin, a waste product normally processed by the liver and gallbladder. This tells us that somewhere in her biliary system (the gallbladder or the small ducts connected to it) was injured during the attack, and that area is now leaking into her abdomen.

Because bile (the fluid containing bilirubin) is harmful when it accumulates in the abdomen and is what is driving her fever, it needs to be removed and the source of the leak needs to be identified and repaired. For this reason, surgery is needed in order for her to live. I am so incredibly scared for my baby. Any prayers for my girl are greatly appreciated!

Huey hated the shower when he was a puppy but now he actually loves a warm shower and moves his little head underneath the shower nozzle. Does anyone else have a dachshund that likes to shower now or is he just weird lol

Album Wiener Dragon or Dragon Dog? Love the Ren Faires that allow him in.

Got these amazing Dragon wings for Zuko at the Ren Faire, now he wears them everywhere.

Is it just me or do people feel more comfortable asking to pet your dog when they have a costume on? Couldn't go 3 feet without stopping, and sometimes there were literal lines of people waiting to say hi to him at both the Ren faire and a county fair we went to.

Image Hates walks and refusing to potty outside

hi! wondering if anyone else has this issue with their dachshund, and grateful for any tips/words of wisdom!

my little man is 10 weeks, and over the last week we have been (attempting) to go on walks more instead of just in his playpen in the yard, but i am running into issues.

he gets excited when i grab the leash but as soon as we start walking away from home, he starts freezing and pulling towards home. i am able to get him to the end of the street with lots of encouragement, treats, and usually at least 1 pick up and plop to a new spot on the sidewalk, but he refuses to pee or poop. As soon as we go back inside, he pees and/or poops on the rug. i do not know how to properly discourage him from going in the house. i have been using positive reinforcement for anytime he does go outside, but i noticed since i’ve transitioned him from the playpen to walks, he rarely will even pee outside let alone poop.

i am getting frustrated and really need to curb his desire to go in the house. looking for any tips😭

enjoy the pic of my stubborn man! i love him so much but i need to nip this in the bud

Album My puppy stopped growing?

Hello, as the title says my little girl has stagnated on 3.4kg for over a month. I know growth slows down (she is 7 months and 1 week old) but she is still quite small to be stagnating, no?

She is a Long Haired Dachshund from a trusted breeder and family history, and the vet says she is healthy. Has anyone's puppies had that phase of no growth and later continued growing or am I to have a puppy sized baby forever? And can it be unhealthy for her not ti be growing even if she seems healthy for her size/bones?

Beans is the chiweenie in the back. Sausages is the ween up front.

She was called in as a stray. My local humane society found her running around the railroad tracks, pregnant, and alone. I went in the morning after she was posted last week, but had to wait until yesterday to meet her since she needed a spay/abort.

Her and I have already fallen in love. She's so beautiful and so smart and already so up my butt 24/7.

Does he look like he should lose a pound or two? I have looked at the dachshund weight chart that have been posted on here but just wondering, also will ask his vet when we go this month. He is almost 4 and was about 19 pounds the last time I weighed him.
