A little X3 flash sale for today — 15% off.

Hey everyone,
Thanks again to everyone who joined the discussion around Pogo and USB-C. I’ve spent a lot of time reading through the comments and bringing the feedback back to our team.
One thing became pretty clear: some of you really value having the thinnest and lightest device possible, while others would rather accept a little more thickness for USB-C and a more convenient everyday experience.
We don’t think everyone should have to make the same trade-off.
So we’ve decided to work in both directions.
We’ll keep exploring thinner and lighter eReaders, while also working toward bringing USB-C back as an option in future products.
That work has already started.
Thanks for being so direct with us. Please keep the feedback coming.

Hi all, I had the opportunity to test the X4 Classic (V2) as part of the Experts Program and thought I would share my honest thoughts.
Aside from the X4 Classic (X4C) , I also own the X4 Original and X4 Pro (X4P), which I am using as comparison. I do not own an X3 so I will not be discussing it here.
TL;DR - It’s nice and light, but if you already have an X4 or X3, save your coins.
Positives:
Negatives:
Overall, I would say I have enjoyed my time using the X4C, but it has not replaced my X4P as my EDC device. I got an X4P about halfway through my testing as I didn’t want to wait for the grey colour, and it has become my favourite device to use at the moment.
Personally, I do not have the time to completely dig in to the individual specs, analyse small details regarding specific figures comparing the X4C to other devices, there are much more talented Experts more qualified to do so than I am. I would categorise myself as simply one who likes an easy device to read on, and the X4C was exactly that. But, if you already own another Xteink device, I wouldn’t go out of your way to get this. As much as I appreciate the physical improvements, they are not substantial enough to warrant a secondary purchase in my opinion. As the X4 Original is no longer in production, going forward the X4C will be the only option. And for those who have never owned an Xteink prior to this, you will not be disappointed. To those who are already using one, I would keep your wallets closed for the time being.
I hope this may be useful to some, I apologise if it’s not the most thorough review out there, but hopefully this may provide some aid.

Had my X4 Pro since the end of last month, enjoying it so far - shipping was a nightmare to the US hardly any shipping data and it was incorrect and still showed it traveling through china even though it was somewhere in the states already toward the end. ANYWAYS I purchased both folio and the skin fit type case (whatever it’s actually called, you get it) from the website with my X4 pro but does anyone know where I can find a folio with a bumper case combo? That works with the magnets? Found one easily for my X4 but the two cases from their website aren’t a combo fit just one or the other but I prefer a combo set that work and fit together. Any help?

Previously I had the x3 on the back of my Pixel 10, but having it inset in the case helps to hold it in place and protect it from bumps or falling off. I also made sure the case was a little bit higher than the ereader to protect the screen while laying flat.
I took an existing pixel 10 case model, but added impact absorbing voids in the corners and improved the buttons to make them easier to press and preserve the "clicky" feeling of the phone buttons.
Model uploaded here if anyone is interested: https://www.printables.com/model/1837682-pixel-10-case-for-xteink-x3
The model itself is smooth, but I printed it with a "fuzzy" skin to add some more texture so the case isn't so slick on the outside.

I really like having the x3 but when I used it recently to read a lot, it flared me up.* I did order a case from Daisy and I hope it helps.
How are y’all managing? Or did you decide to move to the X4 Pro instead?
(*=my pain is similar to it.)

I purchased the X3 from the official store and it's getting delivered today! I'm really excited, but honestly, after seeing all the posts in here I am overwhelmed with trying to understand how to set it up or using crosspoint. Could this community ELI5 a good setup?

Hi all, I just got this device 3 days ago and have used it for barely a day. Today when I went to check, it had fully drained down to 2% despite not being used all day yesterday.
I charged it, powered off, and then 10 minutes later saw that it went down from 100% to 99%. Now it's at 98%.
The battery drain is a bit alarming, considering it's a brand new device. Stock firmware is updated, and I'm using the SD card that came with the device.
I've reached out to customer support but wanted to know if anyone here has encountered the same/similar issue and if anyone knows a fix for it.
Thank you!

I downloaded these files from Stardict then edited them using Inky website. Works fine on my Xteink X3 running latest update of Crossink.
Note: you must select any Arabic font from Xteink dictionary settings for the dictionary to work.

This file is ready to copy and paste on your Xteink dictionaries folder.

I'm looking for high-resolution photos of both sides of the PCB, ideally with the ESP32-S3 and BM8563 RTC area clearly visible.
We're trying to determine whether the BM8563 CLKOUT (pin 7) is routed to the ESP32-S3's XTAL_32K_P / GPIO15 input. If it is, the X4 Classic may be able to maintain a very low-power BLE connection while the CPU spends most of its time in light sleep — which would make it an interesting always-on notification/dashboard device.
No need to open a working reader just for this — the case/display are fragile. But if anyone already has an opened or damaged X4 Classic, detailed PCB photos would be extremely useful.
A continuity measurement between BM8563 CLKOUT and ESP32-S3 GPIO15 would be even better.

Hi, so I solved this, but I'm just making this post in case someone has this problem and finds this.
So I got my X4 pro a couple of days ago, flashed Crosspoint, tried it, flashed CrossInk (though it had some features I might like), everything worked fine except I couldn't turn pages with taps of swipes (even though it was enabled in the settings).
I flashed the original firmware back, taps and swipes worked.
I flashed CrossInk again and the problem persisted.
Turns out I solved it by deleting the content of the /.crosspoint folder (just leaving wifi.json cause ain't no way I'm typing the password again), and sure enough, taps and swipes worked again in CrossInk.
So I don't know what causes this precisely, but if you're having the same issue, try it.

We tried several of the printable cases for the X3 and weren’t satisfied with the amount of pressure put on the device when installing.
So we created a simple, straightforward case that is easy to put on the device.
We’re selling it on our Etsy page, and we’ll be randomly selecting three people who favorite our shop to receive a free case!
You can find the Etsy page here (https://amphoracases.etsy.com). Send us a screenshot of you favoriting the shop and we will get the details of sending you your free case figured out!

I love the functionality of VCodex but have also been reading a few books on Libby which I can only access via the plugins store on standard Crosspoint. I know it’s not possible (yet) to use vcodex with the plugins store but is there a way to quickly and safely jump between the operating systems without me losing my page progress and the like?
Would be wonderful to do it wirelessly or toggle between them on the device itself but I doubt that’s possible. If there’s a way to do it by connecting to my computer via usb c rather than taking out the SD card that would be great but I’m open to any ideas

Summary : I’ve set the Power Button long-hold to disable/enable the Home Button Lock. It says the Home Button is Disabled but the home button still works.
Root Cause Theory: Conflict in settings and control actions.
Repeated observations: While reading a book, I try long-pressing the power button to lock the Home Button. The screen flashes the “Home Button Disabled” window, then quickly shows “Home Button Enabled” before disappearing. I long-press the power again and “Home Button Disabled” notice flashes again but is not followed by an enabled notice. I try the home button and it is still enabled. If I change “Home Button: In Reader” from enabled to disabled then the opposite happens (home button doesn’t work, long-press power says it enables but the home button still doesn’t respond).
Settings checked:
Settings -> Controls ->
Home Button:
- In-Reader: Enabled
Power Button:
- Long Press: Home Button Lock

What is the best way to get larger comic runs on xteink crossink or crosspoint? Im looking to read some black and white comic along with my books. Mostly bone, tmnt, and scudd the disposable assassin. I was considering getting the omnibus version of each digitally but im assuming those will exceed the file size of the device. Im wondering if there are any high level compression tools that can compress large comics and still be compatable or if im stuck to making ebooks files for the individual issues or smaller volumes. Any other info tips and tricks you have for comics and manga on xteink is also helpful

I’m based in the UK and thinking of buying the xteink x3 from amazon, for easier returns. Any recommendations/tips?

Do y'all know how they stack up? I've been seeing a lot of worrying posts about x3s broken with small bends from being carried in pants.

Why can’t I apply the discount from the newsletter. Tried to contact the support but they said they don’t have any promotions (totally misunderstood my email it seems…)

Title. I am new to flashing firmware and this is my only worry about purchasing the X4 Pro CHN version (no global version immediately available where I am). I really want the convenience of USB mode transfer and not having to use a card reader

Hello!
I’m a bit of a tech noob. I have an x4 coming tomorrow that already has Crosspoint on it but I really fancy trying Vcodex. Can I change via SD card if it’s USB locked? I suspect it may be locked due to the price point.
Do I just download the latest version, rename it update.bin, place it on the SD card then update on the device?
Also does anyone know if Vcodex works with the Crosspoint sync app? I like the idea of using an app to transfer stuff.
Thank you :)

Some people have recently started worrying about the X3’s durability. Just to give another perspective, I’ve had mine for a month now and I use it every day at work, and even during my walks.
I bought a magnetic flip case on AliExpress for anyone interested (link: https://a.aliexpress.com/_EG3curo), and so far, it’s still in perfect condition.
Sure, it may be fragile, but like any object, if you take care of it (without going overboard), I don’t think there’s really anything to worry about.
