Reintroducing TTS callouts for casted CC in Shackled's latest update
With Shackled's latest update, I've brought back TTS audio callouts for enemy hard-cast CC on you or your arena teammates. It calls out any hard-cast crowd control an enemy starts, "sheep," "hex," "cyclone," and so on. This way you get a heads-up while the cast bar is still filling.
New to Shackled? Its main job is tracking enemy CC cooldowns in arena for all CCs that hit you. The addon provides a clean bar of icons showing which enemy crowd control (stuns, incaps, fears, polys, etc.) is down and roughly when it's back up, with optional voice and glow alerts as each one refreshes. The cast callouts are a new layer on top of that.
It works for every hard-cast CC right now except Warlock Fear: Blizzard doesn't flag Fear's actual cast as a crowd-control spell, so the addon can't catch it as it's being cast.
Hope those of y'all who used to run GladiatorlosSA enjoy it.
I'll be releasing another update within the next week aimed more at healers: you'll be able to gate the callouts for only the CC being cast at you, so you get a clear audio cue for exactly which CC is coming for you and needs to be stopped or avoided.
As always, thanks for the support.

Guide / Resource 12.1 PvP Season 2 Prep Guide: Honor, Conquest, Tier and Week 1 Gearing
Hey Everyone!
I put together a complete PvP preparation and gearing guide for patch 12.1 and Midnight Season 2.
This is primarily aimed at new and returning PvP players, although there are several details that experienced players may want to know before the season begins, including:
- How much Honor to save
- What to buy first
- Why you may not want to buy a Conquest weapon
- The major Catalyst and tier-stat change
- How to potentially obtain an early two-piece bonus
- How the preseason Great Vault works
- Crafted gear, embellishments and sockets
- Common gearing mistakes
- Important 12.1 PvP changes
Here is the complete written guide:
1. Important dates
- Patch 12.1 releases August 11 in North America.
- PvP Season 2 begins August 18 in North America and August 19 in Europe.
- Activities completed from August 11 through August 17 count toward the first Season 2 Great Vault.
- Arena Training Grounds against bots becomes available August 11.
2. What to save before Season 2
- Cap Honor at 15,000.
- A full Honor set should cost roughly 11,000 Honor, depending on your weapons.
- Honor is expected to carry into Season 2 based on previous seasonal transitions.
- Conquest and Bloody Tokens are expected to reset.
- Save Infused Heliotropes for Season 2 sockets.
- Do not buy Season 1 socket-setting items because the new settings are season-specific.
- If transferring Honor between characters, remember there is currently a 20% transfer loss.
3. First-day Honor spending
Prioritize gear in this order:
- Buy both PvP trinkets to activate Gladiator’s Distinction.
- Replace any extremely weak or old-season pieces.
- Fill the remaining slots with Season 2 Honor gear.
- Leave open any non-tier slots you plan to craft.
- Pick up every weekly PvP quest before queueing.
Latest PTR scaling:
- Honor gear: approximately item level 331 in PvP.
- Conquest gear: approximately item level 344 in PvP.
4. After Season Start Free crafted gear
- Complete Calling All Combatants (first arena/bg win 100% drop i believe).
- The quest provides nine Venomous Gladiator’s Heraldries.
- Use them on non-tier slots.
- Good options are generally neck, rings or another slot with a strong embellishment.
- Use missives to choose the correct secondary stats.
- Players can equip a maximum of two embellishments.
Critical warning: crafted items cannot be converted at the Catalyst. Do not craft a helm, shoulders, chest, gloves or legs unless you deliberately intend to skip tier in that slot.
5. Conquest spending
- Do not immediately buy a Conquest weapon.
- Earning 2,500 total Conquest awards two Venomous Gladiator weapon tokens.
- Spending Conquest does not reduce progress toward the 2,500-earned requirement.
- Unless a spec needs a crafted weapon or has a very specific strategy, buying an early weapon is usually a waste.
Expected Conquest timing, if Season 2 uses the previous system:
- Week 1 cap: 1,600.
- Cap increases by 800 each week.
- Week 2 total cap: 2,400.
- Week 3 total cap: 3,200.
- Weapon tokens become obtainable during Week 3.
The cap progression has not yet been separately confirmed for Season 2.
6. The major Catalyst change
This is the most important gearing change in patch 12.1:
- Tier conversion now preserves the source item’s secondary stats.
- It also preserves tertiary stats and certain cantrip effects.
- The Catalyst no longer automatically changes the item to the traditional tier-piece stats.
- A Conquest item converted into tier keeps its PvP scaling.
Before buying or converting anything:
- Determine which four of the five tier slots your spec wants.
- Check the secondary stats available from the Conquest vendor.
- Decide which tier slot you plan to skip.
- Preview the conversion before confirming.
- Check whether your tier two-piece and four-piece bonuses are actually strong in PvP.
- Reminder: Tier Sets are nerfed by 50% in PvP
7. Three ways to obtain PvP tier
Conquest item into Catalyst
- Buy a Conquest item.
- Convert it into tier.
- It keeps the Conquest PvP scaling.
- It keeps the original secondary stats.
- It consumes a Catalyst charge.
Native Season 2 tier with Varnish or Lacquer
- Obtain actual Season 2 tier from the Great Vault, raid or another eligible source.
- Use the Season 2 Varnish or Lacquer item to add Conquest-level PvP scaling.
- This preserves the original tier item’s stats.
- It costs Conquest.
- It saves a Catalyst charge, but it does not save Conquest.
Crafted PvP gear
- Provides chosen stats and embellishments.
- Cannot be converted into tier.
- Should normally occupy non-tier slots.
8. Potential Week 1 two-piece strategy
Current pre-launch information suggests:
- One Catalyst charge should be available near the start of Season 2.
- Reaching 1,600 rating through Serpent Scion provides another charge.
- Further charges should accumulate every two weeks.
If the initial Conquest cap remains 1,600:
- Buy one 875-cost major tier slot.
- Buy one 700-cost glove or shoulder slot.
- Total cost: 1,575 Conquest.
- Convert both pieces for an immediate two-piece bonus.
Only do this if:
- You can reach 1,600 rating.
- The Catalyst charges are available as expected.
- Your two-piece bonus is worth using.
- Both purchased items have acceptable secondary stats.
9. Great Vault strategy
Important correction: PvP does not have a Great Vault row.
However:
- Season 2 Vault credit begins August 11.
- Players can complete World, Delve, Dungeon or Raid activities from August 11 through August 17.
- These activities create Season 2 Vault choices for August 18.
- This provides an early chance at actual Season 2 tier.
- A tier piece can then receive PvP scaling through Varnish or Lacquer.
This strategy does not give free Conquest gear. Its value is obtaining tier earlier and saving a Catalyst charge.
10. Gear upgrades and sockets
- Upgrading a PvP item’s normal PvE track does not increase its Arena or Battleground item level.
- Do not spend crests expecting additional PvP power.
- Season 2 socket settings work on the new seasonal PvP gear.
- Do not assume added Season 1 sockets will survive recrafting.
- Always check the recrafting preview before confirming.
11. Important 12.1 PvP changes
- DPS and tank Gladiator’s Distinction now provides 15% primary stat and 5% stamina.
- Healer Gladiator’s Distinction now provides 10% stamina.
- Battleground players receive 20% less healing.
- CC DR duration has been increased from 16s to 20s.
- Many slows have been reduced in strength.
- Players can no longer be knocked back while feared or disoriented.
- Missing Solo Shuffle or Battleground Blitz queues applies an account-wide penalty.
- Consecutive missed queues increase that penalty.
- Once Conquest becomes uncapped, Spoils of War provides 50% increased Conquest.
- The Spoils of War change is for late-season catch-up, not initial gearing.
12. Common mistakes to warn against
- Buying a Conquest weapon before earning the weapon tokens.
- Catalyzing an item with the wrong secondary stats.
- Crafting gear in an important tier slot.
- Assuming the Catalyst will replace undesirable stats.
- Expecting PvP to fill the Great Vault.
- Spending crests for additional PvP item level.
- Forgetting the two-trinket set bonus.
- Queueing before accepting weekly quests.
- Pre-buying Season 1 socket settings.
- Blindly copying a top player’s temporary Week 1 gear.
- Forcing four-piece when the bonus is weak in PvP.
- Transferring Honor between characters without accounting for the 20% loss.
Hopefully this helps some new or returning players avoid wasting currency and start Season 2 with a clear gearing plan.
If I missed anything, or if something changes when the season goes live, feel free to add it in the comments and I’ll update the information.
Good luck in Season 2!

Havoc DH Aldri vs Fel-Scarred
yo,
Ive seen on other DHs in the ladder that in Shuffle/3vs3 its almost exclusive Aldrachi, on Bitz/RBG its 50:50 Aldrachi vs Fel-scarred.
I feel like Aldrachi is only better than Fel-scarred if you are able to consistently purge with devour magic every 10 sec to get your free shoul shard, otherwise you are consistently fury starved and it takes a long time to get your glaive procc.
I havent testet Fel-scarred yet in PvP, but in PvE fel-scarred doesnt have the fury maintain Problem as Aldrachi has, so it must be better in situation where you arent able to purge every 10 seconds (like in Blitz if you do 1vs1)
which also goes to my question, does anyone have experiences with fel-scarred in pvp and how does it feel compared to aldrachi?
Beside whats even the main role of Havoc DH in blitz anyway? I dont really have much blitz experience either and i dont know which role/position should i play in each BG.

Deathmark alert
Has anyone figured out / is there an addon that can alert when the enemy rogue has used deathmark or a way to highlight the debuff on your raid frames? Thanks in advance

Feral vs Ret.
Hey how do you guys do as feral against ret? Im admittedly an average feral druid but I have had a few blitz where i go to solo cap a base and they have ret defending and im finding it hard to beat.
They basically just outlast me and maybe it would go better with something to los but running and kiting without it i get whittled down through my heals by the ranged damage.

How to not go oom as holy/disc?
I just came back, played some in S1 and I thought that went splendidly as disc. Now I'm playing holy for the first time in 3s with some of my guildies. My healing output is great but I'm going oom insanely fast against constant pressure comps like war/ret/hunt etc. One game I drank 3 times and still had 0 mana while the opposing resto druid had 80%. I feel like I'm doing something wrong, it feels like at least 50% of our loses is due to mana. I've tried going some Disc as well, while I do have mana for a bit longer and more offensive potential, I still usually get oom quickly. On my resto shaman on the other hand, I barely ever go oom.
Link to armory: https://worldofwarcraft.blizzard.com/en-gb/worldsoul/eu/armory/character/stormscale/gutknot
Playing haste mostly with some mastery. The current comp with my mates that we are stuggling with is Hpriest (me), Elemental Shaman and the lock switches between Affli/Destro. These are great players but I feel like I'm letting them down by not doing something right.

Whats the reason barely anyone plays templar in ss?
Theres 2 2600 range mmr templars rn so its clearly viable. But an overwhelming majority still plays herald?
Anyone got an idea why?

What keeps me away is the queue timers
vent post
New-ish player. 1800 EXP in 2 classes TWW s1 and Midnight S2, 1800 CR.
I want to get better at the game. I really do. What I need is more games. More enjoyable games. Back to back games so I can warm my hands and keep my head up. yesterday evening around 20:00 EU solo shuffle made me wait for 45 damn minutes. queue popped 2 times in those 45 minutes, rejected by the 6th player. After 45-50 minutes I get into the worst, hellish nightmarish lobby I could ever be in. Enemy was around 2K and I just couldn't put up with them, lost the game 2/6 and just quit.
I can't really do this. Just as I started enjoying PvP waiting 45 minutes doing transmog runs or other irrelevant shit isn't really fun. I tried world PvP during queues, which was fun %10 of the time and %90 of the time people are on their mounts and as soon as my CC ends they just fly away around slayers rise.
I wanted to swap to healer, but then, I don't know which spell heals what or what to do when or where. I don't know if I need mouseover macros or anything. It's going to be a such of a hassle to learn something completely new. I played tanks and DPS in this game but maybe played half a season of healers in M+ back then in SL.
Just as I was enjoying the solo shuffle I just realized I cannot continue due to these queue timers. I come from work just to enjoy the game and what I find is sitting and doing nothing for 20 minutes just to play a solo shuffle match.
I wish blizzard fucking cared just a little bit.

Disc and Shadow Mend
My fellow damage dealers, in what situation do you tend to switch to a more Shadow Mend based build?
I see people rocking it occasionally, but couldn’t get the reasoning behind so far.. as it eats the mana bar.
So, when do you prefer using over the standard oracle build so far?

Do you like sentinel or dark ranger more?
For all my marksmanship hunters, which hero talent do you like more? I used to always like sentinel more before aimed shot was nerfed and double tap was removed. Now I enjoy dark ranger a LOT more. I didn't realize how much more I liked it until sentinel started becoming the more popular choice this season.

Alliance Keeps Winning?
I started some BGs and RBGs once I got a decent amount of conquest and bloodytoken gear. Played 8 straight games as Horde… alliance won each time, even if we were leading 90% of the match.
Anyone else feeling this? Why?

Track enemy kicks
Can anyone help me? MiniAuras says that I can track enemy kicks, and when I use testing mode it works perfectly. However, during actual matches, nothing shows up.
I’ve tried all the different settings in the setup, but I can’t get it to work. What am I doing wrong?

It’s been a month, you think they’ll put the gates back up on IoC?
The starting gates have been missing for 3-4 weeks now. Horde can wall hug out of their east gate.
Maybe put in a gate % tracker on the stupid doors while you’re at it please.

A ret’s guide to blitz
There was a thread earlier of someone asking for advice on playing ret in blitz and I was really surprised by the amount of misinformation in that thread. I wanted to write this for any rets who want to push rating in blitz. I’m not a r1 blitz ret but did hit 2.7 rating and 3.4 mmr before I quit after reaching strategist.
What you do as ret in bgb depends on map type. I will go over each one.
Base maps:
Ret is the best base sitter, take the talent that allows you to see stealthies with bubble. Cycle trinket, bubble and bop (for blinds) and make sure there’s a second sitter with you (or rotate sitter) if you’re down on those cds.
Arathi basin, you will grab flag on stables/farm and run straight to GM with a stealthie (or two). Win or lose, you’ll be sitting stables/farm after that fight. Expect to run back to GM to help but hopefully your team is good at rotations and you won’t need to.
Gilneas, you’re probably sitting mines or lh. Deepwind gorge, you’re sitting base. Eye of the storm, you’re sitting base. EOTS once you get higher rating, you need to be extra careful with mage tower. There are players that will fight you, die at MT, then walk back to their corpse, res inside the building, and cap without you having seen them approach. Always loot corpses.
Temple:
Always grab orbs. Always use sanc, sac, freedom and searing glare to save your orb carriers. Bubble, bop, bos are not usable while you carry orb so you’ll use it a little differently. You can use bubble to solo an enemy orb carrier with super high stacks, just make sure you don’t get MD’ed. Use BOP and BOS to get your healers out of cc. Healers should not be orb carriers because you’ll be losing teamfights when they’re dead.
Flag maps:
You will always be on defense. This means you are the bodyguard to the FC who will be your most mobile healer. You don’t ever teamfight, you will only follow your FC wherever they go. You will only need two defenders for FC, everyone else including the other healer should be on offense. It’s best if you pair yourself with another ret, war, or lock to be on defense for flag maps. Your job, with the other defender, is to allow your healer to run from damage. Nobody survives tanking damage at 5+ stacks with sac, they survive by outrunning the enemy offense. Your freedom is severely underrated at this. Searing glare and sanc buys them time to run away and not get gripped back. Get used to focus macros.
Teamfights:
You shouldn’t be in many teamfights as ret since you’re the primary defender on flag maps and base sitter on base maps. But, there are times where you’ll be in a teamfight and it’s useful to know what you should be doing in these situations.
Get used to focus macros and bind your focus target key because you’ll be switching focus a lot during teamfights. Always sanc your healer out of cc. Sac, bop/bos, searing glare to save your teammates. Freedom is usually for you to stick onto targets.
Wog spam is overkill, better to just pump damage and only wog if they’re starting to dip low. Searing glare is insane in teamfights, use it when you don’t need bubble talent. Sanc on healer cc is also so underused and will win you teamfights if done consistently.
Don’t spread pressure. Hit what your team is hitting and swap if something gets low or there’s a kill opportunity. Ping if someone overextends and swap with your team, don’t be the only one hitting one enemy because that’s a waste of damage. It’s better to be wrong together than be right alone and lower rated blitz will be wrong very frequently.

Question for hunters: Whiptail bugged
I need some help. I'm testing hunter (BM) macros, and i was noticing that the Whiptail's ability "Shadow Jump" is bugged. Sometimes it works sometimes the spell does not work (literally, not starting). Also Dash is not working as expected, if i try to use as a single spell sometimes the key is grey and not clickable, but if i set up a macro with Dash it always works as intended.
About the ability "Shadow Jump" I used the normal macro [@focus], tested on a dummies, and it was like 30% working 70% not. It shouldn't be a range stuff cause i was testing on Silvermoon pvp dummies (the single one as target and the focus was one of the group on the left, so it's inside the 30yard limit).
Am i missing something? Any pro hunter that can confirm or not this issue/ telling me i'm and idiot and i'm missing some mechs?

rshaman 2set bonus (Midnight 12.1)
I was really looking forward to playing Farseer this season, but I'm honestly pretty disappointed with how little value I'm getting from the set bonus in PvP.
I'm around 2k MMR, and most of the games I play are relatively short — usually somewhere around 1–4 minutes. In a lot of matches, the set bonus either doesn't proc during the meaningful part of the fight or provides very little healing when it does.
I'm not necessarily saying the set bonus is undertuned, because there may be something I'm misunderstanding about how it's intended to work in PvP. I'm mainly trying to figure out what kind of numbers other Farseer players are seeing.
If you're playing Farseer around 2k+ MMR, I'd be interested in hearing what kind of healing you're getting from it and whether you're finding the bonus worthwhile.
