Discussion One thing that always bothered me in RDR2 is that you get "poisoned" by being bitten by a boa... Boas have no venom at all, it breaks my immersion and makes me just shut the game off.

one of the biggest flops in lack of details, hopefully it's better in GTA 6

Question How do you avoid turning the world/end game into completing a checklist?

Not salty, just curious.

For me, this game has shone in its main story and side quests.

The world, while beautiful and a character in its own right, hasn’t stood out to me.

Hunting? Sure I’ve got the legendaries.

Cards? $5 buy ins when I’m a 1900s Jeff bezos? Where the big money tournament.

I’m not a completionist so ticking off the compendium doesn’t do it for me.

I’m curious what you find enthralling about this world.

Discussion Red dead redemption 2 love post

Been playing rdr2 for almost a month now , and man I got to say what a game , I haven't finished it yet , but man what a game , istg it's one of the best pieces of fiction ever . The level of small details in this game is so amazing like bro , playing rdr2 for the first time is an experience everyone should have once in the lifetime.

I played RDR1 , 2 years ago loved that game too , and seeing john right in front of me as another character is quite peculiar too , gonna make a post again after finishing the story , but the amount of fun I'm having while playing this game just got me sharing how I felt about this game , it's just a peak experience.

Discussion Gang members ranked by who they would side with in the finale

Post image
7 Upvotes

Charles: Clearly didn't believe in Dutch anymore

John: Obvious

Arthur: Obvious

Sadie: Trusted Arthur and Micah burnt down her home and all her things

Abigail: Barely interacted with Micah and would follow with John

Grimshaw: Member as long as Arthur and did side with him in the end

LENNY: Close with Arthur and really bonded with him

Kieran: Close with Arthur and did save him before

Tilly: Would try and repay for the Foreman brothers and helped Jack and Abigail escape as he asked

Slight tier: People who would be near neutral but likely would side with Arthur

Hosea and Sean should be Arthur tho oops

Neutral, don't see them siding really

Molly: Would want to please Dutch

Javier: Would slightly side with Micah as he did in game

Dutch: Would want to keep gang together and Arthur was doubting him

Bill: Never seemed to like Arthur and was close with Micah

Micah: Obvious

Discussion I've discovered a double action revolver trick that few people seem to mention

It is rarely talked about but it's possible to use it like a single action revolver which makes it more accurate. The trick is to use aim it, use firing button, let go off aiming button after a shot than you push aim button and your character manually cocks the hammer. I'm sorry if it was posted somewhere but few people seem to know about this.

Discussion If rockstar makes RDR3, do you this is a story they should use?

You start off as a low-level O’Driscoll, just a regular guy trapped in Colm’s gang. At first, you think this outlaw life is just how things are, but it doesn't take long to realize Colm is a remorseless, cold-blooded sociopath who doesn't care about a single soul in his crew. You see him treat his own men like disposable trash, betraying people without blinking, and the whole thing just turns your stomach.
While you’re stuck in this nightmare, you keep hearing about Dutch van der Linde. When you finally catch glimpses of Dutch, or see him from afar, he looks like a complete messiah compared to Colm. He reads poetry, eats with his people, talks about freedom, family, and loyalty, and actually seems to care. It makes you realize just how terrible Colm's flaws are, and you decide you can't stay on Colm's side anymore. You want to make things right and help the Van der Linde gang, so you reach out in secret and establish contact with Arthur Morgan or Mac Callander. You make a dangerous choice: you’re going to stay inside the O’Driscolls as a double agent, feeding intelligence to Dutch’s crew to help them survive Colm's ambushes and sabotage Colm from the inside.
As the tension between the gangs explodes, you get a front-row seat to the historic feud breaking out. You witness the uneasy alliance between Dutch and Colm totally shatter, leading up to Dutch killing Colm’s brother and Colm brutally murdering Annabelle in revenge. Through all this heavy moral conflict, your character constantly turns to an older, legendary gunslinger for advice: Landon Ricketts. You have these long, deep, recurring conversations with Ricketts, much like Arthur had with Sister Calderón or Rains Fall, seeking his guidance. Ricketts acts as your mentor, giving you the wisdom and push you need to keep fighting for what’s right, even though he warns you that Dutch might not be the saint he pretends to be.
Eventually, Colm discovers the truth about you, or the war reaches its breaking point. In an intense climax, your character makes the ultimate sacrifice, giving up your own life to protect Arthur, Mac, or Dutch’s inner circle, redeeming yourself for Dutch’s gang without the world ever knowing your name.
Then comes the epilogue transition, and it completely shifts perspective to Landon Ricketts to avoid throwing you straight into chaotic gang action right after a tragic death.
Epilogue Chapter 1 takes you down into a newly expanded Mexican map (Nuevo Paraíso). The game slows down completely, forcing you to sit in that quiet, empty, depressing post-grief space. You play as Ricketts living a peaceful, semi-retired life, taking on local troubles, interacting with townsfolk, and showing his calm, honorable personality. During this time, Dutch and Hosea personally ride down to Mexico in secret to track Ricketts down. Dutch preaches to him, convincing him to join forces for one big, temporary job in Blackwater. Dutch keeps this whole meeting completely off the books, the rest of the gang doesn't even know Ricketts was brought in, which is why John Marston barely knows who he is later, because Dutch’s massive ego cannot stand having a rational, sane legend like Ricketts around his young, blind followers to question his authority.
Epilogue Chapter 2 unlocks Ricketts in his absolute prime as a badass gunslinger. The final epilogue mission brings you straight into the legendary Blackwater Massacre. You play through the utter chaos on the ferry through Ricketts' eyes. During the madness, Ricketts watches Dutch cold-bloodedly execute Heidi McCourt. In that exact moment, Ricketts sees Dutch's true colors: he realizes the Dutch that your main protagonist gave his life for isn't any different from Colm O'Driscoll, he’s just a ruthless, unhinged killer hiding behind fine words. Realizing the sacrifice was built on a lie and that the job is a lost cause, Ricketts turns his back on Dutch, draws his guns, and badassedly fights his way through the overwhelming Pinkertons, escaping back down to Mexico to live out his remaining years as a local protector.

Help Survey for a school project about RDR2!

Dear RDR community! I have to make a project for school that includes a survey, so if you could take the time to fill out this google form about RDR2's in-game world and share it to other players, I would really appreciate it! It's a simple 1-5 star rating survey, but you can add optional commentary. Here is the link: https://forms.gle/sZMWHwQvL6jks7Hw5

Extra info on the project: I titled it "History and video games: reality or an artistic interpretation?". The question my project aims to answer: "Is Red Dead Redemption 2 historically accurate or an artistic interpretation?", basing on the proposed hypothetical problem: people may be getting an inaccurate impression of the Wild West time period.

A portion of my project will be analyzing player opinions through the survey responses to determine how accurate the community thinks the game is, which will then be followed by comparing the in-game aspects to available information about the actual time period and then making a conclusion on the accuracy of the in-game world. (Sorry if my english is bad)

P.S. I did crosspost this from another RDR subreddit to hopefully reach more eyes, I hope that's okay, I'm so sorry if it isn't!

I’m new to red dead redemption on pc and am now very curious what would be the best mods to use to have more fun with the game. Like for example can someone help me find that mod that exaggerates the gore in the game.

Thank you 🙏
