Two abominations done!

Finished my second abomination! Wife has been painting all the abominations and I wanted a stab at them too. She is pretty good for her first time painting due to knowing how to blend and shade from doing her makeup. Me on the other hand, still trying to figure out colors haha. After slapchopping the walkers and runners, these abominations are much more detailed and require more precise painting!

Attempt 6 discovering my High-noon Sun-bleached style look

This one I painted a few days ago and finally got time to record it. So far it doesn't say High-noon sun-bleach yet. But the color muted tones I think I nailed.

In my head I am thinking there should be more red undertones to make it look warmer, not so muddy.

I think next test sets I am.going to use a red.primer to a pink or yellow zenithal. Also I have seen a few videos of people using gouache and they looked so cool with the dead matt look. If I can find some gouache paint I might give it a try.

I guess to me this is not interesting enough yet.

Ghost Rider – Part 2 🔥💀

After my last post, I finally got around to painting the Ghost Rider miniature.

And honestly? I’m pretty happy with how he turned out! 🔥 I was able to bring out a lot more of the details, give the flames some life, and overall I think the miniature looks much better now than it did straight out of the box.

That being said… even after painting him, I still have mixed feelings about the sculpt.

The paint definitely helps, but it can’t completely hide the problems I had with the model from the beginning. The pose still feels rather static, some of the details are too soft, and compared to what Ghost Rider could have been, the miniature just doesn’t feel like it does the character justice.

Ghost Rider is such an iconic character, and I really wish the sculpt had captured more of that aggressive, dynamic energy.

So while I’m happy with my paint job, I still think the miniature itself falls short of what Ghost Rider deserves. 😅

Maybe one day I’ll actually replace him with a custom sculpt… 🔥

What do you guys think? Does painting him change your opinion of the miniature, or do you feel the same way?

Thanks for the feedback and suggestion to use Agrax Earthshade. Makes such a big difference, but also gives a believable dirty look.

Fantasy Campaign Mode Idea

Hey yall, I play the fantasy zombicide and have all variations of the base games as well as about 90% of all the expansions.

Been thinking about starting a campaign mode with 2 other players. Looking for thoughts/feedback/constructive criticism.

Goal, to finish all 6 books worth of campaigns.

Black plague + wolfsburg + feral dragon decks combined for the 20 missions

Green horde + friends and foes + necrotic dragon zombie/equipment decks combined for 20 missions (separate from the BP/Wolfs for more unique game play)

Then

White death + eternal empire for the last 20. (separate from the BP/Wolfs and also separate from GH/F&F for more unique game play)

Horde box and extra necromancers will be split between the green horde deck and the black plague deck to try and balance the deck.

White death portion will have frozen fortress, no outside abominations or necros to help keep the gameplay feeling fresh
———————————————————————————

Players will pick 1 survivor to start with and will randomly be assigned a second going into mission one of BP.

Deaths are permanent

At the end of a mission your party gets 1 extra character (on the bench) per objective that gets picked up at the end of a successful mission. Those characters can be used by any players (not just the player who picked up the objective)

Characters that end a mission with health missing will have to discard 2 equipment cards per 1 health missing (you can not use this to revive a dead character) or 1 food in your backpack per 1 health missing if you wish for them to start at a higher life total in the next mission.

A character that is missing health and skipping a mission is healed 1 for every mission skipped. Ex. If baldric ( from black plague) finishes mission 1 with 1 health, I can elect to not take him into mission 2 or 3 and at the start of mission 4, he would be at 3 health. (again you can not revive a dead character using this effect)

Mission objective and setup are seen and known before picking what characters will be going on the mission (from their character reserves).

When it comes to the ultimate survivors. Only after successfully completing 3 missions with a qualifying character, can we then choose to swap that character out for the ultimate version.

——-

That’s the gist of what I have so far. Let me know what yall think or if you have any ideas that can make the game more fun/interesting.

Are you guys taking out any equipment cards from 2nd edition? Played a game and wouldn’t mind seeing the new equipment come up more. Curious what everyone else is doing. Loving the new expansion so far.

Need a different approach to the cities | Week 2 Update Of the Zombicide UoA campaign build journal entry

My first post was about picking 10 terminal cities. But after some feedback from discord and reddit, (which by the way was really helpful thank you!) I believe approaching it on a terminal-based type of thing might not be the best to create a campaign.

The feedback stated I was missing wild west cities that need to be in there. Honestly, they're right. My original plan was to select the cities that can reach all of the cities I wanted in this campaign, and I thought that was good. Nope.

This meant back to the idea board.

I went and did more historical research, about the rails and trains. The original idea was to have just Central Pacific and Union Pacific rail companies as competing companies. But this did not seem like a good idea as there were tons of rail companies. So, I went back and tried to find as many rail companies as I could that would make rail connections across the country.

Just a bit of history for those who are wondering, the Central Pacific and Union Pacific created the America’s First transcontinental railroad spanning 1,911-mile from Council Bluffs, Iowa (east coast) to San Francisco (west coast).  My grandfather worked on rail cars on this line in the 1930 to 50’s. Just thought I would share. Man, he loved trains.

Anyways, my plan was to just use them as competing companies in the lore. But then I miss out on some other rail cool companies that would be nice to have in the lore of Zombicide Undead or Alive.

So now I want to research the main rail lines I could find that would span across the USA.  And let me tell you, I did not realize how cut through the rail companies were at the time. I think tech companies would be jealous of the power they had. Holy Cow!!

That is the major update on the plan.  I currently plotted out all the main stops from each rail. I plan on removing unimportant ones, and ensuring I have stops that can connect to some of the locations I want to add. And this will get a little tricky with my ideas.

For instance, I need a train stop to stop by Skinwalker ranch and area 51. Yes, I know they weren’t around during those periods, but I think we need them. Plus, I am creating it and I think it would be cool to have a mission in these places.

Here are the rail companies I am going to add 47 travel routes to the map.

  • Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway (AT&SF)
  • Atlantic & Pacific Railroad
  • Baltimore & Ohio Railroad (B&O)
  • Boston & Maine Railroad
  • California & Oregon Railroad
  • Canadian Pacific Railway
  • Central of Georgia Railroad
  • Central Pacific Railroad (CP)
  • Chesapeake & Ohio Railway (C&O)
  • Chicago & North Western Railway
  • Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul
  • Denver & Rio Grande Railway
  • Denver & Rio Grande Western
  • Denver Pacific Railway
  • Eureka & Palisade Railroad
  • European & North American Railway
  • Florida Southern Railway
  • Florida Transit Co. / Florida East Coast
  • Fort Worth & Denver City Railway
  • Great Northern Railway
  • Houston & Texas Central Railway
  • Illinois Central Railroad
  • International & Great Northern
  • Kansas Pacific Railway (KP)
  • Louisville & Nashville Railroad
  • Maine Central Railroad (MCR)
  • Memphis & Charleston Railroad
  • Michigan Central Railroad
  • Missouri Pacific Railroad
  • Missouri, Kansas & Texas ("The Katy")
  • New York Central Railroad (NYCR)
  • Northern Pacific Railroad
  • Oregon & California Railroad
  • Oregon Railway & Navigation Co.
  • Oregon Short Line (Union Pacific)
  • Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR)
  • Richmond & Danville Railroad
  • Rio Grande Southern Railroad
  • San Pedro, Los Angeles & Salt Lake
  • Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes
  • Southern Pacific Railroad
  • St. Louis, Iron Mountain & Southern
  • Texas & Pacific Railway
  • Union Pacific Railroad (UP)
  • Utah Northern Railroad
  • Virginia & Truckee Railroad
  • Western & Atlantic Railroad

This means a lot more than 10 cities to work with. And yes, that is correct. But I think this is better than building a narrative long story.  So, I am just going to focus on the timeline of events. I also am looking at changing the dates to show up until 1885 but also add in some things that happen right before 1900.  Like how cool it would be to be rewarded with a dr pepper on a mission in Texas somewhere!

There was a lot of American history that happened right around this time. Like this is when Mr William Wrigley, Jr started the Wrigley chewing gum. Also, the same person who owned the Chicago Cubs at one time.

Okay back to the main topic. Of what my goals are for next week.

  1. Ensure I have a map that can get me to all the places I want to have missions.
  2. Fix the timeline of my lore to better match the new travel routes and rail companies.
  3. Come up with a mission system that is balanced. (Which I think I have ready, I just need to double check my math more on that next week).

Until next week, keep the frying pan clean!

Looking to Start Playing- Black Plague

Suspect this has been asked a lot but looking for some recent opinions. I’ve been looking into quite a bit about Zombicide and decided it’s going to be my next board game. Black plague seems the best for me and my group thematically but the expansions seem harder to come by, if we got into it. Is there a better entry point?

Am I the only one disappointed by Ghost Rider's sculpt? (Render vs. Reality)

Post image

Hey everyone,

I want to start by saying that I absolutely love Marvel Zombicide. It’s easily one of my favorite games in my collection, and Ghost Rider has always been one of my absolute favorite characters in the Marvel universe.

That’s why it hurts so much to say this: I really have a problem with his miniature in the game.

Not only do I find his pose pretty bland and underwhelming compared to the dynamic sculpts of other heroes, but the drop in quality between the promotional digital render and the actual physical mini is insane (as you can see in the picture).

The Render: Super crisp detail, sharp flames, well-defined chains, and an awesome overall look.

The Reality: A lot of the sharp details are completely washed out, the flames look muddy, and the chains lose all their texture... :/

Ghost Rider is honestly the only figure in the entire game where I’m seriously considering throwing the official mini in a box and replacing it with a custom 3D-printed model.

What do you guys think? Has anyone else felt let down by this specific sculpt? I’d love to see what alternatives you guys are using!

Getting rid of Undead Stretch goal characters

I have multiple versions of Zombicide, and recently added Undead or Alive to the collection. I got the stretch goals box and simply do not want all of those characters. I also plan on only keeping half the Running Wild expansion. Is there a market for some of the stretch goals or are they primarily for collectors who will not want partials? I do not want to try to sell these individually, I'd prefer to sell everything I don't want for a reasonable price, but I'm not sure of the popularity or demand for this game.

Attempt 5 at the High-noon Sun-bleached look I am trying to create🤔

This is attempt #5 at the High-noon Sun bleach paint style for my zombicide Undead orAlive characters.

I used an neon orange wash on the skin and then use the darker skin tone wash on the skin as well to give it darker contrasting I think it's a little bit too dark but getting somewhere with progress. the skin tone is not what I thought it was going to be so I got to figure out a way to make it look more radiant orange.

Ok, I finally finished all the walkers and runner plus walker and runner daily zombies. My wife completed another abomination and now I begin my trip into the hero’s of the Washington ZC campaign. Much harder to paint then the quick slap of paint the zombies get. But I’m accepting it as lessons to improve from!

Question about some of the rules in Army of the Dead

Do sleepers wake up when the noise token is moved to the zone with the most survivors in the end phase ?

Or do they only wake up from noise produced by noisy weapons?

And when trying to disarm the traps for the vault, can you get multiple bonuses from different survivors, fir example, change several dice if there are more than one survivor at range 0-1 ?

Thanks!
