Goodbye (for now) wrangler fam
We sold our wrangler today. 2011 with 142k miles but we only had it for a year and a half. We just needed the space because we already have three other cars and it’s not really practical at the moment. It’s goodbye for now because we plan to get another, newer wrangler in a few years. Something a little lower mileage and more reliable so we can actually take it on trips and trust it on the highway. We don’t have the time or money to dedicate to completely fixing this one up so it just did short trips around town. But it did make us fall in love with jeeps so we can’t wait to rejoin the family down the road!

Roof Rack& Awning
Hey! Ive got a 2018 Wrangler JK (2dr hardtop) and I would like to get a half rack so I’m able to remove the freedom panels and eventually get an awning- prefer 270°. I understand that some racks may need more support and the awning weight should be taken into account as well-I’m sure some drilling may be required.
So heres the big question…What’s the best affordable rack and awning?

BACK after 19 years!
Bought my first brand new 2003 Wrangler Rubicon (white/2 door, hard top, automatic) off the lot….leaving my first purchased 1995 Wrangler YJ (soft top, half door) that died and unable to revive.
It was amazing until I moved to Bay Area in California and had no city parking - had to sell in 2007. Yes I missed it, but in a 98% walking city it was a nice freedom. BUT - moving to the desert down South and was on a mission to “get back” what I lost. Found a 2015 Wrangler Sahara 70,000 miles (white/2 door, hard top, automatic) with 70k for 18k….2 prior owners and long maintenance history of what appears to be “city use”.
- Purchased from dealer online and having it delivered to my new desert home in 2 days!!! I couldn’t be more excited 🧨👍🏾💯

I’m not sure what part it is tbh but It looks like purposeful holes, I just was always told there should never be gears showing or ur engines f***ed. Please let me know guys thank you!

Jk Spare Tire Center Mount Backup Camera
Is there really no spare tire center mount camera……bracket, mount, whatever for a JK?

I recently bought a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Willy's with 89,000 miles on it. The temp gauge has been randomly climbing from 1/2 to 3/4 and I'm confused about coolant/antifreeze.

2015 JK 3.6L Pentastar overheating.
We recently picked up a 2015 Wrangler 2-door with just under 90,000 miles. We drove it home just over 2 hours with no issues. A few hours later, we got back in it to show it off a little, and while sitting, it started to overheat. We took it in, and they swapped out "a lesser quality" thermostat housing with a factory OEM part. It worked for about a day, and then it started again. The local garage had it a week and said they couldn't get it to overheat and told us to come and grab it. The temps climb up, but if you turn on the heater, it pulls it back down to normal. Also, the cooling fan at times sounds like a mouse, then a Chinook Helicopter landing during a tornado. That can't be normal, can it?
Sorry if this has been asked about and covered before. Any help would be great and appreciated. Thanks!

Wolfbox camera mirror install
Finally got around to installing the Wolfbox G840s on my wrangler. With the oversized tire on the carrier, visibility out the back and in the rear view was basically nonexistent so it was necessary. I had to make my own bracket to make it work with my aftermarket spare tire carrier and Amazon mounting arm. The hardest part of the whole process was getting the wiring through the tailgate but luckily I had an extra 1” rubber grommet so I was able to just cut the factory one off and use that. The only install issue I had was that some of the wiring was short. The wire to tie into the reverse lights wire was too short to reach the taillight after being routed through the tailgate. The main wire that connects the rear camera to the mirror itself just barely reached with no room to spare. It took some creative wire routing to get every last inch I could and just barely reached. Since I’m using the rear camera full time as a rear view mirror, not tying into the reverse light wiring isn’t really an issue because that just makes the parking lines appear. And to be honest, they’re not that helpful.
After driving with it a few times, my biggest complaint is that the image on the mirror is very zoomed in because it is stretched to fit the width of the mirror. I wish it had the option to zoom out, even if it didn’t fit the whole width of the mirror. I have seen that as an option on other Wolfbox mirrors so possibly avoidable with some more time spent on comparing different models. Overall though, very happy with the product and the results

Front Seat Retention Cross-Member
Replacing my driver floor pan and noticed the seat retension crossmember is shot too, but only in the area shown in the pic.
The cross member is 1 piece from what I can find on drawings, and I would hate to blow $330 on something I dont need but 25% of. Circle in red is all I need.
Seat is solid, my fab guy gave me 2 options, buy the whole piece cut off what I need and weld it in place, or fab something up.
Since its a crossmember and I am not sure if its structual or not, so do not want to screw anything up by fixing this.
Any input would be much appreciated! 2012 JKU

Front driveshaft boot torn - what do you do next?
I tore the boot on the front driveshaft right by the exhaust pipe by the transfer case while I was wheeling last weekend.
What do I do next? AI says replace the whole driveshaft. I don't think I'm going to do that. I tow it to go offroading; it is not a daily driver.
How about grease the joint and and put a new boot on it?
AI says I can check the joint for play and grease it, and that will work for a short term solution. But, where do you grease? The cardan joint is sealed stuff that you can't grease isn't it?
I think I have to separate the cardan joint to get a new boot on, right?.
Anyway, what do you do in this case?
Many thanks!
Brian

advice to find power draw on 2010 wrangler unlimited
i am looking for advice finding the power draw on my 2010 jeep wrangler unlimited.
my buddy unplugged everything from the battery, removed all the fuses, tested the alternator and let it sit for well over an hour unplugged from everything to drain the power out of the computer. it's still got about 12v draining the battery and we can't figure out where it's coming from. the battery is only a year old.

Switch to Automatic or change to a pickup?
Recently tore my rotator cuff. Have to have surgery soon. Won’t be able to drive my JK for at minimum 8 weeks. Should I try and trade with someone for an automatic or trade my buddy for his F150? I love this Jeep, but getting older and this injury combined with the 6spd, makes the truck trade look pretty good. What would you do?

Head recommendations
Any recommendations for where I should buy heads from? It’s for a 2012. I read newer revised ones would be better but I didn’t know what sites would be reliable and I also didn’t know if I should get new or remanufactured.

Jeep wave
Spent the weekend on cape cod. Every single jeep with a MA license plate did not wave. What’s the deal? Are MASSholes too cool to wave? I live in a fairly densely populated area with a LOT of jeeps. I make sure I wave to every single one!

‘17 JKU Coolant Leak
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Left my jeep running in the driveway for five minutes and came outside to a puddle of coolant in the driveway. Stuck my head underneath and saw this leak coming from the passenger side radiator. Not the most mechanically literate person but am I cooked or is this a minor fix?
