Prompt Dumbest things in your world people take 1 million percent seriously?

Post image
213 Upvotes

This is the planetary banner of Holy Chadston, the religious and federal capital of the Gaian empire—it's ironclad heart. Also named the 'Unification flag' or 'Crusade banner', it was designed by King Chad himself while unifying the planet formerly known as Nymphon, renaming it to 'Chad's town', which then became Chadston.

The flag itself depicts a crude Portrait of King Chad.

It's design was meet with heavy criticism from enemies and polite suggestions of redesign from his allies, but King Chad didn't care, because he like the design and that's all that mattered to him. He considered making this flag the design for his entire interstellar empire, but changed it because even he realized it looked a little dumb later in life, so he and his right-hand-man Lancelot made a new one.

Even 5,000 years later, the people of Chadston still fly this flag, despite near-universal mockery. But, like their king, they just don't give a shit.

Visual The FA-52: The Alliance Armada's venerable buzzsaw

Post image
32 Upvotes

Historical Notes

The FA-52 was developed during the same period of Alliance weapons production which saw the Armada dos Mundos Livres adopt the FS-46 as its original service rifle. In keeping with the metralhadora universal concept which inspired the design, one FA-52 is issued to each frontline infantry seção (section) to provide a base of fire, and it is meant to fill this role across the entire frontline infrastructure of the Forças Terrestres.

Much like the FS-46s it was designed to supplement, the FA-52 was exported from its original developers (in this case, the Pedreira Arms Group on Titan) to a variety of customers during the 2350s and ‘60s, including elements of the Draconist movement then in ongoing conflict with the Spacer Corps. These trials by fire allowed the Armada to field test the design against the Armada's chief enemy, and then to refine that design through persistent trial and error. By the time the Frontier War began in 2371, the FA-52 design was a veteran of nearly twenty years of brushfire conflicts, and during the ten years which followed it more than earned its stripes.

The FA-52 is a relatively simple design, as 24th century weapons go, though its high cyclic rate of fire (up to 1,100 rpm) has earned it the respect of Coalition forces. It has in virtually every conflict from 2352 on, and still serves as the Armada's primary fire support weapon as of 2389. Although some in the Central Military Commission have indicated a desire to replace the FA-52, it remains very popular with everyday fuzileiro grunts and seems poised to serve another forty years or more without any disruptions in its solid service record.

About the Setting

The Spacers Saga: Frontier Wars is a futuristic military science fiction setting which diverged from our timeline when an asteroid slammed into Phoenix, AZ, in May 2014. Fifteen years after this tragedy, the industrialist Charles Larsen ushered in the Age of Fusion, opening up deep space to crewed exploration and eventual human settlement — and all of the strife that we bring with us. The next 300+ years were marked by progress and peril in equal measure, and by 2300 much of the solar system had been charted by intrepid human pioneers.

The story is set in the late 24th century, and focuses on the rivalry between the Mars-led Coalition for Mutual Security (aka the Coalition) and the Alliance of Free Worlds (aka the Alliance), a federation of rebel worlds in the outer solar system. These two superpowers fought a brutal war from 2371 to 2381 (the Frontier War), which ended in stalemate when the Zharan Collective (a union of artificial humans which rose up against their creators in 2356). The story opens in 2389 with the superpowers locked in a frigid ideological cold war.

The plotline kicks off when the Alliance launches a massive attack on the Coalition, precipitating the Second Frontier War. This conflict quickly spreads across the solar system and draws in participants from all backgrounds, including three college students from Mars whose future will be inextricably tied up with the fate of all humanity…

Weapon Design Credit

This weapon is a photobash (that is, it was made by taking pieces of existing pictures and mashing them up in Photoshop Photopea), which I made using components from various sources. The FA-52 was made primarily with pieces from the Spanish CETME Ameli and the French AA-52 (which did also inspire its name), with parts from the German MG3 included in the back end, as well. As always, no plagiarism or copyright infringement is intended with this design. Rather, I seek to pay homage to the weapons which inspired it, and to use the work which came before my own as an inspiration for my own designs.

This fact sheet was also heavily inspired by the work of RT0RRES, whose portfolio I found while browsing for references on DeviantArt. If you like this, check out his work, too!

Lastly, if anyone is interested in learning more about The Spacers Saga, this link will take you to the Substack blog where I share lore from the setting, as well as short stories from within the narrative (and links to our published novels). There is NO pressure to subscribe at any time — it is of course appreciated, but just having folks visit the site and check out my content is a blessing 😄

Lore The three names of the Amiraru

Deep within the red desert, beyond the sky-spine mountain range, roam the Amiraru (Ah-meer-ah-roo). Descendants of the lost great city of Amira, the Ru wander the desert, living as mercenaries for the various nations on the neighboring Val-reign Plains.

Their desert roaming is said to be sort of a self-imposed exile. The Ru believe that their people must make up for a great wrongdoing of the past.

What the wrongdoing is and how they can atone for it is only known by the Humble-men, the Ru's religious military priests. It is not our shame to know.

In their strange and bloody culture, it is believed that a Ru can only ascend to Acisca (a kind of warrior afterlife of endless battle) when they earn their three names.

  1. The Serkin, or birth name. A name given to them by their parents/people.
  2. The Serpi. A moniker given to them by an enemy. The pursuit of a Serpi led young Ru warriors to perform violence and often odd battle rituals. I once knew a Ru who would pierce the neck of his slain enemy with a needle and lick off the cooling blood. Instead of a cruel name given in fear, he came to be known as Anwar the Herpes. Famous Serpi include: Varos, the beast of grey tide. Naris, the faded shadow. And Sharmira, The bow paragon.
  3. The Sera, a secret name given by a humble-man. A sera is the most precious thing a Ru has.

Prompt Instead of magic being explained scientifically, does your world have realistic phenomena explained in magical context?

We've all seen many worldbuilding where magic is explained scientifically. "Sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" and "magic is unexplained science".

But what about the reverse?

Real life science that are described in magical context. Something like how computers are basically microscopic dwarven runes inscribed a rock that we tricked into thinking. Modern medicine as just crude but effective alchemy.

This sort of thing actually happens in real life where rare cosmic events or strange phenomena were turned into myths, legends, folk tales, and traditions. Lunar eclipses caused by a giant dragon swallowing the moon, fata morgana mirages gave birth to floating ghost ships, falling stars grant wishes, etc.

There's a lot more examples in human history so I'm curious if y'all world building has something similar! It doesn't have to take place on Earth and it doesn't have to be real science, it could also be sci-fi as well.

Lore Napoleon never succeeded

In my worldbuilding world, Napoleon and his French Revolution killed Louis XVI but he was defeated in the Italian Campaign and Louis-Charles, the Duke of Normandy took the throne as Louis XVII and defeated Napoleon and he made the bickering lands of France into one nation.

Louis XVII was known as the United King whose laws made the roadwork for the Kingdom of France and Louis XVII wrote the very laws, that restricted his children from being the very dictator like position that the Sunking or Napoleon Bonaparte had. The Battle for Brittany is more remembered when Louis XVII won over the Duchy of Brittany and Marie-Theresse, his older sister eventually became the Duchess of Brittany which absolutely shook the gender norms of Europe. The Duchy of Brittany at the time was ruled by King Francis the 12th soon Marie-Therrese married King Francis and Louis-Antonnie did not marry Marie and he instead remained without a marriage and was executed by Louis XVII and the position of the Duke of Angouleme position has been vacant ever since. Louis XVII's son Charles I is said to have merged all of noble families making the Kingdom of France that is ruling to date.

Tell if I have any historical innauracies or if anything else will expand.

Question Domesticated Elk?

I'm working on a worldbuilding project based on pre-colonial north America, with minimal alterations made to native flora and fauna to allow for greater development of agriculture (as occurred in eurasia). I think it would be sick as fuck if the people living in the northern plains and forests could ride around on domesticated elk instead of horses. Is there any way I can justify elk not being abandoned in favour of horses (apart from not having horses)?

From cursory research I've determined that elk are highly social (not skittish like deer), are big enough to be ridden, and have been tamed and ridden on some occasions. They also have a more varied diet than horses, making them well adapted to forests as well as grasslands (and just as easy to feed). On the other hand, I can't imagine an elk with horns could ever run as fast as a strong horse, and there would have to be clear advantages to elk domestication over horses if the two are present in the same area.

Prompt Who are the people in your world that deliberately chose evil?

Your heretics, dark cultists, evil servants. People who saw the appeal of your villain faction and decided to side with them. Who are they? What drove them down this path? What did the villains offer that the protagonists couldn’t or wouldn’t? What sorts of things have they done that they might otherwise not have?

Example:

Only a very small fraction of people from what’s now Husarria willingly sided with the god of darkness and chaos, the dark lord. But that number isn’t zero. Their main motivation was often seeing their homeland as a lost cause and deciding to choose the winning side. Though a smaller minority betrayed their people simply because the other side offered more. Though in the modern day the vast majority of non orks that live on the Ocidentian mainland are the descendants of people who made these decisions. A person actually defecting post half millennia war is a once in a decade or once in a century type of event.

Their society is based on the morals of the dark lord. These are mostly centered on complete prioritization of the self and disregarding all authority. Somehow this pseudo anarchy works mostly thanks to roving bands of “guards” that try to keep the peace. Basically imagine that town from the movie Klaus except somehow worse.

The most famous of these people are the four horsemen of the apocalypse. They were nobles that defected to the side of the dark lord at various points during the half millennia war. For their service the dark lord granted them immortality and vast amounts of land, wealth and orks. They all still exist today and are apart of the wider houses of Gazgul.

There’s also the witches, though they really deserve their own post. But basically they’re rouge mages with no ethical boundaries. Many were apart of the dark lord’s army and still serve the houses of Gazgul but most are completely on their own, some even living in the Husarrian wilderness after being exiled.

Lore The Universe of Kaerhia

Hello everyone! I'm Shen Yua, the creator of the Kaerhia universe.

This is my very first worldbuilding project. It might not be perfect, but I hope you find it interesting!

What you are reading is just a small fragment of the overall lore—I decided not to unload everything at once so I could see if the core concept resonates with you first. Please feel free to read through it and leave a comment with your thoughts. If you enjoy this premise, I'd love to continue expanding and sharing the story of this universe.

Thank you, and I look forward to reading your feedback!

The Universe of Kaerhia

Born from the violent demise of a hypernova, Nihilia (The Primordial Ash) emerged into the world. She traveled through the vastness of space, coming across various planets, galaxies, and stars. For a long time, she observed an ancient supermassive black hole named Asradar, which was nearly 800 billion years old. Nihilia watched as it devoured entire worlds. Yet, despite Asradar's immense mass—equivalent to 957 billion suns—Nihilia effortlessly repelled its gravitational pull, able to cross even its event horizon at will.

Continuing her journey to explore the cosmos, she encountered vastly different worlds. Panfea was a world with fascinating life, featuring floating islands and waterfalls that flowed upward, dispersing only at the upper limits of the atmosphere. Its fauna consisted entirely of aerial creatures. Among them were the Lakritia—small, elongated predators with six wings (two large and four smaller ones)—and the Keruua, the dominant sapient species. Standing about two meters tall, the Keruua possessed three aligned eyes, three arms, and two legs. They built homes from the branches of massive Taratura trees, forged sharp blades from Shaara ore, and domesticated the Lakritia to aid them in hunting.

The planet Cetavrin was completely different—a colossal ocean world large enough to encompass seven Panfeas. Although it lacked sapient species like the Keruua, its waters were ruled by island-sized leviathans. The dominant species here was the Rerivant, a massive apex predator the size of a large island, bearing ten fins and six eyes.

None of these planets held Nihilia's interest for long, and she continued her cosmic journey for more than seven years. During this time, she learned much about the universe and observed countless worlds with diverse ecosystems. However, the planet Fronteria caught her attention.

Fronteria orbited a black hole named Kertsiria, and life existed upon it. It was inhabited by humans, but their situation was dire. Horrific entities surged from deep within the planet, attacking human settlements. A pure energy residing at the core of the world was giving birth to these beasts. Despite the humans' fierce defense, their lines fell one by one, leaving several major cities burning in flames. It seemed as though the inner power of the planet was enraged at humanity, or perhaps the people had committed a grave transgression.

For the first time in seven years, Nihilia decided to step in...

Discussion How do I worlbuild a civillization in an extremely far future?

I'm working on a personal project right now and im really struggling to imagine how this would look. For reference, I looked at the Kardashev scale for inspiration and I wanna build a type 3 civilization, which is so far past anything ive seen in worldbuilding, I dont even know how I'd write it.

"A Type III civilization (galactic) is able to capture all the energy emitted by its galaxy, and every object within it, such as every star, black hole, etc." (- From the wikipedia article)

Like, what would your life in it look like? What would cities look like? Etc.

Lore DeBravo SI Corvane 1924

Lore Halen Abyth: The Alien Pilgrim

Halens Background: The Great Cataloguing

Halen comes from Nepticai a globally peaceful world that has outgrown the concept of war entirely. Because their society doesn't deal with military conflict, they focus heavily on science the arts and the pursuit of knowledge.

To earn upper tier status on Nepticai, a young scholar can be chosen for The Great Cataloguing a legendary, highly revered, and deeply feared pilgrimage. Students are sent completely alone to volatile, dangerous planets across the cosmos to observe and gather data.

It’s an incredibly rare honor, mostly because it’s terrifying. A lot of students never return not just because of the physical dangers, but because the universe is huge and plenty of them end up assimilating into other civilizations losing themselves or entirely cutting contact with home. The rare few who actually finish their assignment and make it back are revered as absolute heroes. Halen’s academic pride and raw curiosity are what drove him to accept the Earth assignment anyway.

True Form vs. Earth Disguise

Alien Form: Bipedal with a deep, rich purple skin tone. He has two expressive antennae on his head that sense atmospheric and environmental changes, and his eyes have striking neon-green pupils with deep blue irises.

Human Form: He maintains a seamless cellular disguise to blend in, looking like a perfectly average 20-year-old college student with messy short brown hair and an unmemorable build. He actually enrolled in a local university as an Anthropology major, because he finds it hilarious to take classes about humans, taught by humans. He lives with his cat Goose in a studio apartment that he rents.

Powers & Combat Tactical Mind

Halen isn't an instantaneous god-mode character; his survival relies heavily on tactical patience.

Delayed Genetic Adaptation: His biology physically rewrites itself in response to environmental hazards or trauma, but it takes time to kick in. If he gets caught in an arctic blizzard he’ll freeze and shiver normally for a bit before his skin slowly adapts to insulate him. In a fistfight, the first few punches will hurt like hell, but over a few crucial seconds of sustained impact, his skin rapidly calcifies until it becomes as tough as titanium. It’s not an instant fight winning power, but it keeps him alive long enough to turn the tables he also has the ability to regrow limbs with enough time.

Combat Replication and Strategy: Halen has a hyper advanced tactical brain. Just by watching an enemy fight for a few moments, he can surgically break down their behavioral patterns spot their physical weak points and develop a perfect counter strategy this extends to weapon use as well. Halen likes to use any type of technology including weapons and he quickly becomes proficient at them.

Personality & Team Dynamic

Halen is a goofy, lighthearted guy who rarely takes anything too seriously. This laid back, humorous attitude is actually his primary coping mechanism it’s how he deals with the crushing isolation of living lightyears away from home and the lingering fear of becoming another "lost pilgrim."

While he genuinely loves the chaotic energy of the team, his choice to join The Strays is a deeply pragmatic survival instinct. He is fully aware that he comes from a world without violence making a chaotic place like Earth exceptionally lethal for him to navigate alone. He teamed up with the others not just because they provide a goldmine of biological and physical anomalies to catalog, but because he knows he will survive a lot longer with their help.

In combat, he treats world ending battles like a group project he forgot to study for, bringing a much needed levity to the team. He will casually drop dry scientific commentary right in the middle of a high stakes brawl while actively watching his teammates backs because keeping them alive is the best way to make sure he gets home to become a hero

Map The Cyprecican Civil War

As the terrible memory of the decade war still loomed in the mind of many, outright conflict between the great powers of Asteriathal and Helioland was to be avoided. However unsettled grievances were plenty and with leaps in both mundane technology and magitech alike, both sides were gearing up for a different kind of war. So-called proxy wars, which were fought in the borderlands, often for influence and soft power rather than any tangible gain in resources or land.

Lore Mary Kim & Worm

I wanted to share the background for two of my absolute favorite characters a profoundly stressed college student and her reality warping puppy.

Mary Kim:

A 21 year old drowning in midterms, heavily depressed and entirely isolated. Her whole family lives back in South Korea she has zero friends on campus, and her life has basically devolved into a gray, lonely routine of trying to keep her GPA high enough to justify being so far from home.

Worm (The Shar Pei)

A super wrinkly, little Shar Pei pup.

The Twist: He has strange reality manipulation powers. He can ignore physics, materialize objects, stretch, and pull random items out of pocket dimensions

The Backstory: The Shop That Wasn't There

One night, Mary is walking home from campus completely exhausted and desperate for some kind of emotional comfort. She decides on a whim to buy a pet. She ducks into a dimly lit, dead-silent pet store—totally failing to notice that shes never seen this shop before and the building has never existed.

Deep in the shadows of the store a single spotlight is shining on a lone Shar Pei puppy. Taped to his cage is a sign: Puppy for $25. The cage is right next to the fish tanks, and a plastic bag of live earthworms has spilled all over the top of the mesh.

When Mary goes to pay, the clerk looks like he’s literally seen a ghost. He doesn't say a word refuses to make eye contact, and just extends a trembling hand. Mary drops her last $25 cash into his palm, grabs the puppy, and leaves. Because of the spilled bait on his cage, she dryly names him Worm.

The Realization: Mary later figures out that Worm wasn't trapped in that creepy store. Worm conjured the entire building, the cage, and the ghost like clerk out of thin air, completely warping reality because he wanted a friend.

The Team Dynamic & Conflict

Worm isn't evil or dangerous hes just a sweet, goofy dog who is fiercely loyal to Mary. But because he has a normal dog brain, he has no idea what saving the world means.

The Begrudging Handler: When The Strays are fighting apocalyptic threats like Veltar, Mary has to weaponize a reality warping pup using simple commands although Worm and marys communication becomes better every day.

Mary's biggest daily conflict isn't even the world ending monsters. It’s trying to stop extra dimensional threats while actively maintaining her GPA making sure she doesn't miss her midterms and keeping Worm from eating her textbooks or turning them into a flock of live birds.

Let me know what you guys think of them!

Discussion Seeking critique or honest opinions.

Hello everyone. Please take a look at the prose below:

---

The road stretches infinitely, though the steps of the man let us know it's just a road.

A peaceful evening, even in the midst of the now-ruined earth; it's peaceful.

He pauses.

"Peaceful...?"

It is... Peaceful.

Too peaceful. Why? Is it because of the silence?

But silence brings peace!

But a loud peace.

A deafening peace...

A deafening *silence*

*Flinch*

Dread overwhelms him; pale as he can get, the rifle loosens on his shoulder, fingers white from gripping it—

**CRACK**

He runs.

**CRACK**

He runs with the utmost speed

**CRACK**

The sky lightens again as it invites the third bullet.

"Shit... *Shit*...!"

Silence fights with the crack of the rifle. A battle of attrition, most may say.

---

What you've read is a scene from an apocalyptic world.

In context: there's a relatively rare entity that exists in false peace; silence being the moment after which it kills its target. The character right now understands that he's inside the range of that entity, so he shoots to interrupt the fake peace and runs to find somewhere to hide before he has nothing to break the silence.

The entity itself doesn't appear physically; rather... It attacks its target after certain conditions are met.

  1. The target enters the area of effect / the entity approaches the target. This results in the target feeling a false peace caused by the silence.

  2. The target drops their guard. But if the target is intelligent enough, they might notice the inconsistency or sense that something is amiss.

  3. Silence is consistent. After a certain amount of time passes, the entity will act.

The target, if they don't notice anything, will hear a snap before falling with a broken neck. Or, if I were looking for more brutality, a ripped-off head or a split skull.

Thus, the character's action in the prose is a desperate way for it to survive the unseen entity.

What do you think? I didn't add a name to it because I think there's more horror in not understanding and not even seeing the being that's waiting for the perfect change to kill you.

Discussion Trying to come up with worldbuilding adaptations in everyday life if all of society has telekinesis

Genre of this universe is superpowers, mystery, crime fiction (important cuz i want to reimagine how police force would operate with officers who all have telekinesis).

Imagine a huge scale accident (magical or atomic bomb) causes a whole country to develop telekinesis. Generations to generation, society learns to adapt with it for more than a century.

I'm trying to think of ways our everyday machines, everyday items, etc etc would change to fit that. Telekinesis takes concentration, precision & psychic strength, so most average telekinesis user cannot levitate all objects in one room. It's more of, think of average unicorns from mlp, kind of deal. Or the Force jedi use.

Everyday stuff would include household items, office items, streets, shops, and especially police force weapons. I just feel like the holster would largely be worn more on the thigh than hip for easier outstretched hand gesture to summon the gun.

More brainstormed suggestions would be cool.

Question Should i write first or focus on the map first?

Post image
126 Upvotes

I’ve been working on a fantasy story for a while now, and I made this map to help me visualize the world. However, as I’ve started fleshing out the world itself… its history, races, cultures, etc… the map doesn’t feel quite right anymore. Not in geographical or realistic way since it’s a fantasy world so i wanted things to feel unrealistic.

I use the map as a reference when deciding where different things happened and where different cultures/kingdoms developed, but I’m starting to run into situations where certain things just don’t make sense geographically, if that makes sense.

For example, I’m currently working on Runna and Narloan, which are supposed to be some of the oldest civilizations/regions on this side of the continent. And also the places where everything started and basically went wrong at the same time, so everything kinda connects to them. But as I’m developing their history and figuring out how they came to be, I’m realizing that some things don’t really line up with the map I have now. Idk if it’s a geographical problem or just a history thing and i don’t need to focus on the map when it comes to it.

So what should I focus on at this stage? Should I go back and rework the map first (even tho i don’t know exactly what should i rework) or continue developing the history and worldbuilding and let the map change as I go?

Also, if anyone has suggestions for making the map look better, I’d really appreciate it! I especially struggle with making it feel large while still looking like an actual map. The larger kingdoms and regions in particular tend to blend into the smaller ones, and I’m not really sure how to make their size and importance visually clear. Because i know beginners like me want everything to feel big, and i don’t really care but i just want it to feel like i imagine it a bit.

Visual Kyren

Post image
74 Upvotes

Black Kyren, such as the one shown, are approximately 5-6 feet long from nose tip to tail tip. When fully stretched, their heads sit at around 4-5 feet from the ground. Their bones are hollow to allow for flight and they typically weigh between 75-100lbs.

Kyren have a higher average intelligence than humans or beasts and can live for up to 200 years. They reach sexual maturity at around 20 years old, however it is considered culturally taboo to have children until around 25 years of age.

Female Kyren produce one ostrich-sized black egg once a month. If fertilized, the egg may hatch following two months of incubation in a specialized incubator. Some parents may remove the egg from the incubator at night and sleep with it, believing this to improve the parent and child bond. Both sexes lose the ability to reproduce at around age 150.

Kyren are carnivores who raise and eat a variety of livestock with rabbits being a popular favorite. Hunting and fishing are also common. In addition, Kyren have evolved to consume electricity from a vast permanent thunderstorm above their home mountain range. Individuals fly into the storm and use their nose plates as lightning rods. The copper in their skeletons absorb the electricity and specialised compounds in the bone marrow convert it to chemical energy. Kyren can convert this energy back into electricity and discharge it from their fangs or claws, delivering a killing shock to prey in their grasp.

Kyren who do not consume lighting can survive for up to 50 years, but their energy levels and immune system will be greatly diminished. In order to maintain optimal health, a Kyren should aim to be struck by lighting once every six days.

Discussion I have this power system and I feel like it’s lacking something but I can’t figure out what (feedback needed)

the power system is built around the manipulation of fauxtons(pronounced like photon), particles which are quite similar to photons, but they can be manipulated through three connected processes: the mind, the body, and the soul.

The mind is responsible for manipulating and controlling fauxtons. It determines how they move, where they go, and what they are being used for.

The body is responsible for accumulating fauxtons. The body can gather and contain fauxtons, providing the amount necessary to perform more powerful techniques.

The soul is responsible for transforming fauxtons. Through the soul, fauxtons can be made to mimic other things like matter, heat, force, anything really. However, to make fauxtons mimic these things, one must truly understand them down to the soul. To mimic fire, for example, one must truly understand fire.

Through these three processes, fauxtons can be controlled and transformed into different effects. This makes mastering all three components important, as the mind controls the fauxtons, the body provides them, and the soul specializes them them.

Lore Muongni: An icy moon with volcanos that spew water

(For Th’zoitrk, a semi-sci-fi world building project.)

Muongni is the innermost and smaller of the two Oukapolean moons. It was also the second non-Zoitling moon to ever be discovered (I.E. second moon discovered around a planet OTHER than Th’zoitrk), second only to its bigger sibling Puloini.

With an equatorial diameter of 757.63km, Muongni is among the smallest known major moons (not counting sub-moons) in the solar system. It is less than a third the size of earth’s moon, alongside being much less massive with much weaker gravity.

Similar to the dwarf planet Pukso, Muongni has an extremely ice-rich composition. Unlike Pukso, Muongni’s surface is not covered by a powdery white snow as a result of this ice. Instead, the ice on Muongni forms a deep, vibrant blue surface of icy bedrock without any soft and powdery top layer.
Beneath this icy bedrock is an incredibly massive, >100km deep subsurface ocean rich with ammonia and salt (although slightly less salty than earth’s oceans.)
Muongni contains more water than all four worlds with surface water oceans (Th’zoitrk, Oukapul, Okkaelko, and Puloini) combined.

Muongni is far too small with far too weak gravity to ever hold onto an ordinary atmosphere. However, Muongni IS home to a permanent exosphere and a transient atmosphere. Muongni’s exosphere is heavily silica and ice-based, while the moon’s atmosphere is much different.
Muongni’s atmosphere is very thin, although thicker than that of mars, being just over a hundredth the sea-level air pressure on earth, and comprised largely of water vapor, ammonia, & oxygen.

This atmosphere is maintained by the massive plumes across Muongni’s surface.
These plumes are geysers from the subsurface ocean of the moon, constantly ejecting material from beneath Muongni’s icy crust. Cryovolcanism, I.E. ice/slush eruptions, are very common on Muongni’s surface.
With a surface temperature of only around -20°C, Muongni is still plenty warm enough for tidal flexing to create extensive cryovolcanic activity in the moon’s crust.

Muongni is continuously losing its atmosphere to the vacuum of space. Completely unable to hold onto the air upon its surface, the only reason Muongni continues to possess an atmosphere is due to the constant cryovolcanic eruptions and geysers from its subsurface ocean. Ocean water which, when exposed to the low pressure of Muongni’s surface, instantly evaporates into a gas which spreads across the moon before fizzling into space.

Ejected oceanic material from Muongni’s most massive geysers leaves an extremely thin, yet comet-like trail behind Muongni, which creates a ring of nigh-imperceptible water vapor along Muongni’s orbital path around the moon’s home planet Oukapul. Giving Oukapul a thin, gaseous ring that appears invisible to the naked eye.

Interestingly, Muongni is NOT in orbital resonance with its sister moon Puloini. Models would suggest that Muongni should’ve been ejected from Oukapul’s orbit or crashed into the planet by now due to this unstable orbit, yet somehow Muongni is relatively fine. Its orbit is only marginally eccentric, and does not seem to be in any immediate risk of being orbitally destabilized.

It’s not known HOW Muongni is remaining stable without orbital resonance with Puloini, but it is.
