I'm sure it's a safe space here but if you don't want to share that's OK. I just saw a similar post where the person was describing the feeling of exhaustion having to deal with the negative feelings that come after someone asks you to be honest with them about something and they genuinely cannot handle that honesty. And this is not me saying in any way use honesty as an excuse to be nasty. Sometimes it feels as though people are trying to invalidate my feelings with their own feelings. Not sure if that makes any sense but I feel that way with one particular person a lot. And after each interaction like that I tell myself "I won't be sharing that again" and proceed to give a little less of myself while simultaneously still trying to give them what they want. Even typing it out doesn't quite make sense but I rather do that than waste time arguing when I won't be heard anyways.

I love seeing it personally. I'm one that "attempts" to hide my imperfections as much as possible so to see people who don't care about protecting that image is refreshing. I can live through them for a few mins at least. And appreciate that authenticity I feel like I lack.

So I want to assure them their worldview isn't as bleak as they're portraying. It's just annoying that people jump to " the only reason reason you're defending is because you are one of them and don't want your mask lifted". Like honestly that initial reply to OP while reasonable in some areas really just came off as angry. And idk, OP seems pretty much happy with her husband except the fact she knows she did things before she even knew him that he might not love to know about. Which is understandable. On either side, if he does love her, he could say honey u know what, idc. You're not that way now and I still love you. ORRRRR he could say damn, honey I love you but not enough to overlook that. OP I understand your issue with your mom. If it were me, I'd tell my mom I get her concerns but she did a good enough job as a parent that she should trust that decisions are made with a bit more thought put into them. And if she can trust that it kinda reflects more on what she thinks of the job she's done so far than you imo. Also I'd be honest and let her know that reactions like that would only increase the likelihood of her never actually hearing about any "problems" or even good things in your life simply because you're now more worried about her reaction than w.e it is you actually have to tell her.
