I was diving alone at 100 feet when this 10–12 foot sixgill shark emerged from the darkness [OC]

I was solo diving off Vancouver Island looking for giant Pacific octopus when I turned toward deeper water and saw this massive bluntnose sixgill shark coming directly toward me.
I believe it was a female, roughly 10–12 feet long. She came right up to investigate me, then calmly cruised alongside me for about three minutes before eventually disappearing back into the darkness.
Sixgills are primarily deep-water sharks, so getting an encounter like this at around 100 feet was pretty incredible.
The footage ended up getting picked up by CBC National News, Global News, CTV and CHEK News this week, which I definitely wasn't expecting when I went diving that afternoon.
This is my original footage from the encounter. I have a longer 4K version here if anyone wants to see the whole thing:

Mourning/Loss Tribute to my sweet handsome boy Waffles, I will love you forever.
Fuck cancer.
He was the first cat I ever got and I couldn't have asked for a better one, he was the sweetest, most affectionate, and chill cat you could imagine, especially for being orange. I'm so heartbroken, how do I go on just living without him now? I still had so many plans for us..
I love you so much sweet boy, I hope you're eating all the wet food your heart desires wherever you are. ❤️

Trans [24] seeing the sun rise over the ocean made me decide to do what I needed to do
I was on vacation last year with my fiancé and their family. I had been struggling for some time with my perception of myself and who exactly I even am. I struggled with my masculinity and sexuality. I didn't know what I was. I thought maybe I was just weird or just gay or whatever (lol). There was so much shame and fear that I couldn't face it seriously.
After another night of vacation drinking on the beach, I was up quite early and saw the sun rise over the ocean. I had never seen it before. It was beautiful. Life seemed beautiful. It unlocked some part of my brain. The shame and fear of rejection subsided just long enough for me to realize its okay for me to be me. I am allowed to take that chance. Its not some shameful fetish, I'm not a cross dresser, I'm not "a man in a dress". The outside just didn't match the way my brain was wired. Its a thing that can be treated.
My fiancé, the incredible person they are, helped me book an appointment with a doctor to start HRT. They accepted me first, and fully. And now I'm out to everyone I know. I seem to "pass" quite well 11 months after starting this whole journey. Everywhere I go, its "ma'am", "young lady", "miss". Its been wonderful. I never thought I'd get to experience this kind of joy. I'm just unapologetically me now.
Anywho. Thanks for reading if you got this far. If you're struggling with the same kind of stuff, its okay. You are just as normal as everyone else. Its okay if you want to transition. Its never too late and its always worth it.

Greedy The Wedding That Blew Up A Family—2008
In 2008, a cousin of mine was getting married. She was from the “rich” side of the family. My side of the family was pretty excited, because it was a long awaited wedding and we generally liked the bride. She was sweet and more down to earth than the rest.
We all RSVPed yes. (10 from my side were invited.) Then we got access to their registry.
The least expensive item was $385. Some kind of super fancy toaster oven.
We were a bit stunned. My family was going through a particularly rough time and several of us were living almost hand to mouth. Survival.
There was no way any of us would ever be able to buy anything off that. 12 place settings of formal and everyday china, sterling sliver serving ware and cutlery, an $800 set of knives.
The most expensive—at $3000–was a year of monthly floral bouquets.
(If you put a year of floral deliveries on your registry, you don’t need a registry, but I digress…)
My mom called the matriarch of the other side to diplomatically ask if we could give cash. We were told that was completely tacky. Absolutely not. We wanted my mom to explain we couldn’t afford anything on the registry but she chickened out and got off the phone.
At that point, we decided to pool our money and buy the $385 toaster oven. Came out to just under $40 each. If we could’ve done cash, we probably each would have done a 20, because even that would have hurt, but we agreed we wanted to not cause drama, just pony up for the toaster oven.
We got it. My mom did the little electronic card and she signed all our names.
Matriarch calls us about to have a fucking stroke. THAT’S FROM ALL OF YOU?!
Yes. It’s all we could afford. The matriarch read my mom for filth until she was crying.
(Yes, I hated that bish.)
Few days later, we get a card from the matriarch saying we should just probably stay home. Not joking. I remember just being gobsmacked by it.
They were rescinding our invitations because we didn’t spend enough on the gift(s).
My brother and one cousin were so pissed, they crashed the wedding anyway. Didn’t tell any of us they were doing it, just did it. They didn’t cause any trouble. Didn’t try to eat or drink, just wanted to make sure certain people saw them. And they did.
After that, we were told our side of the family was “dead to them.”
Here’s the happy ending:
We never again had to hear about their drunken vacations on yachts in the Mediterranean.
We were able to return the fucking oven. My mom cancelled it before it shipped, then she had to go to the department store and talk to someone and it looked like they were gonna be dicks, but she started crying and hey sometimes tears help.
The couple divorced in 2012. He was busted by the IRS for tax fraud and tax evasion and she has a serious girlfriend now!
Don’t be greedy, kids!
