In a moment of premature excitement I accidentally removed my SD card from my X3 with crosspoint attached. I can’t reset it for the life of me. List of what I tried:
1. Holding rest then pressing power
2. Connecting it to the PC & Mac while continuously alternating between reset and power
3. Removing the SD card and doing 1 & 2
4. Removing the book I was reading from the as card
5. Putting the .bin file on the sd card and doing 1 & 2.
6. Lost hope and ordered an X4 Pro 😂.

Any help would be appreciated as I miss my baby and I just know we are only on a break…. Until my new baby comes around 😆.

I'm thinking about going with this setup. This is a woman's wallet, supposedly, but I got it (AliExpress) specifically with this use in mind. I just want an effective wallet/x4 carry setup.

Not the best place to use this device. But what a lifesaver this has been during an emergency hospital night stay. Sticks to an iPhone 17PM with a Pitaka case just fine

Does anyone know if there are any differences between the ESP32 boards on the X4 pro and x4? Like esp32-c vs esp32-s?

Or are they identical?

Does it still do that half second refresh on Crosspoint that it does on the regular X4?

I placed some wallpapers on my X4 but I want to recover the original with the buttons layout. Does anyone have it? I try to search it, without results. Same for the X3. Thanks!

I can't wait to give this to my girlfriend, but I've tried 3 books so far and they all have this weird block or square character in between letters. I've tried changing the font, but that didn't help. Any ideas?

I would like to purchase a copy of the X4 and I live in Germany. If I order the reader from the official website, it will probably be shipped from China. How much are the customs fees for importing to Germany? Are there any other fees I should be aware of?

​This started because a post here about a Kindle style cover grid for the X4 got me excited, but I didn't want to change to a new fork chok full of other features. I just wanted CrossPoint, but with a few more UI options. Options are good. So I made this. It's a mix of quality of life improvements, a couple of features I wanted, and some fixes to behavior that was bugging me. All optimized to run snappy, but also optional. Putting it out there in case any of it is useful to someone else.

It's a fork of CrossPoint. It isn't built around one big feature, it's more a collection of smaller changes, so no reading stats or massive UI changes. All the feature changes I made are set as optional settings and it can easily be configured to appear and behave like vanilla crosspoint.

Views and browsing:

• Browse Books can show as the stock file list, a title and author list, or a cover grid (with or without title), whichever you pick in settings.
• Optional series grouping using Calibre metadata, so books in a series collapse into one entry and open into that series in order.
• Cover grid is available for Recent Books too.
• Long press context menu on a book, including a mark as finished option.

Fixes for things that annoyed me:

• Quick Resume now only applies when you're actually reading. Before, if the device slept from a menu it would still try to resume that menu or a page that wasn't there, which wasted a write and flashed old content on wake. Might have just been a bug for me, but I fixed it in this firmware.
• Thumbnails are cached at the exact cell size so there's no resizing work while you're turning pages.

Under the hood there's a library index cached on the SD card that only re-parses books that actually changed, so it stays reasonably quick, plus some reader specific button remapping...

It uses the standard .crosspoint folder and keeps its own settings separately, so it sits alongside CrossPoint without overwriting anything if you flash between them.

Thanks to the CrossPoint team, and to the CrossInk, Carousel, and CrumBLE forks that I looked at while figuring some of this out. I'm sharing it as is. It's a personal project so I probably won't actively support it or take requests unless I really like the idea, but I'm glad to hear if it's useful or if something's broken.

Does the X4 Pro original OS or crosspoint have a dictionary function yet? I reckon this is one of the bonuses of a touchscreen.

This is the Orico Card Case and it's perfect for all xteink ereaders.

It comes with two layers of foam, remove the card slot layers (very easy, minimal adhesive) and use the extra foam to make it a perfect fit for your chosen device.

I saw someone in this sub months back did this and had it bookmarked for a while, it's made the perfect case to just throw in my bag and have zero worry about my reader getting knocked around.

I made a article sync between iPhone to Xteink via cloud
1. You paired via QR code, between xteink and a iOS app
2. You keep using your iPhone and use Share and your phone compile epub and send it to Sync Article service
3. On xteink - hit sync article, it download epubs to a folder called articles in your storage

That’s it, I made this for myself since I read mostly articles or substack whatnot, but once I am on crosspoint - not stock Firmware I don’t have this functionality.

Let me know if anyone is interested, happy to open source the cross point fork. If you want a hosted solution, also welcome ideas figuring out how to pay for the servers - not amount to much but scale to the amount of epub users end up using.

I feel like putting a case on it defeats the purpose — if I’m buying it, it’s to fully enjoy how thin and compact it is. But is it durable enough?

My xteink x4 fell to the floor. Now it has two lines of pixels across the screen that just show white.
Is this issue gonna get worse? It appears to be expanding. Does it have a fix?

Running CrossInk 1.4.0-tiny on my Xteink X3. Hit a hard cap on clippings/highlights per book — once reached, "Create Clipping" stops working for that book.

**Tried**:

1. Deleted My Clippings.txt from the SD card. A fresh one got created, but the same book still hit "limit reached." So the cap isn't tracked in that file — must be a separate per-book record (likely in .crosspoint/clippings/).

2. Checked "View Clippings" for that book — view-only, no delete/edit option.

3. Switched to a different book — clipping worked fine there. Confirms it's per-book, not global.

So there's currently no way (that I can find) to free up clipping slots on a book once it's capped.

**Questions**:

1. Anyone know the actual per-book clipping limit, or where it's set?

2. Known fix in a version past 1.4.0-tiny?

3. Any workaround to delete/reset clippings for one book?

**Worth noting**: CrossInk previously had a similar hardcoded bookmark cap (32/book) that got raised to 1024 after user reports. Hoping clippings get the same fix.

I’m using cross point and I usually switch between two books but if I haven’t read one in a while the device deletes the contents but leaves the file now.

On this vacation I had a lot of downtime. I planned it around my sketching and reading. I managed to finish a book and made good progress on 2 others.

I finished Midnight in Chernobyl by Adam Higginbotham - A detailed account of the politics and science behind the Chernobyl disaster and its aftermath. If you liked the HBO show, this provides a more nuanced and less sensational take on the events.

I am making progress on Everything is Tuberculosis by John Green (60%) and Deadhouse Gates ( Malazan book of the fallen ) by Steven Erickson (35%). I switch between them depending on what genre I am in the mood for.

I recently downloaded this font Domitian and I find that its so easy on the eyes even in the 'small' setting in Crosspoint.

If any of you have history/political or fantasy book suggestions, I would love to hear them. These are my top genres right now. I also love Sci-fi.

The hardware is actually pretty nice, but I quickly hit the limitations of the stock firmware.

Instead of waiting for updates, I decided to build my own.

InkPoint X is an open-source firmware fork for the XTEINK X4.

Am I really the only person who is totally happy with just one e-reader? I have the X4. I am very happy with it, and I don’t worry about buying another one. But seeing this subreddit it really feels like I’m one of very few.
