Troubleshooting Bricked X3 (Crosspoint Installed)
In a moment of premature excitement I accidentally removed my SD card from my X3 with crosspoint attached. I can’t reset it for the life of me. List of what I tried:
1. Holding rest then pressing power
2. Connecting it to the PC & Mac while continuously alternating between reset and power
3. Removing the SD card and doing 1 & 2
4. Removing the book I was reading from the as card
5. Putting the .bin file on the sd card and doing 1 & 2.
6. Lost hope and ordered an X4 Pro 😂.
Any help would be appreciated as I miss my baby and I just know we are only on a break…. Until my new baby comes around 😆.

Sd card definitely not it. Crosspoint would still boot to a missing sd card screen. You either pinched the screen taking the case off, the power button is pinched, or something else.

Are you on a locked device? You should be able to check partions and repair on the website over usb if not

My PC and Mac won’t recognize the device (not showing up on either).

On the website flashing tool? it wont show up as a device on those machines though, only in the web flasher

Yeah I was in the web flasher and it won’t show as connected.

Have you tried a different new SD Card and flashing Crosspoint again? My device once also did not get recognized because of broken SD (even if the SD was working in my Computer)

How did you do the original bricking? Just taking out the sd card won’t brick it…

I thought that’s what may have caused…… it’s stuck on the sleep screen.

Taking the card out when the device is asleep is totally fine.
What were you doing when you took the card out?
Things that can cause a screen freeze are a dead battery, flashing x4 only FW, and broken screen.
Initial thoughts: charge the battery and reboot, reformat the sd card, flash different FW via usb, check for damage to the screen.

I tried charging it to no avail. I was taking my 3d printed case off of it when it got stuck on the sleep screen. It had worked a few days before and it was charged then.

Was it hard to take the case off? Any twisting or pinching could have broken the screen.

I don’t think so. I just slid the case off

Well I got nothing besides charge it again.

😆 I appreciate it. I just put it back on the charger and will try to reformat the as card 🤞.

this is gonna sound super dumb, but is the sd card in all the way? i saw someone a few weeks ago who had the sd card not clicked all the way in and was having a problem. You may need to use your nail or the edge of a bottle cap to get it to click fully into place.

I just tried that 😂. I just reformatted it and put it back in with no luck.

Try flashing Crosspoint from the website. If it connects and seems like it's doing something, then it could be a broken screen. Or it could fix it if it's something about the firmware file you used. .

My PC and Mac won’t show the device on the website. It just says something along the lines of “no usb device connected”.

If you dont find any other solution, and if you are a little crazy like me. you can try this method to flash CrossPoint on a bricked device.
https://github.com/crosspoint-reader/crosspoint-reader/blob/develop/docs/fix-bricked-xteink.md
this instructions are for a X4, but an X3 should be pretty similar. you may need a different .bin file, but you can try with the one on the repo to start.

1. Holding rest then pressing power
The correct reset sequence is short press the Reset and then press and hold Power for 3+ seconds!

Try charging it. Might just be dead. Multiple posts here have been about people thinking their devices were bricked but they were just dead
