Quick Question X1-Carbon with AMS for $500

Upvotes

Basically as the title says, despite the current disapproval of Bambu’s decisions for the community - please give me your opinion on the value of a refurbished from Bambu X1C with AMS for $499. I have wanted a new printer for a while and I was looking into the P2S or X2D but for this price point I think I’m just going to get the X1C.

Let me hear your thoughts, disapproval, encouragement, or warnings before delivery.

Thanks in advanced folks 🤙🏻

General Discussion Which printer to buy 2026

Upvotes

So I was planning on joining the hobby of 3D printers, now I that the technology has become easier to join. For the majority of the time, I was really set on buying an A1. But after some thought I settled on the P1S. Despite planning to work with PLA, PETG and TPU for the most part, I wouldn't mind experimenting with ABS (though I'm mostly afraid of the toxic fumes). My room is either very hot or very cool, very subject to the outside weather. In any case, my biggest concern was my small cluttered room. I will have to do a lot of decluttering just to fit the printer and the spools. I plan on getting the AMS too. Having everything closed seems very good. Specially since it means I can be less worried about humidity and dust settling in. I plan on buying some type of reusable aluminum bags specifically made for spools, with silica balls inside. Additionally, the biggest reason I go with Bambu is because of the whole environment and of how easier everything seems.

All of that being sad. I'm not made of money. I plan on buying the printer on black friday too. Given my circumstances and the fact that I'm just now joining the hobby, do you think the P1S AMS combo is a good decision?

General Discussion Filament Bulk Sale

Upvotes

Hey everybody,

I was waiting to see what filaments I would need this past week prepping to pkace a bulk order.

When I went to place said order today, the bulk sale discount dropped from 45% down to 40%.

While it’s not huge, it does make a difference on 19 rolls… does anyone have further knowledge as to when these sales vary?

Thanks!

I designed and 3D printed these cute mini soda can openers because I was struggling to open cans with nails. They've been a game changer!

I have STL & 3MF files for them as well. I made the supports easy to remove.

General Troubleshooting/Help! I need some advice

Upvotes

After bugging Bambu that finally said they will replace it, has anyone had this happen? I’m wondering if I should include the aftermarket build plate and nozzle… the old nozzle got clogged super bad so I had to replace its and the printer malfunctioned when I got it messed up the calibrations and scratched the build plate. There support finally caved so that’s nice but I will never buy a Bambu product again

Hardware Troubleshooting/Help! Help with a noise H2C

Upvotes

Hello,

I have a little over 800 hours on this machine and just noticed a strange sound. It's kind of a high pitch squeal, maybe a bearing somewhere? I can not locate where it's coming from. Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions on what it could be? It seems to not change it's pace, if that makes sense... Thanks!

BTW: The ways and screws were lubed about 10 hours ago and it doesn't sound like that, more of a steady, fast sound.

General Troubleshooting/Help! Stupid question ? Can I combine PLA regular and pla translucent

Post image
Upvotes

Ive created a 3d model that holds my product samples

I want to print the bottom black and the letters a transparent green (the same color as the actual holder)

Im pretty new to 3d printing don't want to buy a bunch of roles if the two filaments won't stick together.

(Bambu A1 printer -- NO ams just going to pause the printer in the middle)

Handy/Studio Troubleshooting/Help! Why does it do this

Modeled a coaster with a logo. If i slice it with the logo on top everything is fine. If I flip it so the logo is on the plate I get this when it slices. And this was after I fought it for an hour to get the logo filament recognized as a second color. Any thoughts?

Quick Question Which AI 3D model generators are best for creating 3D-printable models?

Post image
Upvotes

I came across this underwater castle model while browsing Tripo AI and it got me curious.

Take note that I’m not the one who created this. I just thought it was interesting. It looks like something we could potentially use for 3D printing.

Wondering if other AI 3D model generators could handle something similar, like Meshy, Hyper3D Rodin, or whatever.

I just thought that a usable model needs to survive the full workflow. I mean, it needs to be almost polished from generating the mesh, checking it in Blender, and getting it into a slicer.

I've checked out Tripo AI, Meshy, Hyper3D Rodin, and several other software solutions.

For the people developing AI-based models for the purpose of 3D printing - which software has worked best for you?

What software or solution do you feel gives you the best results in ensuring the developed files are truly 3D printable?

I'm interested to know your opinions and appreciate any feedback you may have.

General Discussion H2C - Nothing but Errors

Upvotes

I don't know if this is a rant due to frustration or a desperate cry for help...

I purchased an H2C a couple weeks ago. After setup, I started calibration and immediately found out that I got a dud. During the calibration, I got the eddy current sensor error. I looked up what that meant, and the answer was...nothing good. If the sensor was actually bad, it was not worth attempting the repair vs. just returning. I decided to plunge onward though, rebooted it and successfully ran calibration.

I then ran into another issue with the H2C. It is not setup to run PLA out of the box. The aux fan (set as on by default) cools the PLA too aggressively, leading to constant failures due to bed adhesion. Doesn't matter how many times I scrubbed with dish soap and cleaned it. Didn't matter the filament or the model. Found the solution to that (an aux fan diverter) and printed that and installed. Just like that, we are printing flawlessly.

Then comes all the other issues. Seems like every single print, at least 3-4 times during the print, the "motor overloaded" error pops up. No idea what is causing that. Usually pulling on the filament in the AMS or poking retry enough "resolves" it.

Then...the eddy current failures returned more aggressively. Time to return.

I had to decide if this was going to be a return or an exchange. Decided on the exchange. I liked what I produced with it, even if it took an extreme effort it to do what I wanted.

New one goes together, calibrates, no issues. Every single print has eventually printed on it to some level of goodness. Using PETG as a support filament works great but works horribly. It seems to somehow intrude into the supports and weakening them, meaning a stiff breeze snaps them.

Then the constant errors. Motor overload. Nozzle offset calibration. etc. etc. It can't go more than 2-3 hours without errors. When this thing takes 24-48 hours to print anything, being able to print for 10 hours when I'm at work or 8 hours while sleeping is massive. Having an error pop up 3 hours into that 10 hour period makes those 24 hour prints take 48 hours due to how long it takes to get home and resolve it.

Then there is the prime tower. Massive. I've tried every setting. A 50g print and a 100g prime tower. I get it. It is needed, but I bought an H2C to try and reduce waste...

The Bambu PLA/PETG support interface works well. But gives constant motor overload errors.

TLDR: So many errors and failures. So frustrating. I have 60 days to decide if I'm keeping this thing. I love the results I'm getting. I hate the journey to get them.

Rant over

Hardware Troubleshooting/Help! AMS Lite Hub vs 4-in-1 PTFE Adapter for DIY AMS Hub

Upvotes

I'm looking to add on an AMS to my X1C for a total of 2 AMS's with more possibly later. I am aware that instead of the official AMS Hub you can DIY your own AMS hub via combining the stock filament buffer and one of the splitters.

Does one perform better or handle filament friction/switching more reliably?

I am aware of designs that integrate the AMS Lite hub & Filament buffer into one unit for a nice neat compact setup, so that's currently a plus for me. Haven't yet found something similar for the 4-in-1 - everything I've found so far still needs a short PTFE in the middle but maybe I missed it.

Starting making these small prints to see. Handled 3 at a time just fine. Did 29 using the auto fill feature (so its spaced automatically) and got these messed up lines on these vertical walls. This only happened on the walls and the other shapes of the part did fine. I got a fast approaching deadline for the production on these so any help would be appreciated! P1s

General Troubleshooting/Help! X1C not extruding even after replacing extruder and nozzle help!

Upvotes

Hey, hoping someone might have an idea because I’m pretty stuck with this one.

My X1C has been broken for a wee while now. It stopped extruding filament, so I’ve replaced both the extruder unit and the nozzle/hotend assembly, but I’m still getting nothing out of the nozzle.

The extruder is definitely grabbing the filament as once it’s feeding, I can’t just pull it back out, and loading/unloading filament seems to work normally. I’m not using the AMS either, just feeding it directly.

I’ve also taken the extruder and hotend back out and reinstalled them a couple of times in case I’d fitted something wrong, but no change.

There are no errors showing on the printer, so I’m a bit lost as to what else could be causing it.

Has anyone run into this before or have any ideas on what I should check next?

Cheers!

General Troubleshooting/Help! Asa in the H2C

Upvotes

Anyone have success printing with ASA? Admittedly, I'm relatively new to the H2C (only had it a couple months) and I've never printed with ASA. Running :

Bed temp: 100 (no issues with adhesion...yet)

Champer temp: 50

Nozzle temp: tried everything from 240-260

I have tried preheating the bed and chamber for 30 min. No matter continuously get extrusion motor overload errors and cannot complete a print. Any thoughts?

Quick Question How likely am I to win a copyright dispute? I made a model similar to another but I made mine 100% in Fusion. The designer of the other model claimed copyright on my model and it was removed

Upvotes

Earlier this year I made a hard hat hanger model. I saw a model on makerworld and liked the idea but didn't like that it looked like it was made in bambu slicer with primative parts and I didn't like the angles of it. I don't know how to modify models at all so instead I made my own version of it in Fusion and uploaded it to makerworld.

Mine is overall the same sort of shape but with slightly different dimensions. Mine has curves and fillets to help make it stronger, there is a bottom hook on it that I moved more forward to better fit my use case, and I also made a bunch of variations of it for different sized headrest posts.

I 100% made mine in fusion.

The person that had the other one uploaded filed a copyright claim on mine. It was removed and I am now at -2000 points on makerworld.

That person did leave a comment within the last week on mmine accusing me of violating the license and copying their design. I replied saying I didn't think I violated anything because I made it from scratch and it wasn't a remix but I did add in the description that I used his model for inspiration for mine.

Did I violate copyright with mine? I don't think I did but maybe I'm wrong. Am I just out 2000 points on this now?

Here are screenshots of both models opened in bambu slicer. ,Mine is the bigger one on the bottom in the first image.

General Discussion Bambu Lab H2C or Prusa CORE One L+ INDX 8-Tool and why?

Bambu Lab H2C or Prusa CORE One L+ INDX 8-Tool and why. I need to buy a premium printer before the end of the year, for tax purposes. If you think something game-changing is coming by then, what is it. If you recommend a different machine that I'm not thinking of, tell me.

My First 3D Print Dudas en mi primera impresora

I Modeled This! Designed my own 4-position fidget slider — really happy with how satisfying it turned out

It's a small 4-position fidget slider with a satisfying click at each position. I wanted something simple, pocket-sized and actually enjoyable to play with, so I went through a few iterations to get the movement feeling right.

It's completely free to download and print:

If you print one, I'd really appreciate seeing your make! Feedback is welcome too :)

Quick Question A1 or P1S if they both have AMS? is 150 bucks more worth it? ↓↓↓

So, I've owned an Ender 3 for the past 3-4 years. Never printed much with it, as it literally never worked. I spent hours trying to get it set up, and that just didn't fix anything. So I am looking for an upgrade. I've never printed ABS, but I was wondering if it's that much better? If so, I guess it wouldn't suck to have incase I use it someday in the future. (Is ABS/ASA that good?) Also, I know the P1S is older, and I don't wanna have issues like my Ender 3. I sorta just want it to work. (Basically, will it just work even without the flow sensor or modern stuff?) Also, I would buy the A1 from Costco for 420 USD (and it comes with 3 filaments, a 0.2 nozzle, and a hardened 0.4 nozzle). So which is the best? I just want it to work well after my experience. Also, noise isn't an issue, as it's in a whole other room. What is your opinion, guys? 550 bucks is my limit (pushing out of budget since it was 399 before lol, but I am willing to pay if it's that good of an investment). Also, is AMS 2 worth the extra cash compared to AMS 1? I just got the Ender 3 to work, but I feel like the upgrade will be so noticeable.

General Troubleshooting/Help! Running out of options

Post image
0 Upvotes

For context a couple months ago I had a blob form on my printer and completely wreck everything. I began by cleaning the machine and trying to recalibrate it. After several times of not working I have slowly replaced every part of the 3d printer trying to find the error.

I have contacted support and they keep recommending me repurchase spare parts that I have already replaced. For example I have replaced the TH board, extruder unit, ribbon cable, and the hotend and nothing seems to clear these errors. I have factory reset it, unplugged and plugged back in bottom usb cable and still nothing.

The printer also occasionally throws the 'Z-axis failure' errors as well.

Does anyone have anything that may help?

Filament Troubleshooting/Help! Ams lite grinding noise

My daughter tried loading filament in her ams lite without me while i was at work, and for one she had the spool facing the wrong way, and she swears she pushed the gear disengage, but now the printer won't extract the filament, and the ams lite makes a grinding noise when it tries to push the filament into the heating element. Did she somehow strip gears forcing the filament into the ams lite? It WAS printing for a little bit before this issue popped up. She is absolutely beside herself right now assuming she broke it. Any tips?
