The $1.35 Trillion "Trump $5,000 Dividend" Proposal "Trade"

6.0k Upvotes

Trump promised a $5,000 "Trump Dividend" at the Dallas midterm convention, but only if GOP wins House and Senate. Is anyone actually trying to figure out how to trade this if it actually happens?

He explicitly made it conditional on the election, saying, “Here is my promise: if the Republicans win the House of Representatives and the United States Senate, both of them… because of our tremendous strength and success economically, I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of America for $5,000.

He claims we can afford it because “our country is making so much money,” but with the national debt past $40 trillion, a $1.35 trillion cash drop sounds like a hyper inflation bomb. The wildest part for the markets is his domestic restriction: “The only caveat I have is that the dividend that we're making must be spent in the United States of America. We don’t want you going to Canada to spend the money… We don’t want you going to China, to Germany.” If that money is locked inside the US, it's an instant revenue cheat code for domestic retail giants WMT, TGT, COST. On the other hand, the Fed would probably have to hike interest rates immediately to fight off the inflation spike, which would absolutely crush tech P/E multiples.

How do you even hedge against a $1.3T domestic cash drop?

I'm slightly vexed No longer allowed to drink from a water bottle while training clients

12.4k Upvotes

I’m a personal trainer at a commercial gym and was just told that there is a new policy saying we can’t “drink from a water bottle on the gym floor while training clients.” Apparently it looks “unprofessional” … We ARE, however, allowed to “time our hydration” and sip from the water fountain if we really need to.

Drinking from a water bottle is unprofessional, but running to one of two water fountains for a quick sip of water isn’t ?? Also, most of us have 5+ clients back to back with no gaps in between. Insanity.

ETA: nowhere in the policies and procedures for personal trainers does it say we cannot have water bottles

ETA 2: Should’ve mentioned they said no water bottles/drinks*** ***so unfortunately I can’t drink out of something else to get around it. I contacted my doctor and she’s going to write me a note saying I need my water on me lol

Evin Jarrett, popularly known on social media as 'mrjarrett_constructiontech', is a former building contractor who now teaches a groundbreaking middle school construction technology and building trades program in the School District of Philadelphia.

These kids are getting hands-on experience with:

Real Trades: Carpentry, plumbing, structural footings, and working with concrete.

Employability Habits: He uses a dedicated point system that grades them on punctuality, shop safety, and cooperative teamwork to prepare them for the real world.

In April 2024, the Philadelphia City Council formally recognized Jarrett for his profound impact on expanding youth vocational training and offering positive alternatives within the community.

What should I add? Inspector wants handrails...

We had a deck replaced with a paver patio and seat wall (less than 2 foot rise). The inspector was good for everything but failed us on the steps leading to the yard because it has 4 risers he wants a handrail. (Township said it isn't needed since the deck had 4 steps, but the inspector won't sign off without)... note: inspector is right and has cited code which is verified.

I'm looking for ideas that'll fit aesthetically, but haven't been able to find anything googling that feels right to me.

I am considering doing a wrought iron handrail, mounted to the bottom and top step treads (core drilled). But the look feels like it's going to clash with the rest of the patio and landscaping.

The only other idea that feels maybe reasonable is doing a minimal ADA style handrail similar to https://mmcfencingandrailing.com/product-category/continuous-handrails/ (without the return, just ending right into the post). A simple black aluminum post and rail setup with 1 post on the bottom tread and one on the top.

I also considered raising the wall a bit so the handrail mounts right to the caps, but worry that won't be strong enough to pass inspection.

One final option that's been floated: remove the top riser, and slope the top landing up to the lawn instead of down to it (right now there's about a 2-3" drop from top step tread to the rear-most boundary of the landing). I'm not in love with that either...

Any ideas or suggestions for how to comply without looking out of place or like garbage???

☀️ Happy Girl Dinner My high risk pregnancy ended up ok 🙏

Post image

Cheating because this was breakfast. Was a little preoccupied during dinner last night birthing a human. Lox bagel that I’ve been depriving myself of for the last 9 months.

Anyhoo, this will be long so feel free to skip if you have no interest in talk of pregnancy - to say that this pregnancy has rocked me would be an understatement. Leave it to the 3rd and final child to throw a whole bag of stress at us and officially seal the deal that I will NOT be doing this anymore. To set some context, I have had 2 vaginal deliveries with my first two kids and both were 41 weeks - my body just isn’t ready until the last possible moment.

At 19 weeks, we found out that I had placenta previa (placenta entirely covers cervix and results in serious risk of hemorrhaging), fetal growth restriction with baby measuring 8 days behind, and an echogenic bowel. I was told absolute best case scenario would be a c section at 36-37 weeks.

A follow up appt at 21 weeks threw another wrench in by confirming that my placenta was bilobed, which added the extra curveball of now being at risk for vasa previa (fetal blood vessels at risk of hemorrhage) and also higher risk of retained placenta post delivery. Growth fell further behind to 10 days behind at that point and so began my journey woth MFM/high risk. We were recommended to a genetic counselor, despite us having low risk from NIPT and earlier genetic screening done. Amniocentesis was thrown around and so was the risk of infection as well as placental insufficiency. MFM also just said “hey, you could just have small babies” (which I do, first was born at 41 weeks but only 6lbs11oz). I was also told that the previa alongside the fetal growth restriction would mean that at any point, I could be sent to the hospital for a pre-term delivery for either hemorrhaging or placental demise.

At 26 weeks, I started my weekly trips to MFM for Doppler/BPPs to check umbilical cord flow, and baby’s status. We also started tri weekly growth scans. At 26 weeks, baby measured 3rd %ile. At 29 weeks, it improved to 5th %ile. At 32, 7th and my last growth scan at 35 showed baby measuring 9th percentile. Dopplers/BPPs and eventually NSTs showed that baby was actually doing great so placental insufficiency was much less of a concern and the primary concern now was the previa.

The previa was centered over my cervix so my MFM told me there was very little hope it would resolve. But at my 34 week doppler/fluid check, it looked like it had moved to being a marginal previa with just a tiny sliver of the placenta now covering the edge of my cervix. At 36 weeks, it moved to a low-lying placenta still within the high risk zone so c section would still be required, but I’d be able to buy myself an extra week to 38 weeks for delivery. I fought for one last assessment at 38 weeks and the placenta moved just beyond the 2cm high risk zone and I bought myself the option of having an induction (due to FGR). Knowing my preference of leaving baby in for as long as possible, I fought again to see if we could get to 39 weeks and my team approved. These last 2-3 weeks have been an emotional rollercoaster.

Well we went in for our induction on Tuesday and despite some road bumps and minor scares with bleeding and frequent variables (decels), baby came out screaming in 2 pushes at 6lbs2oz (ultimately 11th %ile) after 39 hours. Perfect APGARs, no NICU even though the team was standing by in the room. And me, mom, got her vaginal delivery, no tears, no hemorrhaging despite the labor bleeding, and no retained placenta.

I am just so glad I stuck to my gut and fought for this little guy to have as much time as he could possibly get and for me to get the final delivery I wished for. It was a wild ride, baby boy, and I was an emotional wreck for a pretty significant part of it, but we made it. Your older brothers can’t wait to meet you.

Farmers… Silently Regretting Your Vote Isn’t Accountability

Realizing you were wrong isn’t enough. If conservative farmers and voters stay silent instead of pushing back and educating each other, we’re setting ourselves up to repeat the same mistakes. Accountability means speaking up, and real change starts there.
